I will admit this is my first time writing an omegaverse fanfiction/story and I find it so fun to write. It's something new and it's a challenge at time. I like that.

Chapter 1: Finding My Mate

Chapter Text

Wednesdays Pov.

After all of those years my parents finally succeeded at placing me in the Nevermore Academy. An educational institution that teaches special students. Or to word it blankly supernaturals.

“I am sure you will love Nevermore. It’s a truly unique place.” My mother smiles at me. Which I dislike.

“It truly is Tish. It’s the place we met and officially became mates.” My father smiles at mother and by the look in their eyes I was sure they will begin publicly displaying affection.

“Please cease that. You are making me nauseous and not in a good way.” I warn them.

My father gestures with his hands that they will stop. I nod my head at him hoping that it shall be the case.

“Maybe you will even find your mate at Nevermore.” Mother winks at me.

Mate. I feel like vomiting at the sheer sound of that word.

Being an alpha like my mother means that I will be the dominant one in my mating relationship. But the sheer fact that only finding my mate will change me in ways I don’t want to. Is unacceptable.

I don’t want to feel the need to care for someone. I don’t want to feel the need to protect them or to make them happy. None of those traits truly represent me.

Maybe just the protectiveness but alpha naturally protects the pack. Hence I will crush anyone who messes with my brother or my parents. While being protective of a stranger whom I will have to supposedly spend my life with. That’s not what I wish for.

While my instinct and my mind will convince me that it is indeed something I want and need to do towards them. And I absolutely hate it.

“I have prayed to all the known gods to spare me this torture and allow me to ramin mateless.” I respond in my monotone way.

My parents were shocked.

“Don’t say that my little death trap.” My father spoke.

“Your father is right. Don't say such things. I am sure that you don’t truly mean it. I was told that girls your age say such hurtful things.” Mother sounded upset.

I decided to spare my mother more torture for today and simply stopped speaking for the rest of the journey to the new educational/penitentiary facility I shall be locked up at.

At The Academy

Overall the school is to my liking architecture and design wise. It’s dark and gives me the feeling that it’s full of mysteries ready to be solved.

The Principal Miss. Weems is another strong Alpha. And I’m impressed that she was able to complete her studies with her mind still intact. Given that she was sharing a room with my mother.

As my mother is not only annoying but like most alphas has a strong character of her own.

As for my roommate. Dear god what I have done to be sentenced to such torture. She is a beta werewolf who looks like unicorn vomit.

As for her mate he is even worse. A stoner gorgon omega. Jesus if you exist do not let them procreate.

I am a torture specialist and find it enjoyable. But I do not consider myself to be cruel enough to wish to sentence a young supernatural being to be raised by them two. That would be the worse form of torture.
And sadly I will have to survive coexisting with her. Without trying to kill her. Which could be hard.

She gave me a tour of the school and told me all about the main groups that coexist here. Which were werewolves known and furs. vampires known as fangs. Sirens known as scales and gorgons known as stoners. I am sure you can guess why.

She also gave me the story of how the queen bee used to date the tortured artist but how they broke up. As if I am even remotely interested in any of it.

But when we walked beside the said artist Xavier Thorpe I could smell graphite very strongly. I have no idea why. And when we walked off I could feel his eyes on my back.

Some Time Later.

My mother just warned me to cease planning to escape the academy. Adding that she had warned the entire family to inform her right away. If I shall darken their doorstep.

She also informed me that her and father are forbidden from contacting me during my first week of stay at this institution.

Why could they not be forbidden from contacting me at all. If I shall stay here longer then I intend to. I might introduce such an idea and start a petition for those students who feel the same about it.

“I am sure you’ll grow to love Nevermore. And find it as life changing as I did.” My mother smiled at me.

“I also got you a little something.” She retrieved a small pendant on a chain and presented it to me.

Explaining that it contains our initials and that it was made of obsidian used by Aztec priests to conjure visions. Adding that it’s a symbol of our connection.

As if we have one. The two of us cannot be more different from each other.

“Which one of your spirits suggested this?” I ask and my mothers smile disappears.

“I’m not you mother. I will never fall in love. If the gods will listen to my prayers I’ll never even find a mate. Nor shall I be a housewife or have a family.” I announced.

She looks at me with pity and I hate it.

“As I mentioned, girls your age say such things. I am sure that you don’t really mean it and I know that some time spent in Nevermore will change your views. It did change mine, believe me child.”

