Chapter 1: Feverversary ☆ BakuDeku

Chapter Text

Chapter One. Feverversary, BakuDeku.

Katsuki and Izuku were finally about to go on a vacation after working almost non-stop in their agency. They were going to Hawaii, USA, for their 3 year anniversary of marriage. Neither of them could be more excited.

They've been talking nonstop about getting an escape from hero work for a week, packing all sorts of tropical clothing, and throwing in a few nice outfits for romantic dinners. They've both been feeling excited, except for Izuku on the night before their 06:00 flight to Hawaii. He couldn't stop tossing and turning in his shared bed with Katsuki.

It was currently 23:15 and only 4 hours left until their alarm to wake up for the airport. Katsuki fell asleep around 20:00, having to work the whole day while Izuku had only the morning shift.

His head was pounding and his stomach shifted uneasily every time he moved. Izuku made his mind set on the feeling that he was perfectly fine, just anxious about the upcoming flight. Somewhere in the back of his mind though, he knew he was feeling more sick than just pre-flight nerves.

By the time 01:00 rolled around, Izuku felt so nauseous that he considered going to lean over the toilet, but he held it back with determination to not disturb his husband's much-needed sleep. He popped a few melatonin from his nightstand dry, taking everything in him to not gag on them. He was determined to get at least a few hours of sleep tonight.

He scrolled through many different social media apps and news platforms to try and distract himself from his stomach. He finally was able to fall asleep with an extra blanket draped over him by 01:27.

Katsuki groaned awake to the sound of the bedside alarm clock. He lazily pushed all the buttons, just making sure the dreadful noise stopped. The clock read 03:00. He turned over to look at Izuku, now becoming more excited to start their adventurous vacation today.

"Hey baby, you ready?" Katsuki said, voice rough with the disuse of it through the night as he saw Izuku's eyes open to look at him.

Izuku woke up with a splintering headache. Opening his eyes felt like needles being stabbed back from his eyes. He plastered on a smile though and replied with a nod. "I love you so much" Izuku managed as Katsuki moved some spare curls from Izuku's face.

Katsuki gave him a kiss on the bridge of his nose before pushing back the covers and beginning to get ready. Izuku followed suit, just in a much slower fashion.

Izuku had to leave to go to the bathroom many times before they were ready to leave. His stomach was seriously upset from something he must've eaten. He really wasn't looking forward to the 8-hour flight and commotion to get to the hotel.

Upon arriving at the airport by Uber, Katsuki was starting to become worried about his husband. He wouldn't out him just yet though. Izuku tended to be nervous when flying anyways.

They busied themselves by getting their luggage checked in Sky Priority in the Delta Airlines field. Soon making it to TSA for weaponry check, put their bags in the conveyor belt, and stepped through the metal detector. Izuku could feel himself become more and more nauseous as they bustled around.

By 06:00, they were walking around the gates of the airport, looking for something to eat. The thought of food made Izuku want to gag, but he kept his feelings to himself while Katsuki mostly kept on with their conversation.

"Hey, you sure you don't want something to eat?" Katsuki asked Izuku, hand in hand. They had stopped at a Deli shop, where they had decent sandwiches and salads.

"Yeah, I'm just not that hungry right now, I promise I'm alright babe." Katsuki gave him a concerned look, letting go of their hands to rub up and down his arm in a comforting way, still ordering his husband water just in case.

He dropped it for now though, not wanting to jump to conclusions. Soon enough the food came, along with the water he ordered for Izuku, and they made their way back to their designated gate.

As they sat down, Izuku nearly immediately closed his eyes and set his backpack on the floor in front of them. Katsuki gently pulled Izuku's head to lay on his shoulder, running his fingers through green curls in a relaxing manner.

Katsuki couldn't help but notice the way Izuku kept his arms over his stomach in a protective manner, or the way his face kept scrunching up in an uncomfortable look of pain every few moments.

"You feeling okay, love?"

Izuku had no choice but to give in, feeling so nauseous that he forced himself to begin looking around for a bathroom or at least a trash bin to throw up in, in case of an emergency. "I'm feeling really nauseous actually… I think I'm gonna throw up." He said, lacing one of his arms tighter over his stomach and bringing the hand of his other arm up to cup over his mouth. He sat up from leaning on Katsuki.

"Woah woah hey, do you think you can make it to a restroom?" Katsuki quickly slung both of their backpacks onto separate shoulders and darted his eyes around to look for a private bathroom. Izuku felt like vomiting if he opened his mouth, so he opted for just nodding in response.

