Work Text:

“Watching you walk out of my life does not make me bitter or cynical about love.

But rather makes me realize that if I wanted so much to be with the wrong person, how beautiful it will be when the right person comes along.”

― Nicholas Sparks, author of Dear John

Baekhyun grabbed the sheets underneath his palms, clutching at them for dear life as he felt his body shudder in a mixture of fatigue and delight.

“S-Stop, enough… please, ” Baekhyun gasped. He looked over his shoulder, panting heavily.

The man above him smirked, almost devilishly. He obviously was delighting in Baekhyun’s disheveled state. “What? You’re asking me to stop already?”

There was teasing to his tone with a honey drop of goading that somehow caused something inside Baekhyun’s gut to rile awake. He glared at the man that was still smirking at him, but he didn’t reply.

He did feel entirely spent already.

The man hummed, rough hands rubbing his right thigh and waist. The sensation of calloused palms against his pristine caused something to stir inside Baekhyun. He gulped.

“Oh, but we’ve only just begun, my little petal,” the man whispered as he leaned in close, his nose touching the shell of Baekhyun’s ear. His breath tickled his skin before he flinched, feeling the wetness of the other’s tongue against his lobe.

Baekhyun couldn’t stop the moan that escaped his lips. His already crumbling determination was quickly dashed away when full lips crashed against his, owning his tongue and exploring his mouth so hungrily that Baekhyun was starting to feel delirious just with the man’s taste.

“Ah! C-Chanyeol! ” He groaned loudly as he felt those sinful lips kiss and bit on the side of his sensitive neck while his hands roamed his skin, playing with his nipple.

Chanyeol chuckled, a sound that almost seemed enamored. But Baekhyun was already too out of it, he was starting to get lost from the building pleasure. Despite being already tired and feeling sore, Baekhyun couldn’t seem to stop himself from opening up to Chanyeol even more.

It was almost as if he was under the man’s spell. And maybe he was.

After all, he’d only met the man tonight for the first time and he was already willing to let him rearrange his inside for hours now. And Baekhyun only ever slept with people he was committed to. He never had flings before, much less a one-night stand. But there was something about Park Chanyeol that had Baekhyun giving in to his charms so easily.

Chanyeol had to be a witch or magic of some kind for Baekhyun to helplessly cave into him like this.

After all, Baekhyun had been engaged only a few weeks ago but now he was willing to have - technically - a complete stranger have his way with him. But this person meant to him more now than he did when they first met. And if he was being completely honest, he’d let Park Chanyeol rearrange his insides as much as he wanted.

one week ago

Baekhyun was pissed. No, in fact, he was absolutely fuming to the edges of his sanity. The young carrier sat on the seat with a loud flop, earning a few raised bros towards his direction but he didn’t care, not that they can see him anyway. Baekhyun sank against the seat of the plane, thankful for the privacy the first class has to offer him because he honestly didn’t want anyone seeing his red and puffy eyes. All he could still think about was the image that seemed to be permanently etched on the back of his eyes.

“That fucking prick, ” he cursed under his breath as the image returned full force. He shook his head and tried to clear his mind by inhaling and exhaling multiple times until his breathing was starting to even out.

Just then he heard a female voice from the speakers, signaling all passengers to buckle their seatbelts and prepare for their flight. Baekhyun stared at the empty seat beside him that was supposedly for his future husband now ex-fiance who he should have supposedly married yesterday. Still, instead, he found the bastard railing a woman on their bed. He knew the woman as one of his fiance’s ‘casual acquaintances from his department’ the asshole so put it once he noticed the two of them together during their company’s formal dinner event.

Baekhyun and the bastard, as the former ever so endearingly call him now (and yes, that was sarcasm), worked for the same company although they were in different departments, and more often than not, the carrier had noticed more than a few times how his ex had been giving that a woman a certain kind of look that had him feeling pins and needles running down his spine.

So of course, he confronted the bastard as they were to be married soon, only to be gaslit and told he was being too much with his overthinking and that he didn’t trust him enough when the trust was very important in a relationship.

