Work Text:
So apparently Reki had been hit with a car . And he had supposedly been beaten up before that. And he hadn’t TOLD anyone.
Miya was beginning to think Reki wasn’t as smart as he’d thought.
This all came up when that Snake character came back to S with Adam a couple months after he’d made his debut, dressed up in a suit and tie and looking all professional and shit.
Reki had mumbled something about recognizing him at the beginning of the night, and in the middle of one of Shadow’s beefs, and said (all too loudly); “Oooh, it’s the guy from the love hotel!”
Everybody went silent.
“...I said that out loud.”
“Yeah. You did.” Miya stared at Reki blankly.
“Reki, you’re too young to be hanging around those places.” Cherry crossed his arms. “What were you doing there anyways?”
“I didn’t go because I wanted to! He took me there after he hit me with his car.” Like that made it any better.
“What.”
“Shit.”
“When the hell did you get hit with a car?!” Langa exclaimed, pinching Reki’s face and checking for injuries.
“...A couple months ago…” Reki mumbled, his cheeks going pink.
“ Months?! ” Miya squeaked. He gave Reki a hard shove to the gut. “You stupid slime! Why didn’t you say anything sooner?!”
“It wasn’t a big deal!” Reki said, trying to pry Langa’s hands from his face.
Joe put his hands on his hips. “You got hit with a car and kidnapped. How is that ‘not a big deal’?”
“He lightly tapped me with his car. It didn’t even hurt that bad.” Reki was still trying to get Langa’s hands off of his face. “And I wouldn’t call it kidnapping.”
Cherry raised his eyebrows in disbelief. “He took a minor to a love hotel against his will after hitting him with a car and it wasn’t kidnapping.” Reki glanced away to avoid Cherry’s cold glare. “Reki, do you realize how stupid you sound?”
“I got knocked out, so it wasn’t like he knew I’m a minor.”
“That’s even worse!” Joe sounded as exasperated as Cherry looked.
“You don’t exactly look over 18.” Cherry’s glare was impossibly icy.
“And if it was such a ‘ light tap’ , “ Miya curled his fingers around the acid words. “How the fuck did it knock you out?”
“You’re like, ten, you shouldn’t be cursing like that.” Reki rolled his eyes.
“Shut up and answer the question!” Miya stamped his foot.
“Which one do you want me to do?”
“ Reki. ” Langa frowned. Reki glanced away, any humor he’d found in his stupid, unfunny joke dissipating. “Answer Miya’s question.” His hands were still firm on Reki’s face.
Reki’s eyes were guilty. He mumbled something so quietly that nobody could hear him. Not even Langa, who was approximately 5 inches away from Reki’s face.
“ Reki.” Langa got stern again.
“ Ikindofgotbeatupbeforethat.”
A shiver shot up Miya’s spine. “You got beat up ?!” He screeched. “Reki, what the fuck !”
Joe looked at Miya, his eyebrows raised. “How'd you understand that?” He asked.
Cherry smacked Joe’s chest with the back of his hand. “That’s not what we’re worrying about, gorilla.”
“Right.”
“Who beat you up?” Langa asked, his eyes darkening.
“I dunno, some old acquaintances or whatever. Got upset because I didn't wanna join back up…” Reki finally pried Langa’s hands from his face.
Miya latched onto Reki’s torso. “You are the worst. ” He mumbled into the soft red material. Reki hugged him back, rubbing Miya’s back. Cherry sighed. He walked over and put his hand on Reki’s shoulder.
“Are you alright, Reki?” He asked, his eyes full of sympathy.
Reki nodded.
“You’re sure?”
Reki nodded again. Softly, he replied, “Yeah. I’m sure.”
“Good.” Cherry lightly ruffled Reki’s tousled hair. “Now, Joe and I are confiscating your board for five days for not telling us sooner.”
Reki squawked. “What?! Come on, that is so not fair!” Miya snorted when Reki pushed him off to try and grab his board.
Joe snatched Reki’s board from its spot on the ground before Reki could get to it. “Is too.” He grinned while he held it high in the air while Reki tried to grab it back from him.
“Who’s gonna hold onto it?!” Reki jumped up, grabbing at his board.
“Can’t tell you.” Cherry shrugged. “That way, you can’t guilt whoever has it into giving it back.” Reki pouted and Cherry sighed. “It’s only five days, Reki.”
“How am I supposed to get to school?” He whined.
“We can walk. I don’t mind.” Langa put his hand on Reki’s lower back with a sweet yet mischievous smile.
“ Langa, you’re supposed to be on my side!”
Shadow walked over. From the way he was grinning like a buffoon, he’d won the beef. “What’s going on?” He asked.
Miya shrugged. “Nothing.”