Katsuki quickly spotted a solo family restroom, knowing that Izuku would feel terrible having to be sick in front of everybody. He ushered Izuku in, locking the door behind them as he quickly knelt next to Izuku, bringing a hand to hold back his bangs while the other rubbed against his back in an attempt to be soothing.

"You're okay, just breathe," Katsuki said in almost a trance. Izuku had tears down his cheeks, leaning into Katsuki's touch on his back. This was horrible. Not only did Katsuki find out how he was feeling, but he was also stuck over the airport toilet waiting to throw up.

After moments of suffering made a bit better by Katsuki's mantle of comforting words, Izuku finally got to the point where his breathing became stable, instead of his prior quick uneven breaths.

Just as he gained his control, he felt a gag as a hot liquid made its way to the back of his throat. He pulled himself further over the toilet as he vomited up brownish, sour stomach acid accompanied with last night's dinner. He instantly felt hot and sweaty, energy-depleting as he coughed up more sick into the porcelain toilet.

Izuku was almost to the point of sobbing when he was left with nothing else to be forced out of his stomach, miserably dry heaving over the toilet.

After a few minutes of sitting there in agony, Katsuki tried to see if he was well enough to be able to board the plane.

"You're okay baby, do you feel any better?" Katsuki asked, concern lacing his tone and face. Something that would be unusual seeing from anyone other than Izuku.

He nodded his head softly as his stomach finally began to feel settled for the first time that day. "Feels a lot better now. I think I just needed to get that out of my system." He said a lot more enthusiastically as he started to stand, flushing the toilet while taking a hold of his dark gray backpack himself.

"Are you sure? I'm positive we can make our flight push to tomorrow if you're not feeling well. I don't want you to have to be sick on the plane." Katsuki stood as well, placing his arms around Izuku's shoulders as he stood over the sink, retrieving his travel-portioned mouthwash from his bag.

"No no! I promise babe I feel a lot better. I would feel even worse if we minimized our vacation. I'm sure it's just plane nerves!" Izuku had convinced, and truly, he was feeling a lot better than he previously had been. He just wasn't sure how long his window was before he began feeling sick again. He hoped it was until after he and his husband enjoyed their anniversary vacation, or just never.

□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□

Izuku was miserable. His stomach felt like it was digesting itself, taking nauseous flips nearly constantly. They were only 3 hours in on their flight, Katsuki was texting on his phone after they had paid for free texting on the route, and while Izuku was sitting, he was contemplating whether he was going to vomit or not.

Izuku eventually got up from his seat, hand over mouth, and quickly trudged to the front of the plane. He had no choice but to ignore Katsukis worried look up to him as he left for now.

He was more thankful for being first class now than he ever has been before. Eyes shining in relief when the bathroom had been unlocked, he frantically locked himself in as he nearly immediately heaved over the toilet, barely making it in time.

He lowered himself to his knees as he felt another gag, as another flow of vomit spilled over his lips. He sat there for a while after, controlling his breathing and stopping his tears. He knew he was hogging the bathroom, but he figured it would be better if he did take up the bathroom than throw up in front of an entire plane of people.

Izuku eventually deemed himself stable enough to exit the bathroom without causing a scene. He washed his mouth multiple times with the tap water, trying to get the taste of vomit out of his mouth before taking to chewing on some mint gum.

He eventually sat back down next to Katsuki, thinking of an excuse to cover up the fact that he felt miserable.

Thankfully, Katsuki didn't push it. Izuku didn't know if he would be able to come up with a good excuse right now. He was really tired.

"C'mere, I love you." Katsuki inquired, lifting the armrest between them to pull Izuku closer. Izuku sighed, wrapping one of his arms around Katsuki's and connecting hands, curling his legs inwards on the seat.

"I love you too," Izuku whispered back, feeling sleep tug at his eyes. He could only hope he didn't feel like this throughout their entire vacation. He would feel horrible about ruining their anniversary.

Katsuki ran his free hand through Izuku's curls, feeling the man relax against his side. Only moments later Izuku closed his eyes and managed to fall asleep. Katsuki got some shut-eye as well, the two of them only waking up every so often when the flight attendants came around with snacks or drinks.

□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□

Katsuki had been awake for about 30 minutes prior to when Izuku jerked awake as the plane finally harshly landed on the runway. His stomach revolted immediately from stopping so quickly. He sat up from Katsuki quickly, gagging into his hand. He was sure he was going to vomit right there and be humiliated.