The bastard played him good, Baekhyun would admit begrudgingly. He played him well for all those three years they were together because not once had he felt insecure and doubtful of their love and commitment towards each other.

Until he saw them that fateful night and his hunches were only confirmed when he witnessed him having sex with that woman on the bed Baekhyun himself bought.

Baekhyun didn’t scream at them nor did he demand an explanation. He simply called his wedding coordinator to inform her that the wedding was off. He called his parents and his friends and told them the gist of what happened and how the wedding was canceled. He then called what would have been his future in-laws’ and informed them that he would be returning his engagement to them, as it was a family heirloom.

Everyone had been angry, devastated, and very pissed on his behalf but they were more supportive and loving. And for that, Baekhyun was thankful that despite what that bastard had done, he knew he had really good people around him.

He had also planned to cancel his honeymoon but one of his best friends, Kyungsoo, had talked him out of it. He had insisted Baekhyun should go on his honeymoon as he had already paid for it. Another close friend of his, Jongdae, had sassily added “ So that bastard can’t get a refund for his money ” and Baekhyun was convinced.

So, here he was now: seated alone in an expensive first-class plane meant for a couple going on their honeymoon with red cheeks and heavy eye bags under his puffy eyes. He feels as though this was a terrible idea entirely. Baekhyun sighed as he heard the pilot captain talking through the speakers.

Well, there’s no going back now, he thinks to himself as he feels the plane slowly moving, What possibly could happen?

present

Baekhyun knew this would happen.

The 26-year-old had been sitting alone at the bar for hours now, trying to drink his sorrows away. He felt as though he was the loneliest person in the world at that moment, his insecurities building up in his gut. Multiple people had tried to start a conversation with him, buy him a drink or two, and some had even openly hit on him as he wallowed in self-pity.

But Baekhyun couldn’t care less. He would either simply brush these people off or ignore them entirely, depending on his mood. In his already alcohol-ridden thoughts, these people were only approaching him due to pity or some sort, not because they truly found him attractive. Maybe some of them were simply curious as to why he was drinking alone.

Never had he felt so inadequate or unattractive in his life. The hurt and betrayal that bastard had caused him had quite an effect on his confidence.

“Sir, I think you need to stop drinking now,” the pretty bartender said, concern visible on her face and in her voice. “You seem drunk. Are you staying in our hotel? Do you want me to call security to escort you to your room?”

Baekhyun gazed up from his drink and stared at her worried expression. He thought she was pretty and his brain automatically wondered if his ex would have thought the same. Immediately, Baekhyun shuddered at his thoughts.

He shook his head, trying to dispel the bad thoughts away. He looked at the bartender again and gave a half-hearted smile, “I’ll finish this and I’ll be on my way. Thank you, though.”

“Oh dear, leaving already? And here I was planning to buy you a drink.”

Baekhyun and the bartender flinched, caught by surprise by the sudden deep, velvety voice. The short male looked over his shoulder and saw a tall and handsome man standing a foot behind him. His stance was lax but confident, he had both hands inside his dark blue colored pants, and he was wearing a white shirt with the first two buttons undone underneath a dark blue suit jacket.

The man’s blonde undercut was styled into a comma hair, showing off his forehead and features. Baekhyun noticed a dimple as the man smiled at him.

“Oh, Mr. Park! Good evening, Sir.” The lady bartender greeted the newcomer formally with a short bow. Baekhyun looked over in her direction before directing his attention back to the tall, good-looking stranger.

“Ah, I would like a Godfather, please. Thank you, Sooyoung,” the man said easily, his low timbre sounding so nice in Baekhyun’s ears. The stranger sent him a look before sitting down on the seat beside him, his movements somehow reminding Baekhyun of a panther.

“I would also like to order a dry martini…” The man turned his entire body towards Baekhyun before leaning a bit closer, a lethal smile on his lips, “That is if the handsome gentleman would allow it?”

For a few, quick seconds Baekhyun seemed to be paralyzed in his seat. Beguiled by a pair of long lashes and an adorable mole on his high nose. When he noticed the man’s smirk widening, he realized he had been staring at the man for a beat too long.

