Chapter Text
There were two characteristic traits in Gomez Addams. His twisted but cheerful sense of humor (characteristic Addams.) and his burning passion for his beloved wife. Wednesday grew up developing the first, but of course with a much more gloomy tone than her father. After all it was impossible to be an Addams and not have that attraction for the morbid. About the second... She never thought that it would be something that she would have to take care of or even consider in her life, the problem is that when she noticed it was already too late.
Wednesday was slowly getting wrapped up in that special dynamic she had with Enid. In such a natural and slow way that she didn't even have time to notice it or even try to avoid it.
-I can understand that last time you brought your board with the clues of the murderer here... But now why do you have a dashboard on some of the most famous unsolved cases here?-. Eugene asked seeing how Wednesday again brought a strange board to with his bees, although it was like the last one in having several photos of the cases that were presented. This time he did not understand what he was doing there and what was the aim of that board.
-Enid doesn't like photos of dead bodies in our room-. Wednesday responded calmly, while she continuing to organize some of the items contained in the board.
-And... What's it for?-. Eugene was still curious about the presence of the new board and the answer given by the Gothic had only focused on the comfort of her roommate.
-Nothing interesting has happened lately, I need to distract my mind on something before I go crazy. Starting to investigatethese cases in more depth could help me with the development of my novel-. Wednesday remained thoughtful before her board and kept ordering some details in it. She always maintaining detail and perfection in everything that mattered to her.
-You know... I wouldn't want to have pictures of dead bodies here either, I don't like them either-. Eugene took a chance on his comment, innocently hoping to have the same consideration as Wednesday had with Enid. After all they were also good friends and Wednesday could do that for him too.
-It's a shame, but you'll have to learn to deal with it- Eugene had made a mistake and couldn't even say he was surprised by it. He always noticed that Wednesday had a kind of special regard for the lycanthrope and never understood why, and he also seemed to notice that the goth didn't notice the special treatment her friend made.
-I could help you move it if that's what bothers you, or get a new place to put it-. Eugene decided to insist a little. He knew that he was below Enid in the list of friends or as Wednesday liked to say "People of consideration" that she had, but he believed that if he could a little more on his part he could achieve something to get the board that also occupied almost half of the room of their beloved bees.
Eugene did not get an answer to his question, he had probably been absolutely ignored by his partner. So he interpreted this lack of response as an obvious refusal to his request.
-There is something you could help me with-. That statement made Eugene notice that he had was heard, but that only part of his words had was been taken into consideration and were not exactly what he most expected. Even so, he was a little curious to know what kind of favor Wednesday Addams could ask for, after all, the times he did it always ended up giving some excitement to Eugene's life, although sometimes something could go wrong, so he would not refuse this time.
-What's happening Wednesday? – Eugene commented somewhat excitedly, hoping that this would be the beginning of a new adventure.
-I want to plant something nearby, I was wondering if we had the necessary tools to do it and if we do not have them, I need you to tell me where we can get them- . Wednesday averted her gaze for a moment from her board to dedicate it to Eugene. It was a somewhat strange request, but good things never came out of questioning Wednesday too much.
-I just hope you don't bury a corpse, we have some shovels and other things around here, but as far as fertilizer, insecticides and things like that we don't have, you can apply for use in the garden club or buy some things in Jericho. Next time we go I can point you to the store-. Eugene answered truthfully, he didn't expect Wednesday to tell him what she was going to plant and probably the only way he would find out would be to find it by accident.
-Unfortunately there is no corpse to bury and if I had I assure you that you would not know-. Those were the only words that Eugene received as a response about this subject, which would probably never again be consulted unless it was absolutely necessary. He felt between fear and curiosity about this new interest of the Gothic. The only thing he hoped was that they were not poisonous plants or that they could harm his precious bees, this time he would allow himself to trust his friend, at least for the last of his thoughts.
Eugene decided to accept that the board would not leave the place, so he left that small room to devote a little more attention to the apiaries that he kept on the outside. When a somewhat strange presence appeared in his field of vision.
-Eugene Hi, Have you seen Wednesday?- it was Enid looking for her roommate, she still had some already inconspicuous marks on her face that showed everyone that she had been responsible for end the Hyde.
Enid wasn't particularly proud of those marks and she was worried about how slowly they disappeared. After all her abilities as a werewolf included much faster regeneration than an average human, but she had already accepted that those marks would probably never quite disappear from her face.
