Chapter Text
“Hyung, look at that,” Changbin said, leaning against the cart while he pointed towards an item on an end cap shelf. It seemed to be a customized candle topper, and it depicted the scene of an artist’s studio with tiny little paint brushes, paint palettes, and canvases scattered about.
“Oh my god, Hyunjin would love that! How much is it?” Chan exclaimed, stepping forward towards the item and picking it up, immediately intrigued. Changbin smiled almost too quickly at Chan’s endearing reaction. “Dude, it’s another orange tag. 50% off so it’s only a dollar… you’re fuckin’ amazing.”
Chan was visibly awestruck at Changbin’s ability to point out every obscure and downright fascinating thing that any of their friends would enjoy in the thrift store that also happened to be the tag color of the day.
“You know, it’s just a hidden charm of mine,” Changbin fiended being nonchalant, his sudden ‘uninterested' demeanor making Chan giggle out loud.
“Seriously, Bin, this is so cool. I could kiss you for spotting this,” and he said it without even really thinking, although there had been countless hours spent thinking about only Changbin for the past two or three weeks. Changbin didn’t need to know that, though.
“…Oh, yeah?” Changbin's teasing was so obvious that Chan could've reached out into the air between them and touched it, like it had developed a physical form. A smirk was planted firmly on Changbin's plump lips, his dark eyes looking up at Chan through dark hair.
“I-I mean yeah, I could give you a lot more than a kiss for this kind of find if I’m being honest,” Chan knew he was being way too daring, he couldn’t even bring himself to look in Changbin’s general direction when he said it, but it was always too exhilarating to stop when it came to messing around with Changbin like this. He was too head over heels, and the younger was bound to figure it out one of these days if he wasn’t careful.
“In that case… I might take you up on that offer once we get outta here…” Changbin answered him, and although his smirk was fading, it was replaced with a crimson blush that started at his cheeks and ran all the way down his neck and onto the sliver of his chest that Chan could see through the lazily zipped up leather jacket he was wearing.
His response sent Chan's brain reeling and suddenly he felt dizzy, reaching out a hand to hold onto the cart for balance. It seemed that Changbin was fully aware of the effect his statement had on Chan because he was chuckling quietly to himself before taking the candle topper out of Chan’s hands and setting it in the cart before directing them towards the checkout.
Did he seriously mean that? Chan thought.
Well, it wasn’t everyday you admitted to wanting to essentially fuck your good friend through a joke and he played along with it. Then again, they joked around like this ever since they had met just two months ago. It was always more subtle though, nothing this straightforward.
As they were checking out, Chan was putting everything on the belt for the clerk while Changbin stood at his post at the end of the cart, his wrists draped over the handlebar loosely, his right boot hooked up on top of the shelf underneath the cart. Chan could feel his eyes on his backside the entire time he was unloading the cart, and it took everything in him to fight off the blush forcing its way onto his face so he could talk to the clerk properly and pay for their stuff.
“And there’s your receipt. You guys have a good night,” the clerk said, and Chan wished them the same before picking up their two bags and their helmets and helping Changbin direct the now empty cart back to the cart return.
Once that was done, they headed outside towards Changbin's motorcycle. He got his keys out and unlocked the hatch in the back so Chan could put their precious thrift store finds inside, then closed it up and hopped on while putting on his helmet. Chan mentally prepared himself to be up close and personal with the younger man for the millionth time while securing his helmet on his head (the one that Changbin had bought him as soon as they started riding together), and got on behind him, adjusting himself so he could sit comfortably before leaning forward and wrapping his arms around Changbin’s middle.
The bike was turned on, the engine roaring to life, and before they set off Changbin glanced back and shouted, “All set, baby?”
Chan almost whined out loud and was glad the engine was loud enough to cover it up before yelling back an overly enthusiastic, “Yup!” before they were off on their way.