He didn’t even notice the bartender - Sooyoung - had already left to prepare their drinks. Baekhyun gulped, feeling as though his body was being pricked a by thousand needles. He suddenly felt nervous but he still nodded his head.

“Oh, thank god. I thought you would reject me like what you did to all those suitors before me,” the smiled easily before extending his hand. Baekhyun gingerly took his hand in a quick handshake, immediately noticing how the stranger’s hand covered his own entirely. They were rough but not calloused, his skin rather felt warm and nice against Baekhyun’s palm. “My name is Park Chanyeol.”

“Hi, I’m Byun Baekhyun.”

“Well, hello there Byun Baekhyun,” Chanyeol rolled his name on his tongue, smiling at how it sounded on his lips. "It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance."

The taller male noticed how the smaller’s cheeks had slowly bloomed into a faint pink blush that was slowly spreading down his neck.

Baekhyun gave him a shy but blinding smile and Chanyeol thought that he'd like to say and do more things to elicit such a reaction from the man.

Simply because he thought that Byun Baekhyun was utterly stunning when he smiled.

That night, Baekhyun and Chanyeol had talked more than they drank at the bar and yet the former found that he was truly enjoying himself. For the first time in days since he had his heart trampled, Baekhyun didn't think about his ex or his ruined wedding. He was simply enjoying his time talking to a handsome stranger who he later found out was not only intelligent but also humorous.

Honestly, Baekhyun could talk to Chanyeol for hours without getting bored seeing as the two of them click so well. They have similar humor, similar interests, and hobbies and they even share the same profession - they were both working for Advertising Agencies.

Although neither of them delved into anything personal about the other that night, Baekhyun learned enough about Park Chanyeol to root a seed of interest in his mind.

So now here they were, sitting in front of the beach, talking about anything and everything under the warm sun. Chanyeol had asked for Baekhyun's number that night before walking him to his room. If he was curious why Baekhyun was alone despite staying in a honeymoon suite, he didn't comment on it.

The two of them had been meeting up for more or less a week now, and Baekhyun wasn’t tracking his time. He was here to enjoy and forget and that’s what he plans on doing during the duration of his stay. He had booked this place for a month after all.

It was Chanyeol who always invited Baekhyun for late lunches or early dinners. Today was different because Chanyeol had asked him to join him for breakfast on his room's patio in front of the beach. He never expected to feel so close to someone this quickly but there was just something about the taller that made him feel safe.

"Wow, this is so nice," Baekhyun yawned, throwing both arms above his head as he stretched on the reclining beach chair.

"Doesn't your room have the same view?" Chanyeol asked as he sat back down on the chair beside Baekhyun, placing the food they ordered on the table between them.

The smaller sighed before sitting up and grabbing a toast on his plate, "I don't really like staying there, to be honest."

Chanyeol didn't offer a reply, he simply cocked an eyebrow before humming to himself. Baekhyun knew he was curious, the taller had been dropping questions here and there but the smaller was quick to either brush those queries aside or change the subject.

After a beat, Baekhyun sighed. "You're curious, aren't you?"

"Well, a pretty man like you going on a vacation without a partner or even friends?" The taller said, tone and body lax as he starts to eat his breakfast, "Not to mention you're alone yet you're staying in a honeymoon suite? Of course, I'm curious, little petal."

Ah, there it is again, Baekhyun thought to himself. Chanyeol has been calling him that endearment for some days now and somehow he couldn't find it in him to tell him to stop.

"Well, where should I begin?"

"Start wherever you feel like sharing, I'll listen to whatever you're willing to tell me, Baek."

Baekhyun took a deep breath, eyes losing focus as he stared into the waves crashing against the shore.

"This vacation I'm on… It's supposed to be my honeymoon," Baekhyun said, voice small, "But the day before my wedding… I-uh.."

Sensing the smaller's discomfort, Chanyeol quietly reached out and held his hand. Squeezing it lightly to comfort him. Baekhyun returned the gesture, sending his friend a grateful smile.