“But it never changed your heart. You still don’t have one.” I said and she smiled.

“Finally a kind word for your mother.” I was able to see in her eyes that she would love nothing more but to hug me.

But I would never ever allow it. I absolutely hate physical affection. It’s worse than torture.

Thankfully she left a minute or so later and I was at least freed from having to watch my parents' public display of affection until the Winter break.

The Next Day. Xavier’s Pov

I saved Wednesday from a gargoyle that was falling right at her. She fainted from the impact of the fall hence I carried her to the nurses office.

After examining her the nurse said that thankfully Wednesday does not have a concussion. But certainly has a nasty bump at the back of her head.

And she might be a bit dizzy or nauseous for a day or two.

I have to admit it was really good news.

Now here I am sitting on a chair watching Wednesday sleep.

The position she is sleeping in is very interesting I have to say. Arms crossed palms touching the shoulders. The dead were placed in such a way in the coffins some time ago.

But despite that I still found it cute. I smiled at myself and took a deeper breath.

To once again smell the lovely sweet scent coming off of her.

I first encountered it when her and Enid walked past me. When Enid was showing Wednesday around the academy. And since then It’s as if I am craving this smell.

I noticed Wednesday stir on the bed and stood up to look at her.

A minute or so later her eyes opened and I smiled at her.

“Welcome back.” I said and she sat up while I sat back down asking her to take it easy.

She stated at me.

I told her what the nurse told me and she seemed to be ignoring me to a degree looking at the ground as she spoke.

“The last thing I remember. I was walking outside feeling a mixture of rage, pity and self disgust.” She finally looked at me.

“I never felt that way before.”

Now I was the one who looked down.

“Yeah, losing to Bianca has that effect on people.” I know what I’m saying. I saw it happen a lot of times.

“And then I looked up and I saw that gargoyle coming down at me. And I taught. Well at least I’ll have an imaginative death.” She looked into nothingness for a few seconds before looking at me again.

“Then you tackled me out of the way. Why?” When our eyes met in that second I could see a shine in hers and that sweet scent of hers hit me again.

I could also see her flinch. At that moment I was certain that we were mates.

It explains my attraction to her scent and the shine in her eyes. Now I would love nothing more than to see how she shall react to my touch.

But I know better than to try that. As she is not a person of affection or a person to mess with.

“I think that you should know by now that it's instinct.” She knows as well as I do that she’s my mate.

All the signs prove it.

“As if that gives you any rights to just enter my life and make decisions regarding it? Who told you I wanted to be saved?” She asked, annoyed.

“Oh sorry was I supposed to let that thing smash my mate?” I became annoyed.

“Don’t you dare use that word. Just because our instances may be telling us so. I will never consider you my mate.” She growled at me.

I only gigelled.

“It’s nice to see that you have not changed and that you are still as stubborn as ever.” My words confused her.

“What are you saying?” She asked.

“Let’s just say that I have returned a favor.” I began and she began wondering what I am leading onto.

“Xavier Thorpe the last time we met I was about 2 feet shorter and 40 pounds heavier. It was my godmother's funeral. She was your grandmother's best friend and they spent their twenties together in Europe. Swindeling the rich and notorious. We were maybe 10 and were bored. We began playing hide and seek. And I had the inspiring idea to hide in her casket. Only to get stuck there as it was heading to the crematorium.”

“I remember that. I heard muffled screams and thought that your godmother had somehow cheated death and was trying to claw her way out.” She looked somewhat amused while I smiled.

“Either way, you pressed the big red stop button and saved me from being burned to death. So you can say that we are even” I smile again.

She simply looked at me.

“Such an answer I can accept but don’t you try to go announce me as your mate. I will never accept you. I am an especially stubborn alpha,” She warned me.

I simply stood up, only to take a step closer to the bed and lean down towards her so that I could look right into her eyes.

“That makes the two of us.” I announced frimley.

“Two alphas that will never work.” She announced and I smirked.

“Oh it will. We were destined to be the minute we were born. So whether you like it or not. We.” I motion at the both of us.

“Pretty much belong to each other.” I finished and she graced me with a kubrick stare.

“Keep thinking like that. And all of your very slight chances that you have at being my mate will disappear.” She warned.

I smirked and giggled.

“We shall see about that. As you may say one thing but our instinct and bodies will say something entirely different.”

That’s when I moved away from her, grabbed my coat and left the infirmary.

Now she was the one looking behind me.