Riding through town at night on Changbin’s motorcycle was much different than walking through it like Chan did to get to the convenience store he worked at every other day. Driving past all the retro homes, store fronts, and gas stations with the wind howling in your ears was such a drastic experience. The autumn leaves were falling down all around them and whipping up into the air as Changbin and Chan whizzed past big piles of them. They passed the funeral home on the corner, then the courthouse and the post office, then there was Jisung and Minho's apartment building. Seeing it reminded Chan that he still needed to take Changbin there to introduce them to each other. Jisung was bound to love him even if Soonie, Doongie, Dori, and Minho didn’t.
Soon enough, they were taking a right and coming up on the duplex Chan rented out with a couple of his college buddies, Hyunjin and Felix. The motorcycle came to a stop and Changbin turned off the engine and killed the lights, leaving them in a much quieter and darker environment. Helmets were removed, and Chan took that as his cue to hop off, which then allowed Changbin to slide off and grab their belongings out of the compartment in the back.
Once their cargo was in tow, Chan shoved his free hand in his hoodie pocket then started the trek up the driveway to the entrance of their duplex, Changbin not far behind. Thankfully they were on the first floor, so no crazy stairs had to be taken to reach their destination. When they stepped inside, Chan could smell Felix's cooking from the kitchen and could hear the TV on in their living room.
“Honeys, I'm home!” Chan called, all lovey dovey while toeing off his shoes and setting his helmet beside them as he heard a shout from Hyunjin. He took the bags from Changbin so he could remove his boots and set his own helmet down, then suddenly the long haired boy whipped around the corner and threw himself into Chan's arms.
“Ah, my sweet Channie! You had me worried sick! Out late with this bad boy and all, jeez…” Hyunjin fake-doted on him, and he was feeling embarrassed for the umpteenth time that night.
Changbin immediately barked out a laugh, then looked up from his now sock-clad feet. Hyunjin was petting Chan's orange hair all dramatic-like, his playful eyes staring makeshift daggers at Changbin while the cutest pout occupied his red lips.
Changbin had to admit, Hyunjin was a sight to see. Tall, slim but lean, and devilishly handsome. He knew his place, knew he could get whatever and whoever he wanted, yet most of the time he was so cheerful and down to earth. It was a nice contrast, what he looked like versus who he actually was. Changbin decided he liked him the minute Chan first introduced the two.
“Ah, Mr. Hwang, I promised I'd have him back by 7:00 pm. I swear, I tried my best…” Changbin entertained his joke, which left Hyunjin a giggly mess, his arms falling from where they were protectively wrapped around Chan and throwing them around Changbin instead.
“You’re so fun, Changbin-hyung! Come in, come in," Hyunjin ushered him, completely forgetting about Chan at this point and leading Changbin into the kitchen.
That was okay, Chan could give him his new trinket later. For the time being, the eldest of the guys smiled warmly to himself, the entire interaction making his heart fuzzy. If Hyunjin liked Changbin, he knew that was a very good sign, so he was glad they had hit it off so well.
After setting down their shopping bags in the living room, Chan rounded the corner to the left and the kitchen was now in view. Felix was at the stove, his sleeves rolled up and a spoon in hand, carefully taste testing whatever it was he had brewing in the pot in front of him. Hyunjin had brought Changbin to the island directly behind Felix, the two taking a seat and immediately being immersed into conversation. Chan made his way into the room, going directly for the fridge to get himself something to drink. Once the refrigerator door was closed and his Dr. Pepper was in hand, Felix turned towards him, a bright smile on his face.
“Welcome home, bro. I've got tomato soup here, it’s just about done! And cheese toasties are already made and on the counter." Chan made a lot of mistakes in his life, but choosing to room with Felix was not one of them. His cooking was delicious, and he did it out of the goodness of his heart, all because he loved to cook, bake, and make things for his friends. He was a true angel, and Chan tried his best to show his appreciation for him everyday.
