“I can’t believe you were able to keep this a secret for so long,” Amity said, legs crossed and leaned into her girlfriend on the couch. “I couldn’t even tell.”
Luz let out a soft giggle and squeezed Amity’s hand as she stood up. “Recon models are built to find out secrets,” she explained. “It’s no surprise we can keep them locked up tight, too. Secrets aren’t the only thing built into my servos, though.”
Amity began to blush. “Yeah?” She asked, her eyes shining as Luz’s hand slipped off of hers slowly, their artificial warmth so comforting against her chilly fingertips.
“Oh, yeah,” Luz said, walking backwards and nearly tripping over Eda’s coffee table as she did. She was so focused on putting on a show that she nearly forgot to heed the proximity sensors flashing in the corner of her visual field. “Check this out.”
She crouched behind the coffee table, but Amity was puzzled when she didn’t come out on the other side. She blinked along for a few moments before getting up to peek behind the table. There was nothing there.
“Luz?” Amity asked, her brows knitted until she yelped in surprise after being lifted right off of her feet.
“What can I do for you, sweet potato?” Luz laughed, holding Amity up high over her head. She didn’t seem fazed in the slightest.
“I thought you had weak nerd arms!?” Amity cried, her hands wrapped tightly around Luz’s wrists. She was holding tight and steady without ever breaking a sweat.
“I had a cover to keep,” Luz said, smiling lovingly as she set Amity down and nuzzled their noses together. “But now I can show you everything I’m made of.”
Amity purred. “I guess so,” she whispered. “But how’d you manage to sneak like that? I couldn’t see you at all! Are you sure you don’t have a bile sac?”
“I don’t even have a heart,” Luz giggled. “Not one like yours, at least.” She placed a hand atop Amity’s heart. She could feel it beating through her shirt. She had a steady, but elevated pulse. That was normal enough around a romantic partner. No medical worries there. “It’s cloaking technology. Top of the line. It’s like I’ve got little tiny mirrors in my skin, if that makes any sense. Just a trick of the eye, but it’s a clever one that works super well. It even tricks most androids back home, too. I guess that’s just part of being one of the newest models...”
Letting out a soft sigh, Amity ran her thumb over Luz’s cheekbone with a feather-light touch. Luz felt her heartbeat jump another few beats per minute. “Well, to me, you’re more than just a new model,” she whispered reassuringly. “You’re a massive dork. You’re a witch in training. You’re my girlfriend.”
Luz smiled back to her shyly. “Aw, jeez, Amity,” she deflected, her coolant system ramping up as her face began to flush. “You’re so sweet. Have I ever told you how much I love you?”
“Only every single day.”