-She is inside with her new board-. Eugene answered somewhat nervous by the presence of the blonde. Enid had recently ended her relationship with Ajax, so maybe now if he could have a chance with her, that was a hope he would never completely lose. Although out of her nervousness he noticed that Enid looked at him with curiosity, and not with that curiosity of "I am interested in you" as he would have liked, it was rather a curiosity that denoted a level of confusion about his words.
-A board?– Enid decided to speak to answer her curiosity.
-You know, the board she took out of her room. About unsolved murders and things like that, it's pretty explicit about the photos. You're lucky that Wednesday again listened to you about getting it out of they room, I tried and I didn't get anything-. Eugene was talking a lot because of his nervousness, so much so that he hadn't even noticed how Enid didn't have the slightest idea of the existence of that board.
Eugene had once again was ignored, Enid only gave him a small smile and decided to enter the room of the club where Wednesday was.
-Wends, you promised me that this time I could take care of painting your nails-. Enid entered the room with some care, taking into consideration Eugene's words about a mysterious board that she probably wouldn't like.
When she finished entering she noticed that indeed it was, Wednesday was in front of that board with horrible photos, taking notes in one of the notebooks she always carried with her. The gothic still did not attend to his presence, she was probably too absorbed in what was in front of her.
-Wends... What is this?-. Finally Enid had interrupted the thoughts of the gothic, she was standing next to her touching her shoulder with the other girl's, somehow both always ended up stuck to the other and never meant something uncomfortable for either of them.
-I'm researching for my novel, I didn't put it in our room considering what happened to the last of these-. Wednesday responded by giving Enid a brief look, this time she didn't even consider putting it in the room they shared that explained why she didn't know the existence of the board. It was strange to learn that Wednesday remembered her and had decided to act by putting Enid's comfort above her personal interests. That somewhat innocent thought made her smile a little, probably Wednesday hadn't thought about it so much, so at the same time she felt a little silly to analyze it that way.
-I don't understand where you got those photos, it's kind of disgusting... Is my chance to take care of your hands still standing? – Enid decided to ignore the board for the sake of her stomach, she was already much more used to Wednesday's grotesque things and blood, but this was still too much and absolutely unnecessary for her.
Wednesday didn't give her an answer, but she heard a sigh, which meant she was looking for her best excuse, which by not showing up quickly she assumed wouldn't really be a good excuse. Enid was supposed to use her best weapon right now, she wasn't sure when she noticed it worked, but it always worked.
-Σας παρακαλούμε- Her Greek was somewhat rusty because she didn't use it until before she noticed Wednesday say yes to anything when she used it. At least she still remembered enough to use simple words, which included saying please and making her best puppy face abandoned just to boost the chance of a yes.
-Okay-. Wednesday had felt a chill down her spine, she wasn't sure why that was happening, but she had an incredible soft spot for Enid speaking Greek. Sometimes she felt on the verge of being able to abandon absolutely all logical thinking and snatch away what she was doing, just to kiss the blonde's hand. She had never heard anyone else speak in fluent Greek, and she wasn't entirely sure whether to attribute those effects only to Enid, but she loved hearing her speak Greek, even if they were just simple words.
Both had arrived in their room and Thing was there waiting for them as usual, but this time he kept a letter by his side that he pointed to as soon as they both entered. Probably a letter from the Addams family due to the black color of the envelope and the silver letters that adorned the name of Wednesday Addams written on the back. Wednesday was curious about the letter, but she let it rest in that place at least until Enid finished her work, it bothered her to admit it but did not want to make the blonde wait any longer, deep down she also craved the warmth of her hands on hers that always remained icy.
Enid didn't talk much in the process. She was aware of how difficult it was for Wednesday to maintain all that physical contact with her so she tried hard not to bother her anymore and just enjoy that quiet moment, yet she talked a little, after all it was Enid.
-You have very soft hands-. Enid was concentrating on painting Wednesday's nails black. Wednesday did not answer, although she curled her lips in what seemed like a kind of smile, but she could notice how a certain hand was paying too much attention to everything that was happening, which seemed particularly strange to him.
Wednesday hardened her gaze again and was dedicated it to the disembodied hand that still rested next to the letter, hoping that it would stop what it was supposed to been doing and that whatever his plan was this time, it would not work.
