If Oscar was one thing, was persistent. If he wanted something, he'd get it, no matter what it took.
And what he's been wanting for a while now, is to ruin Spiderman.
Not only did that bastard manage to throw his parents and close friends into jail, he never gave them a chance to explain or redeem themselves.
Yes, he supposed he belonged to the 'bad guys' but the people around him were only doing the things they were out of necesity. And now he was all alone in the world. No friends, no purpose.
Well, he did have a purpose. Making Spiderman miserable.
After the time he purposefully lured the hero to him by pretending to get punched and bothered by some bullies, he decided he had to lay low for a while and investigate more about the guy. He knew everything about his powers, his suit, the kind of technology he liked to use, some non-concrete leads about his secret identity, so on and so on. But in order to succesfully make his life miserable and get him to beg, he needed leverage.
August 13th, 2022
Oscar's newest invention was one he has super excited for. He'd taken the time to create a small drone-like device, that had both the size and the look of a fly, with a 4K camera and a mic that transmited everything to his computer in real time.
He decided to test his newest baby by sending it on a brief patrol around the city, while he remained in his basement. After a few minutes of cheking everyting worked properly, Oscar was just about to instruct his fly to turn left and go back when he heard an interesting exchange through the mic.
"Marinette, just jump and I'll create a web to catch you!" Spiderman yelled while he was approaching the girl in question, voice determined.
Oscar immediately made his drone turn to the direction Spiderman's masked face was looking at, and saw this 'Marinette' girl on a rooftop, running from some sort on ninja-looking guy. When she reached the ledge, she jumped and just as promised, the hero catched her with his web.
The exchange by itself didn't seem too out of the ordinary, but it picked his interest that Spiderman knew the civilian's name, so he kept focused on them.
The hero then jumped to Marinette's direction, grabbing her waist with one arm and picking both of them up with more of his web. She was quick to put her arms around his neck in what it seemed a familiar motion. Hmmm. Weird .
"Are you ready for some turbo-speed?" Spiderman said in a teasing manner. His face under the mask probably displayed a mischevious smirk.
"You know I hate tha- AAAAAAH!" Marinette yelled when he started moving through the buildings so fast, the fly struggled to keep up.
They finally landed on a small balcony and while they loosened up their embrace, didn't let go of each other.
"How many times do I have to save you, Klumzinette?" That same teasing-flirty tone.
"Oh shut up! It's not like I jump into danger on purpose" The girl said while smaking his chest teasingly with her palms.
A large man in an apron appeared through the trapdoor and approached them with a confused look on his face.
"Spiderman?! ...Marinette? What is going on?"
Both of the teenagers jumped at the voice and turned to the man.
"PAPA?!"
"I'm- I was just-"
"Um- we ahh... WE'RE DATING!"
"We WHAT?!" Spiderman's covered eyes widened comically before adding "I-I mean we are!"
Dating? That seemed a bit like a lie on the spot, but they did seem close. This was the leverage Oscar was so desperately looking for. Fucking finally. He left the scene, making his drone fly a little lower to inspect the building they were in. Dupain-Cheng bakery. So her full name was Marinette Dupain-Cheng then. Perfect. He didn't even had to snoop around to get her last name.
The next few days, Oscar was determined to get all the info he could about Spiderman's little gf. So far, the only thing he found was that she studied at Collège François Dupont, but nothing else. Either this girl was extremely boring, or extremely secretive. He had no other choice but to keep a close eye on her to find out. Big missions sometimes required big sacrifices, so Oscar had no other choice but to enroll on François Dupont to do so.
A week later
The mission so far was not as fruitful as he had wished, but he wouldn't label it as a waste of time either. On his first day, Marinette had already offered to show him around, and to help him out in what she could. So naive.
Maybe Oscar would've already gotten some info on her spider boyfriend out of her, if it wasn't for the blonde guy following her around like a lost puppy everywhere. It was a little pathetic.
He also kept giving him this angry looks and scoffs. What the hell was wrong with him? So possesive.
Growing impatient, his new plan was to follow her after school and kidnap her. That would surely catch the hero's attention. He then would torture the girl in front of him. Have him plead, beg and cry before ultimately killing her.
Oscar could only sigh happily at the mental image of the horrorized look Spiderman would make and the pain he would cause him forever.
Wow. He didn't realize he was this macabre.
Was he going crazy?
Two weeks later
Oscar was finally able to follow an Adrien-less Marinette who was walking towards the park. Before she could make the final turn, she felt a macabre shiver down her spine and turned around.
"Oh" she laughed nervously "Oscar! It's just you"
"Not just me" he took his jacket off and octopus arms emerged from his back. "It's me and my friends."
Marinette's eyes widened in horror and tried to run away, but didn't get more that 4 steps in when she felt a metal claw tighten around her waist and taking her with who used to be Oscar.
Marinette hissed in pain. She felt useless. Being in broad daylight and with everyone watching her with a terrorized look on their faces, there was no way she could transform now.
Adrien was sitting in his room, facing the large window, while he was completing his schoolwork. Just when he was about to take a break to call Mari, he felt his world crash around him when he saw the girl he loved in Octopus' clutches, screaming for her life.
"Spiderman! I know that you can hear me!" Octopus yelled to no specific direction, knowing his enemy would hear him no matter where he was "If you want your little girlfriend back, come alone."
Adrien transformed as quickly as he could, and had his AI (Plagg) instruct him were to go while he was having a full-blown panic attack. He couldn't loose her.
He reached an old abandoned warehouse, managed to calm down a bit and tried to get in as quiet as possible, hoping to not trigger any traps or alarms Octopus could've prepared for him.
