Chapter Text
Blood was pounding in his ears as he ran. He needed to be far away from him as physically possible. He did not care that it was dark or that he was running through a forest at night. As long as he was away from him , he would feel safe. He just needed to run and keep running. He could not let him get even a mile worth finding him. Just run, run, run.
He wasn’t sure how long he had run before he stopped because of the intense burning in his lungs. He couldn’t keep going on or else he would pass out and could possibly become food for whatever creature found his unconscious body. He took deep breaths and placed his back against a tree before sliding down. He needed to think of his next move. Where would he go after this? He had no idea where he was at the moment but he couldn’t camp out here. It’s dangerous. He could relax for just a minute before moving on.
This was his second time running away from Adam. He hoped it would be his last. He just wanted to be free of him. If he went back, he didn’t think he would ever be able to leave again.
After catching his breath, he stood. Time to move. He couldn’t stay here or else he’d put himself in more danger. He could barely see, which seemed to cause him to wander aimlessly. Where could he go? Where even was he? This was gonna be tough. Hopefully, he wouldn’t have to go Lord of the Flies or Cast Away out here. He just had to keep walking and be careful.
He walked for what felt like hours before noticing a faint glowing light. Walking closer, the trees fell away as he realized that it was a barn. Maybe this would be a good place to rest. He’d be safe from Adam. At least for the night that is. He doubted that he hadn’t followed him.
Hopefully, he could hide in the hayloft for a while before the owners found him and possibly kicked him out. He found the entrance and found it slightly ajar, before slipping inside. The smell of horses was somewhat overwhelming but he would have to just get used to it for now. Quickly locating the ladder to the hayloft, he hurried toward it and climbed up.
This wouldn’t be a comfortable sleep but it was all he could get for right now. He laid down, uncomfortable with the hay poking at him. Man, if only his life wasn’t so rough.
Sunlight touched his eyelids and caused him to rouse in the morning. Groggily, he opened his eyes before turning over. He, immediately, felt ice in his veins as he saw a person standing over him.
She was tall with blonde hair that flowed down her back. Her eyes were a lilac color, a light with suspicion and curiosity as she stared down at him.
“Mornin’, Sleeping Beauty,” she greeted him. “Who might you be?”