"I saw him… that bastard… " the carrier gritted out, "I got home earlier than I usually do, expecting our shared apartment to be empty because he said he had extra work to finish before our wedding and honeymoon…"

"I take it that's not what you came home to?" Chanyeol said softly, his thumb rubbing the skin of his inner wrist comfortingly. Baekhyun nodded his head.

“When I arrived home, I could hear them from the foyer… Him grunting… Her moaning his name… ” the smaller one shook his head, his pretty face marred with disgust and different shades of anger and resentment in his droopy eyes, “Following the sounds, I immediately went to our bedroom and that’s when I saw them.

“And what happened next?”

“They stopped, he tried to apologize to me and told me he had made a mistake. But I was having none of it, I immediately called my wedding coordinator and told her the wedding was off. He heard that and had the audacity to get mad at me for not listening to him first,” Baekhyun scoffed, “As if I needed any explanation after what I saw. He tried to stop me, so I got pissed.”

Baekhyun closed his eyes, the memories were beginning to be too much for him. Although they didn’t hurt him as much as they did before.

“What did you do to him, darling?”

“I kicked him in the balls because he wouldn’t let go of my arm. It was starting to hurt, too.”

“Great job,” Chanyeol praised and the shorter noticed his dimple making an appearance as he smiled widely at him.

“I went to one of my friend’s house afterward and then I called my parents and his after once my head was a bit clearer.”

Chanyeol’s hold tightened around his and when Baekhyun looked at him, he saw how the taller had an unreadable expression on his handsome face but the swirling displeasure was apparent in his eyes. It somehow made Baekhyun feel lighter, knowing that a friend was angry on his behalf because it meant he cared for his feelings. Something his ex didn’t bother to think about when he chose to hurt and betray Baekhyun.

“I’m sorry that happened to you, petal,” Chanyeol soothed, his thumb tracing invisible circles on his skin, “But hey, at least you were able to dodge the bullet sooner than later.”

Baekhyun laughed under his breath, nodding slightly in agreement, “Yeah, that’s true.”

The taller suddenly stood up and briskly walked back inside his room. Baekhyun turned his body to follow him with his eyes, eyebrows furrowed at the suddenness of his action. He was still wondering what had happened when Chanyeol suddenly came back with a bottle of champagne and two flute glasses in his hands.

“What the…”

Chanyeol ignored his confused noises, simply smirking to himself as he opened the expensive-looking bottle. Baekhyun stared at it and noticed it was an Armand de Brignac bottle, causing his eyes to widen.

Chanyeol …” he called, “That bottle is expensive, why are you opening it so early in the morning?”

“Because, you deserve the best and you deserve a toast, my little petal,” the older said easily, pouring the light-colored fluid into the two flutes. He handed one to Baekhyun before raising the other with his right hand, “Cheers to you, Baekhyunnie! You’ve not only dodged a bullet and avoided marrying an asshole but you also gave him the ball-kicking action he so deserved.”

Baekhyun laughed at the sudden absurdity of Chanyeol’s antics but raised his glass and clinked it against the taller’s, the smile never leaving his face.

But he was suddenly taken by surprise when Chanyeol pulled him for a bone-crushing hug, his warm breath tickling the shell of his ear as he whispered, “ I’m so proud of you for standing up for yourself, my little petal.

Those words struck something inside of him, his eyes immediately watering as he returned the embrace. He hid his face against Chanyeol’s warm chest and for the first time in weeks, he finally allowed himself to let go and cry his heart out.

Baekhyun hated crying in front of people, but this was okay. Because this was Chanyeol and he knows Chanyeol would never judge him.

On the last day of his vacation, he and Chanyeol decided to stay in the older’s hotel room. They had been traveling around and touring together and ever since that morning wherein he had told Chanyeol what had happened to him, the two of them grew closer.

And as they grew more and more comfortable around each other, Baekhyun couldn’t help noticing the growing tension between them. He was sure it wasn’t only him who could feel the pull between the two of them if the lingering touches and looks Chanyeol was giving him were anything to go by.