“Thank you, Lix. What would we do without our little chef, hm?” Chan mused as he crossed the short distance between the two, temporarily snuggling up to Felix and wrapping his arms around the younger. Felix loved physical affection, so his smile only brightened as he paused his stirring of the soup to pat one of Chan's arms in reciprocation.
“Love you,” Chan said as he gave the younger one last squeeze before setting off towards the other boys.
“Love you too, hyung,” Felix chirped, his attention now caught up with turning the stove off and getting bowls out to serve his friends.
Chan could immediately feel Changbin’s eyes boring into him as he made himself comfortable at the island, only now noticing the plate of cheese toasties stacked high in the middle of the counter. He glanced up briefly to meet Changbin’s gaze and was surprised to see the younger break it almost immediately, focusing back on Hyunjin who was still telling a story, probably about dance or art school.
“Okay everyone, soup is served!” Felix said as he began setting one bowl in front of each boy, along with a spoon.
“Thank youuuu!” Hyunjin sang, looking over his meal before deciding he needed something to drink, too.
“Thank you for the food, Felix,” Changbin said as a bowl was set down in front of him.
“You’re very welcome,” replied the younger, his sunshine-like expression never once dimming.
“Changbin-hyung, what would you like to drink? We have water, apple juice, Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew…" Hyunjin asked as he dug around in the fridge. Changbin looked up from the spoonful of soup he was blowing on before asking for water, to which Hyunjin happily obliged and got for him.
Once Felix had his own food and was settled down next to Chan at the island, everyone began to dig in. It was the perfect meal for such a chilly autumn night, and Chan wouldn’t have wanted to eat it with any other people he knew.
“So yummy, Felix, thank you,” Chan said between bites, and he would take the playful scoldings from Felix to chew with his mouth closed if it meant he got to see one of his juniors smiling so happily at his antics.
His mind had almost completely turned off at the thought of Changbin until he was about to declare himself full, and decided to finally look up from his bowl. Changbin's elbows were propped up on the table, his hands folded in front of his face and he was staring at him again, but when they met eyes this time, he didn’t look away. In fact, he raised an eyebrow, and it made Chan so flustered he let out a couple of pitiful coughs before thanking Felix for the meal once again and getting up to start on the dishes. Once he was at the sink he heard another chair scooting out from the island, and suddenly Changbin was at his side.
“I'll help clean up since I'm the guest,” he explained, and Chan only hummed in response as they both got to work.
Chan could only imagine the playful looks Hyunjin and Felix were exchanging behind his back. They knew how much he liked Changbin from all the confessions he would make to the both of them when he would get home from work late at night. He was very much an obsessive fanboy, telling them each and every detail about Changbin and then explaining in even higher detail why he loved that specific thing about him so much. He was really, really down bad, so it would only make sense that his juniors would be acting mischievous while Chan had the said boy over at their house.
“Hey guys, I appreciate you both cleaning up for me. Hyunjin and I are gonna go watch some TV in the living room, you can join us when you’re done, ‘kay?” Felix magically appeared on Chan's left side since Changbin was already at his right. Chan nodded in response and sent Felix on his way, leaving the two older boys to themselves at the sink.
Washing and drying the dishes was a lengthy process, but it went quicker with the two of them working together. Chan washed the dish, handed it over to Changbin, then Changbin would dry and put said dish in the rack. In no time they were finished, and they had only gotten too close for comfort a handful of times. In Chan's book, that was a win since he still had his wits about him.
For a moment, they stood in silence as Changbin gripped on to the sink, the sleeves to his leather jacket being rolled up as much as they could possibly be which in turn put his heavenly sculpted hands on display. Chan was brought out of his daze of staring at them with Changbin awkwardly clearing his throat.
“So, are you and Felix… y’know…” He sounded almost… sad. But Chan couldn’t help but laugh at the absurd theory forming in Changbin's head that he finally had the courage to ask about.