Katsuki saw his husband's distress, immediately grabbing the small paper emergency bag tucked in the front pocket of their seat. He carefully pressed it into Izuku's hands just in case, taking to rubbing his back after. Any words he tried to say were covered by the loud sound of the engines slowing down.

Izuku took long deep breaths, he didn't have anything left in his stomach to throw up. The plane pulled into the designated gate and finally stopped moving. His stomach didn't feel settled at all, but he didn't feel on the verge of throwing up at least.

"Are you feeling sick still?" Katsuki asked as the announcements went on, saying their arrival time and destination, etc.

"Just for a second, I think it was just from the quick stopping. I'm feeling a lot better already." Izuku replied, smiling at Katsuki before he put the unused bag back into the seat pocket in front of him. He began grabbing their carry-ons from the overhead luggage space. They were the second people off of the plane from being first class.

Baggage claim was easy and effortless as they were sky priority, and soon they were heading over to their taxi to bring them to the Sensei Lanai hotel in Hawaii.

They found the cab they were designated to take, a light gray Porsche with heavily tinted windows. The inside had a small fridge with sodas and many portion sizes of fine wines.

Katsuki took a Cabernet Sauvignon while Izuku just took bottled water and sat behind the driver. Katsuki sat opposite him.

The driver and Katsuki engaged in small conversations as Izuku fell asleep with his head against the window. As the car became quiet though Katsuki thought about Izuku. He was beyond concerned for his husband. Izuku has always had more of a weaker stomach than himself, but he is medicated for his anxiety, and even before he's never gotten sick from being on a plane. Katsuki was ready to cancel their dinner plans for the night, deeming it to be better for Izuku to take the night off no matter what was wrong. He decided to keep his worries contained for now though, hoping Izuku be alright after they arrived at the hotel.

□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□

"Baby wake up, we're here," Katsuki said rather softly, shaking the man's shoulder a bit. He blinked awake only seconds later, smiling up at Katsuki as he received a light kiss from the other. He was feeling a little better after he slept through the car ride here.

Izuku got out and began to collect their luggage from the trunk and lit a cigarette as Katsuki thanked and tipped their driver.

Izuku saw Katsukis's disappointed look, pointedly at his cigarette as he grabbed his luggage. He couldn't figure out a reply to it as neither of them wanted to argue about him quitting smoking throughout their vacation as they have done before. He knew Katsuki wouldn't be afraid to bring it up when they got home though.

They both let go of their slight complications as Izuku put out his cigarette and left it in an ashtray outside the building and continued to begin checking into the hotel. Izuku didn't mention how he was starting to feel the twinge of nausea in the back of his throat again. He was not going to ruin this vacation.

By the time they got checked in, wristbands on, and into their suite, Izuku was about ready to kneel over a toilet again. He didn't think he could even be sick again, hadn't eaten a single thing in almost 24 hours, only drinking small amounts of water. He was still keeping up in his conversation with Katsuki though, about the restaurant they were going to be attending tonight.

"Are you sure you're feeling good enough to go to dinner tonight?" Katsuki asked as he used his key which was located on his wristband to open the door to their room.

"Of course, we'll go to dinner tonight babe. We're not gonna miss our first night." He replied back, immediately shutting his mouth after. He was not feeling well at all.

"Hey, I'm gonna shower real quick, I feel gross after being in the airport all day." Izuku said, at last, closing the bathroom door after he heard Katsuki reply with an 'alright, I'm going to start unpacking.' He was surprised he was able to say that sentence without gagging. He turned the knob to the shower for to cover up any noise before collapsing to his knees in front of the toilet. He threw up only moments later, content he didn't even know he had left in his stomach. He stayed kneeling over the toilet as he felt another surge of vomit in the back of his throat come out harshly over his lips. He really felt sick. He took a deep breath in through his nose and out through his mouth though, he had to get in the shower soon to not draw any suspicion to himself. He was thankful he brought his backpack into the bathroom with him, so he could brush his teeth.

He grabbed his toothbrush and paste from his bag and entered the hot shower with them in hand. He quickly washed with the provided shampoo, conditioner and body wash, brushing his teeth in the meantime. He was slightly irritated he forgot his curl treatment, but his stomach hurt too bad to really pay any mind to it. The heat from the shower did help with the ache a little bit though.