At this point, Baekhyun was feeling unsure. Yes, he was attracted to Chanyeol. Who wouldn’t be? The man was handsome, funny, smart, and kind. Anyone would be lucky to have his attention on them. But a part of him feared that what if he hasn’t fully moved on yet? What if he was just seeing this as a chance to get over his heartbreak? What if Chanyeol himself thinks that way and sees it as Baekhyung using him as a rebound?

He knew he was overthinking things but he couldn’t help it. Chanyeol had become someone dear to him despite the short time they have spent together, the last thing he wanted to was hurt a good man like him.

He was so deep in his thoughts that he failed to notice that Chanyeol had come back from his room’s small kitchen, carrying the chicken he had cooked and the pizza Baekhyun had ordered earlier that night.

Chanyeol placed the food on the center table, beside the many cans of beers they had already opened and finished, before sitting beside him on the floor.

“What’s got my little petal thinking so deeply, hmm?” The taller said, pinching one of Baekhyun’s cheeks softly, startling him.

“Ah, nothing. Just some random things inside my head.”

“Oh, pray tell, I’m all ears,” Chanyeol said as he opened another can of beer.

“I told you, it’s nothing…” the smaller insisted before grabbing a can of his own. Chanyeol simply shrugged, looking nonchalant as Baekhyun started to drink his beer.

As he was gulping the brown liquid down his throat, he was suddenly tackled sideways. The can fell from his grasp, spilling the beer on the hotel’s carpet. He was about to complain when he suddenly felt hands on his sides, tickling him.

S-Stop! Baekhyun cried, laughing so hard his stomach was starting to hurt already. He tried squirming away from the taller’s fingers but Chanyeol was quick to stop him. “Chanyeol, please ! I give up! I give up !”

He could hear the taller laughing so hard but it seemed like he wasn’t planning to stop what he was doing, so Baekhyun started kicking in hopes of being able to get away. But his action only caused Chanyeol to lose his balance, stumbling on top of Baekhyun with their faces only inches apart.

The two of them were heaving, trying to catch their breaths as they stared into each other’s eyes. There was pin-drop silence around them and no one moved as they realized what position they were in.

A second passed and then two. And then ten and maybe an infinity, but Baekhyun didn’t really care. His full attention was on those wide doe-like eyes that seemed to see through his very soul.

He subconsciously gulped, licking his lips in the process. The action earned Chanyeol’s attention immediately and his eyes seemed to be stuck on that pair of thin, pinkish flesh.

Baekhyun wasn’t sure who moved first, he hadn’t a clue who initiated it. All he knows now were plump lips on his, teeth scraping and biting his bottom lip as he squirmed in pleasure underneath Chanyeol’s strong body.

They seemed to kiss forever and yet it still felt entirely too short when Chanyeol broke the kiss so that they can catch their breaths.

They stared at each other once more and without missing a beat, their lips clashed again. The kiss wasn’t sweet or tentative, no. It was pure carnal frustration spiked with rushing lust. It was an outcome of a series of lingering touches, longing stares, and building sexual tension between the two of them. A tension they had both purposely chose not to acknowledge.

Until now.

They kissed and kissed, hands roaming and tongues dancing a rhythmic dance of lust and affection.

Suddenly, Baekhyun was hoisted up and he was suddenly slammed into the nearest wall. The action surprised him, catching him off guard and making him lose balance but Chanyeol was quick to push him up against the wall so he wouldn't slide down. The smaller one was fast to wrap his legs around his waist for support.

Chanyeol immediately pushed his mouth back onto his once he knew the smaller wouldn't easily slip from his grasp. His hands were gentle yet firm, as though he was unwilling to let go of him. At one point during their intense make-out, Chanyeol kissed him so hard that Baekhyun had to push him off so he could catch a breath. Chanyeol was being too rough, too fast, and just too much.

But it didn't mean it made him less turned on. In fact, he felt like he was burning inside. It was what he needed at this moment. This intensity the taller was showering him with.

