Work Text:
Jun watched. She watched Jin grow up and fall into the pit of hatred he was destined to trip into. All because of the blood that ran through his veins. Her guilty conscience sent shockwaves of regret through her heart.
She was the one who had damned her son, who meant more than the world to her, to this abhorrent curse. Jun watched as he fought his opponents with a ferocity she had never instilled in him. It was the shadow cast upon him by the evil that was going to grip his very soul. The evil he had inherited from the devil himself.
Jun remembered forlornly her fascination to expose it. The demon that raged inside Kazuya and infuenced his heartless actions. But then, the fascination morphed into something else altogether, and more sooner than later, she had allowed herself to fall prey to him.
She had studied the Mishima bloodline thorougly. She knew well of the curse that each Hachijo passed on to their heir. Despite all that, Jun had let it happened. Even though she had been in her full consciousness, she didn't think that she could say the same for Kazuya.
He had seemed a bit out of sorts all throughout it. He was probably drunk and more often than not, Jun wished she was too. A pathetic trick to reassure herself into thinking that it had all been a mistake.
When she was on top of him, it had suddenly struck her how beautiful he was. His deliciously tanned skin and artistically imperfect scars glistened with sweat. His hands were on Jun's shoulders and his eyes were closed but he looked so blissful. Without thinking, Jun bent down to kiss him.
Jun watched him fight, brutal and unforgiving. Through the sleepless nights of caring for her child, Jun wished she had some level of support from Kazuya, no matter how small. Now, as she bore witness to everything he had done and planned to do, she realised that her lust and want for Kazuya had been just that. Lust, something she had for so long confused with love.
Jun knew this was mutual. Kazuya didn't have any romantic feelings for her either, but respected her, just as she respected him. It was, by all means and definitions, a very odd friendship.
She knew he was capable of good and softheartedness, but it was his tragic past, spite for all who had wronged him in the past and paranormal counterpart which had forced him to become what he was today. The same applied to Jin.
Jun watched as he made friends and bad decisions. That hearty Chinese girl who was convinced that Jin was an angel and the South Korean man who pretended to hate him, but had actually saved his life multiple times, and not just from the goodness of his soul.
They both competed for a place in Jin's heart but his mother knew who had won a long time ago. It was impossible not to, the way they looked at each other.
Jun watched her son and his father, hoping beyond hope, that there was still a chance of redemption for them. That they would be able to overcome the chain of detestation they had involuntarily been pushed into, all because of one genetic mutation.
Jun knew that time would prove her wrong, but she so wished it wouldn't.