He stepped out of the shower, coming out of the bathroom in just his towel. He smiled as Katsuki looked him up and down from unloading his suitcase. He kissed Izuku on the neck, before stopping as he felt how warm Izuku was.

"You're warm baby." Katsuki moved his hand over his husband's forehead, his face bearing more of a concerned emotion. Izuku had his excuse ready though.

"I'm just warm from the shower, it was nice and relaxing, you should take one." Izuku lied, keeping eye contact with his husband. Katsuki flicked the tip of his nose.

"Idiot. Put some clothes on nerd." Izuku couldn't help but smile at him as he walked into the bathroom. Izuku started pulling his clothes out of his suitcase and into the set of drawers on the left side of the bed, the side he slept in at home as well. He managed to fill out his drawers and finish putting everything of his away before his stomach started hurting again. These windows of not feeling sick to his stomach were continuing to get smaller, Izuku laid down on their shared bed for now until Katsuki got out of the shower, trying to make the ache go away for as long as possible.

Izuku woke in a startle at a loud beeping on his right side. He whipped his sweat-covered head to look at the source, relieved to find out it's only Katsuki’s phone alarm. That’s when the confusion hit about why Katsuki’s phone was going off. Wasn’t he in the shower..?
He then felt a movement from the other side of the bed, then the alarm stopped. He looked to see it was his husband in bed next to him, only in a t-shirt and boxers, looking half asleep still.

“Kacchan..? What are you doing in here..” Izuku groaned tiredly, his head was starting to compare in pain to his stomach, which was currently nauseously on fire.

“Mmm, you fell asleep and I came in with you. I set an alarm to get ready for dinner. It’s 18:45 right now. Dinners at 19:45” Katsuki said, waking himself up more. Katsuki swung his legs over the edge of the bed, gruffly standing up.

“You still feeling well enough to go to dinner?” He added, looking Izuku in the eyes as he started to get out of bed as well.

“Yeah, I’m okay. I haven’t felt sick since being on the airplane. I’m sure it’s gone by now.” Izuku blatantly lied. He knew it was disloyal to be dishonest to your spouse, but he would feel a lot worse by ruining their night than lying about feeling sick.

Katsuki decided to drop the conversation afterward, talking about the type of restaurant they were going to instead. He figured if he hadn’t thrown up or felt nauseous since the plane then it must have just been his anxiety. Katsuki wondered if they needed to up his medication or if it was just his anxiety spiking up again.

As they got ready for their dinner at a fancy restaurant located on the beach that was connected to their hotel, Izuku began to feel extremely sweaty in his outfit. It was some nice gray khakis and a tucked-in collared shirt with shirt sleeves, he didn't know why he was so unbearably hot. His hair began plastering to his forehead, using his forearm to wipe it off every few moments.

"Hey, you alright? You look pale baby.." Katsuki observed from Izuku. The more he looked at his husband, the more Katsuki becomes convinced that they should've stayed at the hotel.

"I'm okay… Just kinda hot all of the sudden. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about. I love you." Izuku replied as Katsuki took a hold of his hand to begin their walk to the restaurant.

"I love you too. If you feel sick at all just tell me and we can leave okay? I want you to feel comfortable tonight." Katsuki said while unconnected their hands for a moment to flick Izuku behind his head. Izuku smiled a bit before nodding, adding a short okay to his answer as well.

By the time they got to the restaurant, Izuku didn't know what he was going to do. Even the thought of food made him want to throw up right there. But, he knew he was going to have to eat something to keep Katsuki at bay. If he didn't eat as well, Katsuki wouldn't let it go.

A server immediately came up to them to take drink orders, having excellent customer service. Izuku ordered an Asian Cucumber cocktail, wanting more of a subtle drink. Katsuki took to having a Ban de Vendange. Izuku kept up with their conversations, but more answering in smiles and nods as he starts to feel nauseous as he thought about eating.

Soon later their drinks came, and they were asked for their meal orders. Izuku ordered a salmon and seared vegetable platter while Katsuki went for the steak meal. He was not looking forward to having to digest something. Even taking sips of his Asian Cucumber, he felt queasy as the drink went to his stomach.

□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□□

Izuku couldn't eat anymore. He had gotten nearly 7 bites into his meal before he felt like vomiting if he ate another thing. His salmon was just about halfway gone and one green was gone from the laid out vegetables on the other side of the plate. He had been eating so slowly too when he looked up at his husband, he was already almost completely done with his food.

