Chapter 1
Sylvia
My friends and I are all sitting at our lunch table. Our table is in the back of the cafeteria, right next to a window overlooking a student-made Garten. When we all sat down Addy inquired about what we were doing this weekend.
“Well Ash and I are going to the park and then I believe to a bookstore, to find a book the other likes and we are going to be putting notes in the margins about it. I guess that doesn't sound as cool as it is.” I shrug my shoulders.
“OMG Sylvia that sounds adorable! I wish I had a relationship like you guys.” she sighs
Alic and his boyfriend are sitting next to Eddie, Alic is replying to the question with “Lucas and I are going roller skating”. Addy, who is my best friend, is trying to ask Eddie if they could hang out this weekend, but he isn't listening, because he is too busy yelling at Ash to sit the hell down.
“Hey babe,” turning to Eddie who is across from me, I shout, “Eddie shut the fuck up, he is right here!”
“Why don't you shut up, you fucking leach, I wasn't talking to you,” he put up his hands as a peace offering.
“Why don't you let me talk to my boyfriend before you try to fuck him right now,” Ash has sat down next to me and huts his arm around me, “Eddie you know you would be a lot more bearable if you learned the world doesn't revolve around your asshole.”
“Darling, he's not worth it” he kissed my cheek, “Eddie she is right though, why don't you talk to Addy or someone else so I can talk to my girl.”
“Hey love, don't forget you are going home with me on the bus today.”
“Darling I won’t forget, I love you.”
“Okay, guys did you hear about the new horror movie that's coming to the drive-in, a few blocks away?”
“Yeah I did hear about it, I don't remember the name of it though, do you remember?” I shook my head, “ Well then does anyone else know what we are talking about?” Lucas asked.
Around 3 P.M we were outside the school waiting for our buses to pull up in a few minutes. While we wait we’re arranging to hang out later this afternoon, “Yeah Eddie, Ash, and I can meet the rest of you at the drive-in. We can’t drive though so how is this going to work?”
“Um, I didn't think of that.”
“Well, when I mentioned it earlier I forgot to mention it's also in the small movie theater next to the drive-in, so we could just go there. We should sit in the back. How about we meet at Addy’s house since that's the closest walk to the theater.”
We all agreed, then the buses pulled into the parking lot of our high school, we said our goodbyes and went to our buses. Ash and Addy live near each other, on the same block so they usually go on the same bus. Alic and Lucas also live near each other. Eddie and I live near each other but we go on separate buses. Ash was supposed to go home with me but he must have forgotten because he was joking with Edde and got on his bus, and didn't look back when I walked along to mine.
I walk up the steps of my bus shaking like a bee colony residence in my bones. I rushed to the back of the bus which made me trip into my seat, thank god no one sits back here, otherwise that would be one more embarrassing event in my life. Our bus leaves the school. parking lot, we set on our way. My bus stop is the fifth which leads me to be on the bus for around thirty minutes.
My stop rolls around, and my shaking gets even more intense, I walk down the steps of the bus and it speeds off. I studied my surroundings till I spotted someone in the overgrown garden of the abandoned house at the end of my road. Most of the houses on my street are abandoned which adds to the eeriness. I was worried that this person was the creepy man that has been stalking me for the past year. To get to my house; I had to pass the person, and choose if I was going to go the quick way which brings me to the back of my house but is where all the abandoned houses are, or go the long way that has people but they are probably at work. I think I should go the short way. I bet I can make it home if I run.
The house is about 100 feet away from the road, and the fork in the road is 400 feet away from the house. I’m about 20 feet from the fork and walking fast, and ten feet back I heard shuffling behind me. I looked around quickly and saw this tall hooded figure in all black, with his hands at his sides swinging with his opposite leg, while he took long calm strides. So I slowly started to run, making the transition from speed walking to running slow to not alert him.
After running for two minutes, I got to the bridge that connects the road to my backyard, since there is a creek that runs at the back of my house to Lake George which is a few blocks away. I stood in the middle of the bridge fishing my keys out of my bookbag, and after a few seconds I couldn’t find them, I panicked and kept running. I ran to my door, hoping I had left it open, but I did not. I threw my bookbag down and booked it down the other road to my house which leads to the bus stop. What am I gonna do? WHAT IN ALL FUCKS AM I GONNA DO?
Everyone that lives on my road is either ancient and doesn't leave their beds or they are at work, so I can’t ask any of them for help. I could hear the footsteps get closer and closer to me, then I felt a hand cover my hand, and he put me into a headlock pulling me into the woods that the creek leads into. “Cause any commotion, and ill go after that boyfriend of your sweetheart.”