And the only thing that could quench the fire inside him was Chanyeol.

And the taller was just more than willing to give him what he wanted.

Baekhyun woke up the morning after, feeling groggy and sore. His head hurt and his back was killing him. He groaned as he rubbed his temples, as though the action would lessen the incoming migraine.

Just then, the memories from last night flooded his head. He gasped, sobering up suddenly as he realized what had happened between him and Chanyeol.

He and Chanyeol had sex last night. And it was the best sex he had in his life.

Baekhyun looked back and he was tempted to wiggle himself inside the man’s arms but quickly held himself back.

I need to go, he thinks to himself. He felt as though he was being choked, panic dancing in his veins as doubt and nervousness played in his head. He stood up slowly from where he had been lying on the couch, careful not to wake Chanyeol beside him.

He immediately grabbed his clothes that were splayed on the floor near them and changed into them as quickly and quietly as he can manage. All the while praying that Chanyeol does not wake.

But just as he was wearing his underwear he felt a pair of arms wounding themselves around his torso, surprising him and pointedly stopping him from running away.

“Why are you leaving?” Chanyeol whispered, voice sounding so much deeper than what Baekhyun was used to.

When the smaller one didn’t answer, Chanyeol removed his arms around him so he could turn him around to face him. He gingerly cupped the younger’s face in his palms, eyes almost pleading. “Why are you leaving, Baekhyun?”

And Baekhyun couldn’t answer because he had no idea how to. So, he decides to be honest.

I don't know .”

Chanyeol hummed.

And then. “Do you regret it?”

It was as though he had been slapped. He cried, “No! Of course not!”

“Then why are you leaving me?”

“I..” his head hung low, “..I’m scared.”

“You’re scared of me?”

“Yes.”

“Why?”

“I’m scared of the possibility of me loving you more than I did my ex,” Baekhyun whispered, eyes closed and hands trembling in fear. “I’m scared of the possibility of you hurting me and me hating you more than I did him.”

Baekhyun kept his eyes closed, afraid that if he would open them he’ll only see Chanyeol looking at him with pity. Or worse, with endless kindness as he would let him down gently.

“My little petal, won’t you open your eyes?”

Baekhyun shook his head.

“Why?”

He whispered, afraid. “I’m scared to break in front of you.”

A thumb caressed his cheek, “Open your eyes, please.

One inhale. Two. And then five. Until it was twenty before Baekhyun finally opened his eyes. And what he saw had he took his breath away.

The look Chanyeol had on his face was filled with utter fondness. There was a tenderness in his eyes as he stared at Baekhyun’s face, a brittle smile in place.

“Baekhyun, don’t you see? I don’t plan on breaking you. I never will. I want to give you the world if you would allow me.”

Baekhyun sniffled, “But, you just met me?”

“And yet, here I am. Fond and falling.”

“You’re such a sap,” but he was already crying.

Chanyeol was quick to hug, patting the back of his head gently. He rocked them softly. “I just wish to be there for you until you’re truly ready.”

The taller pulled back so he could look at him, “Won’t you let me?”

Baekhyun’s face crumpled, tears falling from the corner of his eyes as he nodded his head. “Are you sure? I’ve barely moved on from what happened to me. I don’t want to burden you.”

“Oh, my sweet little petal,” Chanyeol cooed, “It would be an honor to witness you heal yourself and be there to catch you when you’re finally willing to fall in love once more.”

God, you’re so cheesy,” Baekhyun sniffled, rolling his eyes in mock annoyance. But it didn’t last long as he couldn’t help the soft giggles from escaping him. He hid his face against the taller’s neck, feeling safe and oh so grateful to have met him when he did.

He finally understood why he wasn’t as mad and bitter as he had expected when his ex cheated on him and broke his trust, because it made him realize that if he was capable of such love for the wrong person, then wouldn’t his love for the right person be even more beautiful?

And he couldn’t wait to show Chanyeol just that - the love he was capable to give him. Because he knows. He just knows that Park Chanyeol is the right one for him.

end.