A few minutes later Enid had finished painting her nails. They were in her classic all flat black, although this time she had allowed Enid to put one of her pale pink nails on each hand, while Enid's were the opposite, being most of a pink color except for her two black nails, so you could say that they were going together . She found Wednesday absolutely grotesque and almost felt like vomiting, but at the same time she had a small sense of enjoyment in the situation, which she attributed to the sensation of pain caused by seeing the color in her nails .
Already then she decided to open the letter, which was effectively from the Addams mansion.
"Dear storm cloud, I wanted to remind you that later this month is the commemoration of the birth oflittle Pubert. You wouldn't like you to come home that weekend so you could torment your brother and join the family party.
A hand told me that you are starting to torment someone else. I would also like you to bring that person who is going to bear the surname Addams, I want to prove him or her. although I am more than sure that they will be a worthy person. I hope the rest of your week will be awful. With affection your father Gomez Addams."
Wednesday needed to read the letter twice to start processing what she was reading, Enid looked at her curiously from her bed. It was not normal for Wednesday to stay so long reading a letter that did not even look so long. Finally, Wednesday left the letter on her desk and decided to approach the disembodied hand, she would probably have to amputate some fingers for giving her father the wrong impression about something that was clearly not happening, Wednesday was not even sure who Thing had written things to her about, but she was sure she would regret it.
-Thing, I need explanations for this unnecessary and completely stupid betrayal-. Wednesday began to approach the hand as his hand moved away until he hid behind Enid. Enid was forced to stop her friend's behavior, she would not allow her to hurt a family member like this.
Wednesday was discussing whether to let Enid know this situation or not, but probably if she wanted to kill Thing she would have to explain to Enid what was going on.
-My father asked me to come home in two more weeks-. Wednesday said as she looked at the hand, waiting for Thing to come out of Enid's protection to face his inevitable fate. Enid looked at the Gothic woman with confusion, she was sure that was not the problem she wanted to kill the hand for, but somehow it was related.
-So what's the problem, Wends?-. Enid tried to understand Wednesday's behavior, but she wasn't sure if she could understand it after all.
-That hand that hides like a coward made my father believe a wrong idea that I have not the slightest idea where it came from . So my father expects him to take a potential couple with me-. Wednesday responded somewhat surrendered to her words. She really had not the slightest idea about what her father meant about "starting to torment someone else". She tormented everyone by and she had not the slightest idea who that person Thing had written about was supposed to be. Instead, Enid looked absolutely astonished.
-Tell me you don't have to take Tyler, I don't want to see him again, plus we don't know where he is now-. Enid spoke somewhat quickly, he was the only person who crossed her mind at the time, but then she kept thinking. -Don't tell me it's Xavier?, it's nice but I didn't think you really liked it that way-.
-Enid stop, I don't like anyone. The real culprit of this situation is Thing, now give it to me so I can amputate his fingers and tell me what he is supposed to have told my father. Wednesday felt a small twinge when noticing Enid's considerations as an answer, She was not sure why, but it was probably because of how repulsive it seemed to him that either of those two boys was her partner.
-I understand you don't want to tell me Wends. After all, things went very wrong with Tyler, but I want you to know that you have my unconditional support as your best friend-. Enid stood up and prevented Wednesday from taking possession of the hand. Instead she started giving her a kind of speech about how much she would support her in her new relationship and how she could give her a good advice if she wanted to, even if she had broken up with her boyfriend recently. This situation only managed to exhaust Wednesday's patience, which in itself was little.
-Enid stop-. Wednesday finally spoke to her giving her a look of disgust, which was not common for it to happen, so Enid decided to stop in her tracks. Enid's words had done Wednesday some harm and while she wasn't entirely sure why, she knew she didn't want Enid to give her advice on dating someone else, she had no interest in dating anyone right now. -There is really no one, do not insist on that stupidity-. Wednesday had given up on the situation, she knew that Enid wouldn't allow her to hurt Thing and now she'd have to think of a way to properly explain to her father that she wouldn't take anyone, which would be difficult because she wasn't sure what things Thing had said.
Enid decided to listen to her and leave the room with the hand, she was sure that there was something in all this. Thing wouldn't let go of something like that so lightly, let alone just to annoy Wednesday. She didn't know much about the Addams, but she had understood that romance and that sort of thing was really important to that family.
-Thing, I need you to explain everything to me-. The hand was now on his shoulder and he felt some blows on it, which indicated that the hand would tell him some things. The love investigator Enid moment had definitely begun, although Wednesday denied it, she would act as her best friend and help Wednesday discover her feelings for that mysterious person.
