Chapter Text
Ever since the kidnapping, Katsuki had been different with his friends. He was cold with his friends, he struggled to sleep, eat, anything. Katsuki started avoiding his friends at lunch, not even stepping foot in the lunchroom. He couldn't stand the excessive noise, the people. He couldn't handle the feeling of eyes on him. People treated him differently. He hated the pity and the looks of empathy from everyone. He wasn't fragile, he didn't need help or pity.
In class, Katsuki wasn't his usual focused attentive self. Everyone noticed, but no one was brave enough to say anything, until Kirishima had snapped.
After class had ended for the day, Katsuki escaped from the classroom as fast as he could. He didn't want to stick around to see any looks of pity or the feeling of awkwardness. He was about to make it out the door, but the hand on his shoulder made him halt. He felt like he was taken back to the kidnapping. Dabi's hand gripping his neck as they're pulled through the portal.
"Get your hand off me." Katsuki was freaking out, sparks popping from his palms.
"Woah, calm down Bakubro." Kirishima put his hands up in defense.
"What do you want shitty hair?" Katsuki turned to face Kirishima, glaring at him.
"Dude, what the hell's wrong with you?" Kirishima frowned.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Katsuki crossed his arms defensively.
"You've changed. You're an asshole. A bigger asshole than you usually are. What gives?"
"Oh please. Give me a fucking break. " Katsuki rolled his eyes, turning to leave.
"Damnit Kat, talk to me." Kirishima pleaded.
"Fuck off Kirishima." Katsuki huffed.
"You're so ungrateful." Kirishima's gaze hardened.
"What the fuck's that supposed to mean?" Katsuki could feel the anger Kirishima felt rolling off hum, scaring him like he was scared by the league.
"You're just so ungrateful. I rescued you from the league and you never even said thank you." Kirishima stared at Katsuki, waiting for a response.
"Why the fuck should I have to thank you?! I didn't ask you to rescue me!" Katsuki felt the rage building inside of him.
" You didn't have to! That's just what friends do!" Kirishima threw his hands up in defeat.
"When did I ever say we were friends?" Katsuki heard the words leave his lips, having no control of what he was saying.
"WoI.. Okay then." Kirishima's demeanor changed.
"W-wait.. I didn't mean-" Katsuki tried to take back what he said immediately regretting it.
"Nah, I get it man. We're not friends." Kirishima began backing up. "God I can't believe I was so stupid. Look. I think it's best if we don't speak to each other again."
Katsuki felt his world crashing down around him. "Fine." He choked back tears.
"Fine." Kirishima walked away, not looking back.
Katsuki let out a sob, covering his mouth. He needed to get out of there, fast. He ran to the bathroom, locking himself in a stall. He hated when he got like this. His mother had always told him that emotions made him weak. Now more than ever he needed to be strong. He couldn't let them see they got to him. He wasn't weak. He didn't need friends.
Wiping his tears, hw unlocked the stall and left, making his way to the dorms.

Once he'd made it to the dorms, he saw his friends- or rather old friends. They were in the common room, huddled up around Kirishima. He looked distressed. Karsuki scoffed. He was the one that got kidnapped. If anyone should be distressed it should be him. He tried to make it to the stairs, but was stopped by someone calling his name.
"Katsuki!" Mina screamed at him.
Katsuki paused mid-stair and sighed."Can I help you?"
Mina scoffed. "Yeah, what the fuck is wrong with you?!"
Katsuki rolled his eyes. "Dear God, not another one."
"Excuse me?!" Mina got closer to him.
"Let's just get this over with; you hate me and don't want to be my friend anymore, right? Fine by me." Katsuki crossed his arms acting cold, hoping that he could hold the tears back.
"You really are an asshole. I can't believe you Bakugo." Mina shook her head and walked away. Katsuki glanced at the rest of the group, cringing when he saw the look of hatred they had for him.
"I don't need you anyway." Katsuki said quietly, loud enough for the group to hear. He didn't stick around any longer, quickly retreating to the safety of his bedroom.

Izuku walked over to the group, fumes practically rolling off him. "What the hell was that about?!"
Kirishima looked over to the boy. "Not like it's any of your business, but we aren't friends with Bakugo anymore. He's gone too far this time."
"What are you talking about?" Izuku folded his arms.
"He's a complete douche. He didn't even thank Kiribro for saving him and then told him they weren't friends." Kaminari spoke up, despite being terrified of the small boy's anger.
"How dare you." Izuku spat.
"Excuse me?" Kirishima stood up, towering over Izuku.
Izuku stood his ground, glaring at Kirishima. "You heard me. Kacchan is struggling and the best you can do as his friend is ditch him in his time of need? You of all people should know he doesn't like to accept help. Deep down he really needs support. He may not act like it, but he doesn't know how to accept help. You've seen how his mother is."
"You've got to be kidding me. Just because his mommy told him he was weak for having emotions doesn't give him any right to treat his friends like shit." Kirishima huffed.
Izuku snapped, seeing red. He punched Kirishima, knocking him to the ground.
"What the fuck!" Kirishima rubbed his jaw.
The group flinched, backing away from the two.
"You're a sad excuse for a friend. You don't deserve Kacchan. He was finally starting to let you in and you really let him down. Can't you see he's hurting?!" Izuku chuckled. "Who am I kidding, of course you don't! You only care about yourself! A good friend wouldn't expect anything from someone they gave help to. I'm disappointed in you." With that, Izuku walked away, leaving the group completely stunned.