“Oh, absolutely not. We've been friends since we were in grade school. That being said, we’ve had our fair share of… experimentation and shit like that, but at the end of the day he’s just my mini-me. I love him like a brother.” Chan explained, a few chuckles still escaping him as he described his relationship with the younger.
And it was amazing, truly, as he watched Changbin let out a sigh of relief, his shoulders visibly relaxing.
“Good,” was all Changbin said before wiping his hands on the towel he was using to dry the dishes with, leaving Chan to freak out at the sink alone.
What the fuck?! Chan screamed in his head.
After taking a few minutes to think about what that reaction from Changbin truly meant, Chan decided he had spent enough time going insane in the kitchen and finally joined his friends in the living room. Paranorman was on the TV, Hyunjin and Felix being sat on the couch directly across from it. The two of them were already heavily invested in the claymation film. Changbin was sitting on the smaller sofa diagonal from the screen, looking more soft now with his leather jacket discarded beside him on the arm of the sofa. The white v-neck t-shirt he had on underneath was a plain but extremely attractive touch to his outfit. As for him, he still seemed a little confused from coming in late to the film, but was paying full attention nonetheless.
Chan made his way over to the latter mentioned and braved making himself comfortable. It was funny that the two lankier boys would leave the smaller couch to the two beefier ones, but Chan wasn’t one to complain if it meant having Changbin’s thick thighs directly smashed up against his own. And if that wasn’t enough, Changbin immediately threw an arm around the back of the couch so that Chan could slowly but surely sink down into his side. It was all so much. Chan didn’t even want to try to focus on the movie anymore, but he had to play it cool.
“I wish I could talk to dead people,” Hyunjin thought out loud, “I bet there would be a lot of interesting ones around here.” Felix barely nodded in agreement beside him, his eyes zeroed in on the screen.
“I agree, Hyunjin. It’d give me something to do rather than go to thrift stores and the one singular Marathon down the street with this loser all the time,” Changbin fake-complained, rolling his eyes playfully as Chan glanced up at him then with mock-offense written all over his face.
“Yah, I’ll have to throw you out if you call hyung a loser one more time, you hear me?!“ Hyunjin continued the joke, and it was enough to pull Felix away from the movie to give Changbin a playful dirty look.
“Hey, you know I'm playing. Chan-hyung is anything but a loser,” Everyone was giggling or paying attention to the movie again after that, but Chan began to bite his bottom lip anxiously, his nerves kicking in but also wanting to suppress the urge to smile as big as he wanted to right then and there.
He dared to glance over at Changbin’s clean face, which was dangerously close to his at the moment, and found the younger with a fond smile on his lips, but his eyes trained on the TV screen just like the others. Chan quickly looked away and decided he could figure out a way to deal with this newfound closeness without losing his head, and started paying attention to the film as well.
As the movie droned on, Changbin kept an eye on the time. It was getting late and he had work bright and early in the morning, but it was almost impossible to leave Chan's side. Changbin could just barely catch a glimpse of Chan's eyelids drifting shut every few seconds, his head slowly drooping until he was practically laying on Changbin's chest. Then Changbin felt his breathing even out and he knew the older man was finally fast asleep. Changbin glanced over at the other couch, seeing that Felix, too, had dozed off, using Hyunjin's shoulder as his pillow. For a moment, Changbin and Hyunjin locked eyes, and the latter suppressed his giggle under his hand clamped to his mouth.
“Changbin-hyung, you should probably take Channie-hyung to bed. I don't think he’s gotten much sleep lately,” Hyunjin said quietly, his eyes drifting over to the oldest of his sleeping roommates.
Changbin froze for a moment, realizing what taking Chan to bed meant. He had never really gotten past the bathroom when it came to him visiting Chan at his house. There had never been any reason to go any further since they were always on the run, but now he was finally going to see what Chan's personal living space looked like. For some reason, he was nervous.
“Ah, sorry Hyunjin-ah, but Chan’s never taken me to his room before,” Changbin admitted, feeling almost bashful as Hyunjin’s eyes widened in surprise.
