Most people went the angst route for this one, but I went the memetastic one. Zelda already knows she is cursed content, ha.
Chapter 1: Blessed & Cursed
Chapter Text
Let's start with a fact: Zelda is a priestess of Hylia, heir and in charge to preserve the rites, folktales and traditions of the worship of the Goddess. Despite Hyrule's current secular state status, the citizens still address their prayers to the Golden Three and the guardian Goddess of their land, mostly out of superstition.
To the eyes of many people, it adds a layer of mysticism to her persona, that since her youth was associated with scholarly life and academic research - a blessed woman indeed.
Link's eyes squinted at the image of her reading a book at the Hyrule University Library - her photograph graced one of the ads of the undergraduate and postgraduate programs of the Faculty of History, which she was pinning on the information board on the halls of the senior students' classrooms. She looked as if Nayru herself took over her body, in deep reflection, entranced by the content of her research.
"That's horrendously fake."
His comment was harsh, but brutally honest.
He knew for a fact, after sharing an apartment and, in a way, their lives for almost two years already, Zelda actually studying was hardly quiet or silent. Her study or research sessions involved noises that made him doubt she was a Hylian, and think she was some sort of abomination of the Dark World. She talked to herself in an eerie tone, shouted curses in several tongues, and even roared in frustration frequently. Not counting the additional noise of books, rustling papers or projectile pens.
On the rare occasion she was mind blown by a finding or was tired, she would be quiet for good. Or if the librarians scolded her - she had a record of fines regarding her loudness.
"It's an ad, Link," Zelda reminded him. "It's an ideal image to sell something."
"So is your royal portrait, then," he teased.
"It not that bad!"
"You look weird in that stiff pose with the silent princesses and the tulle dress. You don't have freckles in it," he poked her cheek, pointing at her most characteristic feature apart from her green eyes. "It looks haunted. Cursed." - he crossed his arms - "Whatever trendy jargon your students use nowadays."
"A cursed image," she specified with a knowing grin as she finished her task. "I think it's not that bad. Why do you think it's that way?"
"I think you look better just as you are, like now."
Zelda thanked the Goddesses she had already pinned those brochures because that sentence would have made her put a thumbtack through her hand for sure, and add another image to her "cursed" repertoire.