"Oh come on, don't be shy and join us." A voice said behind him. Nothing could've prepared him for the scene he was about to see.
Marinette had a cloth covering her mouth, impeding her from speaking. Her feet and hands were tied so tightly, she had some blood on her wrists and ankles, and she was still being held up by one of octopus' tentacles, suffocating her. Dried tears on her cheeks, she looked absolutely drained. Like her death was inevitable at that point.
Absolutely not. He would do anything to save the love of his life. Oh how he wished he had told her before how much he loved her. How much she saved him from madness just by existing and being there for him. How beautiful she looked when she smiled. How there would be no one else that could fill his heart the way she does.
Focus. You'll get to do that later.
He called to his AI. "What's the best way to go about this, Plagg? Last time, he was able to cut through my web easily."
"There's no way to defeat him unless we deactivate his octopus arms, the thing is, there's no button per se that turns them on or off, he controls them with his mind."
"So we're fucked, is what your trying to tell me?"
Adrien wasted no more time and swinged himself in front of Octopus and punched him. Once. Twice. Three times. Why wasn't he fighting back?
Octopus laughed. He fucking laughed. Then he felt his arms being chained to the floor, courtesy of Octopus arm #3.
"Fuck you." Was the only thing he could say. Now he was trully and completely hopeless. He had failed her. Nothing else mattered now.
Tears rolled down his face.
"Oh don't be so dramatic, I've barely done anything to her. The fun is only starting." He turned to Marinette and stared choking her. After a minute, she was starting to turn blue.
The rage gave Spiderman enough strength to break the chains and remove his hand from her neck. Another one of the villain's metal arms grabbed him by the waist and threw him to the other side of the warehouse.
"P-please let her go. I'll do anything you want me to. Just let her out of this."
"What I want from you is to see you suffer. And she's the best way to do so, so no."
Adrien looked around everywere, trying to catch a glimpse of something, anything , that could help him neutralize Octopus. That's when he spotted the beams above him.
He shot a web to the beams and pulled 2 of them with full force towards Octopus' face and left leg, careful to not hit Marinette, who was trying to break free from his hold without much success.
Oscar groaned in pain. The beams managed to hurt him enough to de-stabilize him and make him fall to the floor. Disoriented, he opened his eyes and touched his forehead, then looked down at his fingers and saw blood.
"Bastard! This ends now!" He looked to his right to find Spiderman desperately trying to break Marinette free from his clutches. He flashed a maleficent smile before having one of his free arms open a small container of blue liquid and a syringe he'd been keeping on him the whole time.
He filled the syringe up and raised his arm in front of the two, which finally got Spiderman to stop trying to break his girl free and turn around.
"This is a lethal venom I designed myself. It spreads through the body in less than 5 seconds, and will kill your little girlfriend before you can say any last words to her." Oscar said with a tone only a competely mad man could.
He lowered the arm with the syringe with full force, only to have Spiderman try to stop him, using every muscle in his body to get enough strength to not let the arm near Marinette.
"This. Won't. Make. You. Happy." Adrien was barely able to get out while he kept pushing the arm away.
"Oh I think it will, and them my arms and I can continue making your life miserable for the rest of you life."
"You said we would be free!" One of the arms whispered.
"Well I lied, you're all my servants and will continue to be until I say so."
The arm that just talked started to choke him, while the one holding Marinette finally dropped her to the floor, and the one with the venom turned to his master and inyected it to him.
"TRAITORS! I-" was the only thing Oscar could muster before dropping dead to the floor.
Adrien rushed to Marinette, who was kneeling on the floor, and untied her limbs before removing the cloth from her mouth and both started crying happy tears.
"I thought for a moment I would never be able to see you again." He said grabing her face with both hands. He fully let the tears come down like a river and took off his mask.
"I'm here. I'll always be here." Marinette said with a soft voice and reached forward to hug him tightly.
A few minutes of them crying and hugging each other like their life depended on it - which at that moment, it might as well be true - before Adrien spoke.
"Marinette. If I had lost you today, I don't think I would've been able to keep going." He said in between sobs and hugged her tighter.
"I know you would've found a way." Marinette's voice cracked before continuing "-but I'm glad I'm still here with you. As long as I'm alive, I'll be by your side."
"No, Marinette, you don't understand." Adrien grabbed her shoulders and broke the hug to be able to see her face. "You're the person I love most in the world." He took a deep breath before continuing "I love you so much it hurts. I'm so in love with you."
Marinette stared at him in shock.
"Say something. Please. Anything." Adrien pleaded.
"I love you too Adrien. I've always been in love with you. Always will." Marinette rubbed the tears out of her eyes before smiling and hugging him again.
She separated from the hug to pepper his face with kisses. Adrien giggled.
After a moment, Marinette stopped and just looked at him with an enamored look on her face.
Adrien took a small piece of hair that had gotten out of her pigtail and put it behind her ear. Then, he grabbed her chin and pulled her towards him gently for a kiss.
The kiss was needy and salty, thanks to the tears that were still on their faces, but it was perfect. Adrien tried to pour all his feelings into it, hopping to show her how deep his love for her was.
They separated and brought their foreheads together. "You're my everything." Adrien murmured after a moment. So low, she almost wasn't able to catch it.
"Please take me home and let's stay there together for the next 30 years." Marinette desperately said, putting her hands on the sides of his face.
"You now that's now possible, my love." Adrien then kissed her forehead and Marinette's heart skipped a beat at the nickname and the gesture. "But yeah, let's go."
