Something is wrong…
Terribly wrong.
He’s in Yokohama, his hometown…but it feels different.
Let's backtrack, shall we?

He was on his way to a place that he is very familiar with. His friends are usually there on most nights, the Lupin Bar. He usually goes here after work and when he doesn’t need to look after the kids. When he got there, a kid in black, covered in bandages was sitting on a stool. He was poking at the ice in his drink. He would usually stop a kid from drinking but he was different.
When he walked down the steps, the kid perked up and turned around. A grin plastered on his face as he yelled out his name.
“Odasaku! Welcome back!!” He held out his bandaged arms and did jazz hands. This was Dazai, he is a friend of his. He also is a port mafia executive and is formally known as the Demon Prodigy before he became an executive. He may look young and fragile at first, but he is someone you do not want as an enemy.
“Dazai, hello.” He said while taking a seat beside Dazai. The bartender quickly gave him a drink similar to Dazai’s. He took a sip while listening to Dazai tell his day. He nodded and added on to the story his friend was telling. It was always interesting to listen to his stories. Dazai was an executive while he was just a low level grunt.
He liked this part of his day. Being able to forget all his worries and just listen to his friend talk. It was calming. He soon left the bar as it was getting late. He waved goodbye to his friend and left. Usually there’s another one there but he seems to be busy. His name was Ango and he was also low in the mafia hierarchy. Ango wrote records of people who died, even though no one would read them.
As he was walking back under the moonlight, he felt like he was being watched. He kept the same pace so as to not alert the person watching him.
It was quick.
Something jumped out and he quickly turned, a hand reached out to grab his face. Thankfully he has good reflexes and dodged the hand. He didn’t know if this person had an ability so he had to be cautious. His feet slid across the concrete, he quickly got out his gun and pointed it to the black figure.
He paused.
Chills ran up his spine as there was no one there, but the environment was different.

2 days later and now he’s walking around Yokohama but not the one he knows. He’s going back to his hotel that he bought with the little money he had on him. When he first arrived, he noticed that there were some new buildings. Some of the buildings he remembered were gone like the arcade. He never went in there but Dazai told him that’s where he met his partner, Chuuya. Dazai said that he would eventually let him meet him but that has yet to come. Oda has a guess about what’s going on, he has been sent to the future.
There must be a reason why that person sent him into the future. He hasn’t gone to places he knew just in case it affects the past. While walking back to the hotel, he found a flier barely hanging on to a street light. He decides to look at it because his guts tells him to.
“The Detective Agency?” He said under his breath. He remembers now, there was a newly established agency and the port mafia was keeping an eye on them. Should he go to them? He has been looking around for the past 2 days and hasn’t found anything that could send him back if his theory is true. No, he shouldn’t. What if his present self has a connection with them? Wouldn’t that affect his present?
Oda wasn’t really into time travel and knew nothing about it.

“DAZAI!!!” The yell shook the whole building, rattling the people inside. The agency was running like normal, Dazai wasn’t doing anything. Ranpo was also doing nothing but was surrounded by snacks and candy wrappers, Kenji was out tending to his cows, Yosano was in her office, and Kunikida was yelling at Dazai. Tanizaki got a cold so he and Naomi are back at their apartment.
While Atsushi was doing Dazai’s reports…why was he doing them when it was Dazai’s report?
“Kunikida!!! I’m not feeling very well today!!” Dazai said while playing on his phone.
“Dazai, I know you’re lying! You have a job today!” Kunikida said with no room to argue, he slapped Dazai with a file and started to walk away. “Take Atsushi with you, since he’s just been doing your reports that are meant for you to do.” He then sat at his desk and started to type up more reports. Surprisingly Dazai hopped up and walked towards the door.
“C’mon Atsushi-kun! Let’s go!” Dazai said while opening the door. Atsushi quickly stopped typing and catched up to Dazai. While walking, Dazai was looking through the report he was given by Kunikida. The sounds of people entered their ears as they exited the building.
“Where are we going Dazai-san?” Atsushi said while tilting his head towards Dazai.
“We are going to the park. There was a note that a passerby saw that said there was a bomb planted nearby. The note also wanted me specifically to come and investigate” With this Atsushi perked up.
“Eh? Why would someone plant a bomb at the park? Do they just want to hurt civilians? Also why specifically you?” Atsushi was confused by the motive of this mysterious person. It was quite stupid, and so stupid that even Atsushi could tell it was meaningless.
“Well I think that the letter was just for shits and giggles, maybe a dare by some teenagers?” Dazai shrugged. “But I don’t want Kunikida yelling at me so I took it on!” He waved his hands in the air comically. They kept talking about small things here and there until they made it to the park.
The park was not empty, there were some people walking around, walking their pets or just to enjoy the good weather. It has been raining the past few days so it was a nice day. Atsushi was walking behind Dazai when he hit his back.
“Huh? What’s wrong Dazai-san?” He looked up at Dazai and saw his mentor make a face he had never seen before. It was terrifying seeing his ‘invincible’ mentor look that way. He quickly followed his eyes to a man that was sitting at a bench, he was eating onigiri peacefully. Did Dazai know this man?
He looked at his mentor again and saw his face was back to normal but was a little disturbed. Like he was looking at something that was never supposed to happen.
“Dazai-san, is it something to do with that man?” Atsushi asked with a hushed voice. Before he could get another word in, he was pulled away by Dazai into a nearby building. Atsushi was surprised and looked back at his mentor with curious eyes. Dazai looked back at him and started talking.
“Atsushi-kun, that man isn’t supposed to be here.” His voice was serious, so naturally Atsushi was also serious. Dazai opened his mouth to say more but quickly closed it. It was silent for a while, Atsushi was waiting for Dazai to say whatever he was going to say.
“This man is supposed to be dead.” This sends chills up Atsushi’s spine. The dead aren’t supposed to come back is what Dazai believes in. This person is very important to Dazai, what is going on? Atsushi can tell his mentor is stressed. He wants to help but he doesn’t know Dazai very well to be able to do this. He’s pretty sure no one knows Dazai really.
“What should we do, Dazai-san? Should we confront him?” Dazai sighs. Without warning Dazai takes off. Atsushi is stunned and stays in place, he thinks that Dazai knows this person so he should take care of it.

