Notes:

This is my first serious work, featuring my main character and her master, inspired by Lexa and Anya. I plan to rename her character later on. As this is my debut story, I would greatly appreciate any constructive feedback.

Please note that I do not own the characters Lexa and Anya; their rights belong to Jason Rothenberg and Kira Snyder.

I appreciate your understanding regarding any spelling mistakes, as I am not a native English speaker. If you have suggestions or tips, I welcome your comments! ;)

Feel free to let me know if you'd like any further adjustments!

Chapter 1: A Bond Forged in Storms

Summary:

In a realm where riders and dragons are destined to be soulmates, a shy hatchling named Ignifera hides within a nest, evading the connections her mother desperately hopes for. One stormy evening, a girl named Lexa appears, drawn by an unseen force to the Dragon Queen.

Chapter Text

Once upon a time, a rider and a dragon were bound by a deep connection, soulmates forged by fate. These chosen ones were destined to be the guardians of the seven worlds.

In a hidden valley, there was a dragon hatchling named Ignifera. Smaller than the others, she was clumsy and shy, refusing to bond with any of the children brought before her. Concerned, her mother feared that Ignifera would never find the right partner.

But one stormy evening, a girl appeared, her sword nearly larger than she was, slung confidently over her shoulder. She approached the majestic Dragon Queen and knelt, bowing her head in respect. The Dragon lowered her massive head to meet the girl, whose dark hair hung in wet strands over her face.

“Stand tall, my child. What do they call you?” the Queen inquired.

“Lexa,” the twelve-year-old replied, her stormy grey eyes mirroring the tempestuous sky above.

“Are you prepared to prove yourself worthy of one of my children, Lexa?”

With a slight tremor but a determined expression, Lexa nodded.

The mighty Queen unfurled one of her great wings, revealing a nest cradling three dragon hatchlings: a proud, strong black dragon, a larger white one sound asleep, and a small, cheeky black-and-white speckled hatchling.

Taking a deep breath, Lexa steeled herself and approached the nest, her mind racing with doubt. *What if I’m not worthy?*

Kneeling before the three playful troublemakers, she patiently awaited a response.

Finally, it was the speckled dragon, Ignifera, who lifted her head and gazed curiously at the girl before her. A warm sensation enveloped them both as their eyes locked.

Ignifera stumbled a few steps toward Lexa, an unexplainable curiosity drawing her in. She glanced up at her mother, who watched their interaction with keen interest.

With careful grace, Lexa extended her hand. Ignifera leaped into the air and landed gently in her palm, snuggling against her. Lexa felt a rush of joy as she stroked the tiny head, disbelief washing over her. *I’m a dragon rider now!*

In her mind, a soft call echoed—a melodic voice whispering, “Lexa.” A bond was forming, uniting them in a way that neither had ever imagined.
