Mario was gravely injured from the bomb explosion. How he was standing was a miracle from the star spirits above. Luigi was mostly unscathed thanks to Mario blocking the bomb blast. The brothers unfortunately didn't have any healing items left and they used their last Super 1-up. Cackletta's soul screeched a horrid sound that made the brothers cover their ears. She grabbed Mario who was too injured to jump or hammer her hand away. She slammed the injured man into the ground who let out a scream as his bones shattered from the impact. She threw Mario like a ragdoll, Luigi screamed as she did this.
"MARIO!" Luigi yelled out for his brother who wasn't moving and eyes rolled back into his head. Luigi felt a raging storm inside of him as the tears fell from his eyes. He ran towards Mario but was stopped by Cackletta's soul. Luigi didn't care for the evil witch, he needed to make sure his brother was alive. He sent a massive thunder shock at the crazed witch. It temporarily stunned her just enough for Luigi to run up to his brother and place an ear against his brother's chest. Mario's breathing was very very shallow, Luigi couldn't stop the tears from flowing as he was about to lose his only family. It seemed Mario knew it as well as he hummed a familiar tune he hadn't sung when their father died. Luigi also knew Mario's time was up so he also hummed the tune as well albeit with some shakiness in his humming. When Luigi finished his humming he couldn't hear Mario breathing or heart beat. The tears never stopped flowing as he buried his head deeper into Mario's chest which he hadn't done for years. After a few minutes Luigi finally got up and pulled out his hammer and faced Cackletta's soul.
"I will make you pay for what you did to my brother!" Luigi yelled at the monster. Cackletta's soul let out a laugh and taunted the younger brother.
"Your brother was a waste of space anyways, so good riddance." She said while cackling. Luigi felt the thunder surge through his body as he attacked the beast. He swung his hammer striking the beast in the chest and sent as much thunder as he could through his hammer and into her. Cackletta yelled out in pain as she was electrocuted. She eventually faded into nothing. Luigi's breathing was heavy as he dropped the hammer and ran towards Mario’s corpse and lifted him up into his arms and held his brother close to his chest as tears fell from his eyes once again. Luigi felt his chest warm up as a golden light surrounded him and Mario. Luigi blinked the bright light away and was in front of the Princess. She had her hands covering her mouth as tears also fell from her eyes. The Princess pulled Luigi into a hug as the tears continued to fall.