Suddenly, Chan was stirring in his sleep. Changbin immediately fixed his eyes on him, his arm that was lying on the back of the couch now wrapped securely around Chan's back to keep him close. The orange haired man lifted his head, his eyes barely open and took in a sharp breath. He then turned to see Changbin still beside him, their faces merely centimeters apart, then mumbled, “Bedtime?”
Changbin swore he felt tears suddenly stinging his eyes from how cute their friend was.
The dark haired man took one more glance at Hyunjin, the boy giving him a sly, knowing smile before he turned back toward Chan and nodded, “Mhm, bedtime. Want to show me where your room is?”
Chan took a moment to rub his eyes before standing up on wobbly feet and grabbing ahold of Changbin’s hand, yanking him up off the couch with incredible strength. Hyunjin took the opportunity to giggle just a bit before shutting up once Felix began to stir. As Chan pulled Changbin along, they stopped at the other two boys so he could say goodnight to them both, petting Hyunjin's hair and leaving a kiss on Felix’s forehead.
After spending so much time around Chan and his roommates, Changbin came to realize that he was extremely affectionate with the people he loved. It only made him a little nervous because Chan wasn’t as nearly as touchy with him, but he knew they hadn’t really established a term for their relationship yet. Yes, they were friends, but Changbin swore that they both knew there was something more there. Even if he hadn’t voiced it out loud yet, he hoped the older boy knew how he felt about him deep down. Changbin shook away his thoughts and opted for a simple goodnight to Hyunjin, then Chan was dragging him off towards the dark hallway past the kitchen.
Changbin honestly couldn't see a thing, and bumped directly into Chan's back once he assumed they reached his room. The door was opened and Chan's hand slipped out of his. He stood lost in the door frame before the dark room was partially illuminated by a soft night light in the corner. That allowed Changbin to see Chan's closet door, his desk directly adjacent to that with all his laptop and recording equipment on it, a window above it, and in the farthest corner was his huge bed with all black bedding and pillows. It was quite minimalistic but very much suited Chan.
As Changbin was admiring the space, Chan was already stripping himself of nearly every piece of clothing he had on. His ripped skinny jeans were thrown across the floor as well as his hoodie, and he was halfway done taking his shirt off before he whipped his head up to look at Changbin and abruptly reversed the action. His sleepy haze must’ve made him forget that a very special guest was finally seeing him in his natural habitat.
“Sorry, I-I usually don’t sleep with anything on,” Chan stumbled over his words.
“It's fine, I'm just tucking you in anyway, right? You can get comfortable once I leave," Chan was about to get under the covers before turning his head, his eyebrows very much furrowed in confusion as he looked at the younger man.
“You’re not staying?”
Changbin honestly had no words. They had never stayed the night with each other before. He was only used to daily escapades with his energetic hyung. He hadn’t expected to be invited to stay the night for at least another month, much less be asked to sleep with Chan in his bed.
“I m-mean… I can stay if you want. But I have to work at eight in the morning, so…” Changbin said, not being able to keep steady eye contact with the older boy while he was looking at him like that.
“I don’t have work ‘till noon, but I'll wake up with you. So you might as well stay, it’s already almost midnight anyway," Chan said, finally crawling into bed and making himself comfortable. Once he was satisfied, he popped his head out from under the comforter and lifted the corner off of him, beckoning Changbin to join him.
This guy is going to ruin me, Changbin thought defeatedly.
The younger of the two could only sigh in playful defeat before throwing his leather jacket that he had grabbed from the sofa off into the void of Chan’s room. It was mostly dark in the room, but the nightlight did its job perfectly fine because Chan could finally zero in on Changbin’s thick biceps almost on full display. He could feel himself beginning to drool but pulled his sleepy self together the best he could. Next was his black jeans, and it was difficult to watch the younger unbuckle his belt and undo his pants without feeling anything. Again, the nightlight was doing wonders for Chan's eyes as he finally got to take in every square inch of Changbin’s bare thighs. It was too good. It was too much. He really just needed to go to sleep.