Oda is eating an onigiri he got at the convenience store. He spent the day searching around and ended up at this park. It wasn’t here before but it was a nice park. In the future he has to bring the kids here, maybe he already does. The hairs on his neck rise as footsteps are heard approaching him. He quickly turns but is encountered by a familiar face.
“Odasaku! I didn’t expect to see you here!” It was a voice that he was familiar with. Oda looked at him wide eyed. The first thing he notices is the beige coat and the second thing is the lack of bandages around his eye. Actually there was none. The eye looked normal at first, but if you really looked, there seems to be a faint scar. The Dazai he knew was smaller, wore black and covered in bandages. This one was completely different though. He was brighter but there was a hurt look on his face that only if you knew him like he does you would know. He’s good at hiding it around others but Oda notices that he seems more comfortable around him. Even so, he barely caught it before it changed back. He got better of course, Dazai is the type of person to always improve no matter what. Oda guessed that the present him and Dazai are still friends so he replied coolly.
“Hello Dazai.” Oda said while eating the onigiri. Dazai quickly went to his side and sat down beside him. It was silent for a little. It wasn’t that he minded it, it felt nice instead of awkward.
“I didn’t expect you to be here Odasaku,” Dazai said with a sincere voice that he was caught a bit off guard. He recomposed and Dazai continued. “I’m actually here with someone!”
“With who?” Oda looked at Dazai and he quickly answered.
“Well I was actually on the clock! I came here with my new apprentice!”
“I didn’t see you with anyone else?” Oda questioned while looking around. Was Dazai talking about Akutagawa? No, he said new apprentice. He also complained about Akutagawa all the time.
“He’s somewhere around here,” Dazai looked around searching for him “oh look!” He pointed to an alleyway and a boy was seen. He jumped when he was pointed at and started to walk towards them sheepishly.
The kid had gray hair that had a streak of black in the front. His bangs were longer at his right while shorter at his left. The back was short. The haircut wasn’t the best but he decided that he shouldn’t comment on it. He had a pair of bright yellow eyes, they resembled a tiger believe it or not. He also has segmental heterochromia with purple on top. He wore a white button up, rolled
up sleeves, accompanied by black suspenders and black shorts. The belt resembled a tail…really seems like a tiger. And finally he has black boots that have heels. His showing skin lacks scars that all mafia members have, does he have a regenerative ability?
“A-ah, hello!” The nervous boy said with a wave while walking over. He smiled at the man like he knows who he is.
“Odasaku! This is Atsushi-kun!” Dazai says with a wave, Atsushi stands right beside Dazai and looks around. Is he weary about something? “Why don’t you say hi? This is your first time meeting each other so make it memorable!!” Dazai claps his hands and the ends of his mouth stretch out happily.
“My name is Oda Sakunosuke, nice to meet you, Atsushi.” Oda holds his hand out and Atsushi takes it without a second thought.
“Nice to meet you Oda-san! Dazai-san has said a lot about you so it’s exciting to finally see you!” Atsushi says with sparkling eyes while shaking his hand vigorously.
“Well Odasaku! It seems like we must head back soon!” Dazai gestures his hand at a watch that wasn’t there before. Dazai gets up and walks away with Atsushi following behind. Dazai looks behind one last time and waves before going behind a building.
Oda now sits in silence as the sun sets. The wind gets cold and the trees start dancing. There might be a storm today as the news stated so he should probably head back now.
The wind follows him as he walks back to his small hotel.
