6x10 Coda

Summary:

One way it can go after they arrive at the hospital.

Notes:

Wrote this after the episode instead of sleeping.
If it seems OOC, I'm sorry. This is my first 9-1-1 fic. Not beta read, barely edited. Don't own anything.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

All Eddie could do was watch as the doors separating the ER entrance and the rest of the hospital closed between him and Buck.

Buck, who'd been struck by lightning.

Buck, whose heart had stopped beating.

The was movement all around Eddie. Their crew. Their family. Every single one of them closed off from Buck and the ER doctors and nurses who where now in charge of saving the life of one of their family.

One who meant so much to each of them. Hen and Chimneys brother. Bobby's son. Eddies...?

Who was Buck to Eddie? His best friend? His partner His son's other father? His hero? Soul mate?

Buck was all those and more. Someone who meant so much to Eddie. And if Eddie lost him this night, he had no idea what he would do or how he would survive it.

"Eddie?"

The voice was familiar but sounded so far away, as if at the end of a tunnel.

"Eddie, sweetie. You need to let us check you out."

Turning towards the voice, Hen's concerned gaze comes into focus.

"What?"

"You were thrown off the ladder truck and you hit the ground hard. We need to look you over for injuries."

"No. No, I'm fine." Shaking his head Eddie turned back to look at the doors again.

That was a mistake though. The adrenaline that had been keeping him moving had finally run out and now his body was catching up to the fall. To hitting the ground hard enough to loose his helmet.

As darkness closed in around him, Eddie could feel hands on him, supporting him as he fell for the second time that night.

"Buck."

A whisper, then nothing.

Notes:

When Eddie was thrown off the truck that was a heck of a fall. He had to have been injured, especially if his helmet came off.
I don't really know where I was going with it, I just had the image of Eddie with a head injury and not noticing he was bleeding until someone else points it out. That didn't make it into the story though, haha.