“Hurry up,” Chan huffed, turning around so that his back was now facing Changbin and shoved his face into one of his pillows.
Soon enough, he felt the bed dip against Changbin's weight and the warmth of his body was right next to him. They both were stiff at first, but Chan wasn’t going to be able to sleep like that. He rolled onto his back and snuck a glance up at Changbin's face. He jumped, not expecting the other man to already be staring at him. Chan groaned, frustrated, and decided that shoving his face into Changbin’s chest was ultimately better than shoving it into his plain, old pillow.
“Yah, careful now, that shit hurts,” Changbin whined, but his arm was still snaking its way around Chan's back all the while. It was intoxicating having Changbin so close and in his bed like that. His scent was surrounding Chan like a cloud of smoke, and he wanted nothing more than to have his face buried in his chest forever.
“Shhh... bedtime,” Chan whispered, daring to move his arm to lay over Changbin’s stomach. He physically felt and heard the younger take in a sharp breath and almost giggled out loud at his reaction, but did his best to hold it in.
“Right… bedtime. I need to set my alarm,” Changbin reached for his phone that he laid on the bedside table and messed around with it for a second before turning it off and laying it back down, his attention now back on Chan. (Just the way Chan liked it.)
After letting out a big yawn, Chan mumbled, “Goodnight, Bin,” to the younger. Thankfully, he heard Changbin say, “Goodnight, hyung,” before he finally drifted off.
~
When Changbin woke up, his obnoxious alarm was blaring off to his right, and a weight was lying on top of his entire left side. He laid with his eyes closed for a second before he felt the weight start to shift, and decided it was time to turn that stupid alarm off. His eyesight was blurry as he reached for his phone, the screen brightening up as he tapped it and hit the snooze button. He fell back onto the mattress with a groan, and his eyes immediately fell to the half-awake Chan beside him. If Changbin wasn’t awake before, he was then.
Of course, he thought Chan was beautiful in every sense of the word, but seeing Chan like that in the early morning with his nose scrunched up and his eyes screwed shut as he mindlessly rubbed at them was something else. Changbin was so close he could see damn near every pore on his face, and it was nerve racking. Chan's head was resting on his shoulder, his arm thrown over his middle and one of his legs now intertwined with Changbin’s. Changbin's arm was wrapped around his back protectively. After a moment of laying in silence, and realizing he only had so much time to get ready and leave, he begrudgingly decided it was time to get up.
“Hyung,” he started softly. Chan had no reaction.
“Hyung, I have to leave for work,” Now that got something out of him. A high pitched whine, to be more precise.
Changbin almost fainted at the sound of it, mixed with the combination of Chan moving to bury his face in his neck, his nose and lips grazing the skin, sending Changbin over the edge even more.
“H-Hyung, c’mon, you said you’d wake up with me,” His voice was already uneven because he had just woken up, but now it was shaking because of the mere proximity of their bodies, especially with Chan's lips on his throat.
“No. Can’t leave me,” Chan said in a much deeper voice than that whine suggested, and it was right in Changbin's ear. If this continued any longer, he was never going to make it out of Chan’s bed alive.
“Chan,” he said then, a little more stern, and he felt the older boy startle. He tried to play it off quickly, whining again and beginning to unglue himself from Changbin’s side. All Changbin could do was chuckle to himself lightly in response as he finally sat up, trying to rub the sleep from his eyes.
He stood up and began to gather his clothes discarded from the night before, taking a glance back at the bed. Chan was now laying on his stomach in the warmth that Changbin had left, his shirt riding up his back and his eyes staring up at him through hooded lids. Suddenly, the bedroom door that he was supposed to leave through seemed so far away.
“T-Thank you for letting me stay last night,” Changbin began shakily while pulling his pants up his legs. He could feel Chan's eyes watching him intently as he moved the fabric past his thighs and buckled his belt.