“You alright babe? You look like you’re feeling sick..” Katsuki stated as he looked into Izuku’s eyes, noticing his unusual pale complexion contrasting against the rosiness of his cheeks. He also noticed the way he had hesitated before taking each bite of his food, which was left uneaten in front of the man.

Izuku didn’t know how to answer though. Stuck between telling a lie that he was alright, or finally telling Katsuki how bad he felt right now. He felt his stomach doing nauseous flips, threatening to leap to his throat any moment now. He couldn't help but give in to his husband. He really just wanted to feel better at this point.

"I- My stomach really isn't feeling well actually." Izuku finally said after moments of silence between the two of them.

"Do you think you're gonna throw up again..?" Katsuki asked, beginning to look for an exit or bathroom, having a feeling he already knew the answer to his question. He spotted a back door exit only a few tables away from them. The thing about being in an all-inclusive resort, they didn't have to pay for any meals, only leaving a tip which was optional. Katsuki slipped a 100$ bill USD onto the table earlier for tips, Izuku and himself both liked to tip big.

Although when Izuku tried to form a response to Katsuki, he immediately had to shoot up a cupped hand to his mouth as he gagged wetly over it. He was going to throw up no matter if he made it to a restroom or not. Izuku frantically looked up to Katsuki, seeing as the other man had already begun to take action, determined to make Izuku feel the least amount of embarrassment possible.

"Okay, okay, deep breaths baby." Katsuki soothed as he led Izuku's shaking body quickly out the back door which was thankfully not a popular exit, they were the only ones over there. Immediately as they got outside, Izuku turned to a bush and vomited up everything he had just eaten in a rush through his mouth.

Immediately as he finished he felt more sick in the back of his throat, waiting to come up. He lowered himself to his knees on the grass instead of just leaning over to the side. Katsuki followed him down.

"Hey baby, do you think you're gonna be sick again?" Katsuki could only wonder throughout the whole ordeal how long Izuku had been hiding how he was feeling from him.

Izuku could only pitifully responded in retching over the grass, sick burning through his throat up to and through his nose and mouth. He was in tears of pain at this point, finding a small soothing sense from his husband's hand rubbing on his back and the other petting through his sweaty hair. After he was finished, he sat back on his knees with his hands holding him up on his thighs.

“Do you feel well enough to walk back to the room?” Katsuki asked, able to carry said man if he needed to. Their hotel wasn't far away, only around the bend, but there was a flight of stairs needed to get to their room. Izuku sniffled, rubbing his nose with the back of his palm before nodding and beginning to stand up. He really didn't know why he was feeling so sick suddenly. He felt perfectly fine yesterday.

On their slow way back, the duo holding hands tightly, Katsuki decided to break their comfortable silence. “Were you feeling sick any other times today?” His voice held no anger or even irritation in it, soft all over for Izuku.

Izuku sighed before just telling the truth at last. “On the plane and right before I took my shower I threw up as well. Besides that, I guess I’ve just been feeling icky since this morning.” They stepped into their room, Izuku going to brush his teeth as soon as they got inside, before sitting on the edge of the bed next to Katsuki.

“Baby why didn’t you tell me you were feeling sick earlier, we could’ve just taken the night off so you could rest.”

“I- I didn’t want to be a burden and ruin our first night here. This is supposed to be a vacation, not a have to take care of me day. I’m sorry.” He put a hand over his eyes as he failed to stop the tears that trailed down his face. Katsuki pulled him to lie down in bed, both of them being face to face.

“Stop that. You know I love you so much right baby? You mean everything to me and all I want is for you to be okay. The whole reason for this vacation was just to spend time with you, and if spending time with you is in bed while you get better, then that's exactly what I want it to be. I will always want to take care of you.” He took his thumbs and ran them under Izuku’s now uncovered eyes, wiping the tears off his face. Izuku just nodded into Katsukis's touch, more tears flowing out of his eyes unwillingly. He loved Katsuki so much.

They eventually fell asleep in each other's arms after changing out of their clothes. Katsuki made sure that Izuku knew he was loved in every way possible, no matter if he was sick or not. Halfway through the week, Izuku was back on his feet in time for their actual anniversary on their fifth day. Neither of them could be happier, and neither of them could love the other more.

Omg!!!! The ending was so hard to write for some reason! Anyways, I hope you enjoyed the first chapter of this story!! (-: (btw this is not beta-read lol so there's gonna be some grammar and spelling errors!!) About 4300 words.
