"I should get going,"Jamie said, smiling nervously as he turned to walked away, lugging a backpack.
"Are you ever going to come back to Briarton?" I walked after him, realizing that I did not want him to leave me here.
"No," his breath hit the cold air as he turned towards me. He hesitantly began to walk away again.
I followed after him, hugging my arms from the winter night, "Where are you going?" I asked him, beginning to feel a little pathetic as I chased after him.
He slowed down and shrugged his shoulders, "I'm not sure," he laughed nervously, "it's all in process."
I stood there working up the nerve to ask him if I could come with him, trying to catch his eye. When he began to walk away yet again he said, "I'm sure you'll be fine here". But when his eyes met mine, he must have noticed that I had something to say, so he stopped and we stared at eachother.
I took a deep breath and forced out the words, "Can I come with you?"
I watched his eyes widen and he walked towards me.
"Why?" he asked. He smiled at my blushing and came closer. I felt so silly and yet I was happy that I could finally let him know how I felt about him. However, his nearness made me go silent as I stared at the ground searching for the right words.
He touched my arm and made me look up at him. His eyes were so very intense.
"Tell me why." He said.
His need to know gave me the courage to grab his hand. But still not enough to tell him that I love him. I met his eyes, "I've never met anyone that made me feel this way....it's like when you're near me, all the mindless routine of the world is drowned out by your light. Your energy, you radiate this light and it's the only thing that means any thing in this entire universe." His hand grabs mine as I continue despite my heart soaring at his touch, "Nothing else, no one else means anything to me. I just need to be next to you."
He stares at me in silence. I blush and look down, wondering how contrite it must have sounded to him.
I laugh and say, "That must sound so trivial to you right now, huh. I mean...we are in the void of meaninglessness and here I am throwing myself at you-"
Before I knew anything, he had his lips pressed to mine and it was pure bliss. I had trouble believing that it was happening yet I kissed him with more ferocity than I think he anticipated, pulling him so close and clutching onto him like he might dissappear.
He pulled away, standing up and readjusted his backpack.
I really thought that he was going to simply leave me there and I'd never see him again. Instead he grabbed my arm and pulled me towards him, down the stairs into an alley where I could not help but kiss him again. He pushed me against the wall and said, "I want to play a game with you first."
"Anything anything" I breathed, my pupils blown with love and disbelief.
"This won't be easy for either of us. But it's necessary." I heard him speaking but didn't care.
"I'm ready"
He let go of my hands and said, "Follow me."