“Mhm, no problem,” Chan hummed, his voice still much too deep for Changbin to get used to yet.
Changbin then began searching for his jacket, and that’s when Chan left his spot at the bed. He got to his closet and opened it, pulling out a random black hoodie and yanking it over his head. Once it was on, you could barely see the fact that he was still wearing boxers. Changbin really needed to leave then.
“Walk me to my bike?” he cleared his throat suddenly, and Chan looked up at him, his expression still showing he was tired but he smiled softly (knowingly) anyway.
“Sure,”
The two then made their way out to the kitchen, Chan in the lead. Changbin wasn’t expecting anyone else to be up at seven in the morning, but there Felix was at the coffee pot, his blond hair going in all different directions while he occupied himself with his phone. He looked up once they entered the room and smiled brightly.
“Good morning,” he chirped, but Changbin wasn’t sure he could even call it that since his voice was as deep as the Earth's core when he said it.
“Morning, Lix. Bin has to go to work," Chan said as he made his way over to the boy, reaching above him and grabbing a mug out of one of the cabinets.
“Ahhh, well have a good day, hyung! Will we see you later on?” Felix asked, his eyes on Changbin then.
The dark haired man honestly didn’t know, but once he stopped to think about it, he realized that he was basically at their place almost as much as he was at his own these days. Changbin briefly made eye contact with Chan before the older boy was innocently looking away, distracting himself from the question by dumping an unholy amount of creamer and sugar in his coffee.
Changbin sighed, “Yes, I’ll be over sometime tonight probably,”
He snuck a glance at Chan and took note of the big smile forming on his lips as he tried to take a sip of his coffee.
“I'm done with work at 8:30 pm,” Chan finally chimed in, locking eyes with Changbin again.
“Okay, then I'll pick you up and we’ll be home around nine. But you’re lucky it’s a Friday, or else I wouldn't be coming over so late,” Felix only chuckled at their exchange, then waved goodbye as they made their way towards the door.
Changbin laced his boots up while Chan opted for some simple slippers, then made sure his keys, phone, and wallet were in his pockets. Chan grabbed his helmet for him so he decided he was all ready to go. The sun was rising as they walked towards Changbin's motorcycle, the morning atmosphere quiet and peaceful save for a few birds chirping nearby. Changbin dug his keys out of one of his pockets and slid onto his bike, then let his eyes settle on Chan.
“You’ll really come and hang out again tonight? I don’t wanna keep you from home. I also don't know if Felix or Hyunjin will be here tonight," Chan pouted, his hands gripping Changbin’s helmet through the jaw piece.
“If they're not home, maybe I’ll take you up on that offer you proposed yesterday,” Changbin said without even thinking, not making eye contact with Chan at all in fear of making him uncomfortable.
When nothing was said, Changbin dared to look up and was met with Chan’s beet red face, his eyes looking anywhere but Changbin’s face as he rubbed the back of his neck with one of his sweater paws anxiously.
“Shut up,” he said finally, and Changbin laughed at his pitiful response.
Before he could register it, Chan was moving closer to Changbin. Stepping closer, so close until he was right in front of Changbin’s face. Their eyes met for only a moment before he was throwing Changbin’s helmet on him, making sure it was in place. Then more pressure than usual was being applied to his right cheek, and only after he was watching Chan run back towards the house did he realize that the older man had kissed his helmet. As Changbin sat in mere shock, he watched Chan look over his shoulder as he reached the porch and shouted, “Have a good day at work!” with the biggest, brightest smile on his face. Then he disappeared inside the house.
Changbin sat with his bike just idling for a full minute before deciding he better get his work day over with. He’d be much happier once he was back with his hyung, anyway. He wasted no time in releasing the kickstand and speeding off, laughing to himself as he coasted down the road, the pressure of his helmet against his blushing face making him jealous that it got a kiss from Chan before he did.
