Watching you sleep (no, it’s not creepy— I swear!)

Summary:

Craig watches Tweek sleep, and reflects on the last few years he’s spent with his boyfriend…

And that next morning, Tweek thinks about how much he loves Craig.

(or, they both admire eachother at different times— reflecting on they’re time together— and how much they love eachother.)

Chapter 1: Craig POV!

Chapter Text

Craig never really stayed up after Tweek drifted off to bed— infact, usually he was the first asleep. Even when they stay up to 4 just talking and laughing. He's always the one to drift away on Tweek's shoulder, and wakes up with both of them wrapped around each other.

But tonight is different. Tweek fell asleep an hour before him, a whole hour! He had been talking about how infuriated he would be if the Red Racer reboot ruined the series, and Tweek happily (but tiredly) listened to him with a small smile.

His eyes almost closed.

The face was so cute to him he had to look away for awhile, and when he looked back— Tweek was asleep. His mouth slightly gaped open as small noises escape his mouth.

Craig lies next to him, observing and watching as the boy sleeps. He's wide awake tonight, and isn't too sure why.

He's wide awake, so he hears all the little mumbles Tweek let's out in his deep sleep.

He hears a few repeated phrases like 'what' or 'Stripe' even— but it makes him turn all fuzzy when he hears his own name mumbled a few times.

Tweek looks so peaceful as he sleeps, even when his brow furrows every once in awhile. His nose twitches sometimes, too, and it reminds him of Stripe.

It's adorable.

He has one of his star projectors on— one of the 3 he has... all three bring gifts from Tweek. It's the one that projects small green 'stars' (dots) across his ceiling, and they fade in and out.

Tweek finds that one the best for late night talking or movies.

He agrees, but he likes the ones with the constellations better.

The dots spray across Tweek's face and arms, fading in and out with his slow breathing.

He almost wants to reach out and hold his cheek, and count the freckles he can see with the dim lighting. He can see maybe 10 from here, and maybe if he got a little closer he could make out more.

Tweek is covered in them, everywhere down his torso, ending somewhere around his belly button. They go all the way down his back, sparser the lower you go.

He counted one time, and got to about 387 when his mom called them for dinner and lost track.

Tweek lets out a deep breath, completely calm and relaxed. It's typically how Tweek looks when he sleeps. He wonders how he looks when he sleeps. Does he also look relaxed, or does he look frustrated and angry? He's never asked, and Tweek has never told him.

Tweek's damp hair presses against his forehead in a way that makes Craig want to adjust it so that Tweek doesn't wait up with the worst case of bed head he'll ever see.

Tweek has a bad habit of showering late into the day, and sleeps with wet hair almost everyday. He's the same, sometimes, but he tries to regulate it.

Craig hesitantly reaches out, and pushes the damp hair off Tweek's forehead and away with the rest of his blond hair. He smiles contently when Tweek doesn't even shuffle with his touch, and cups Tweek's cheek gently.

Tweek told him his hands are soft one time.

Tweek's are the opposite, rough and scarred from years of coffee burns and working. But he loves Tweek's hands nonetheless.

He smiles warmly when Tweek curls closer to his touch, feeling his chest swell with love for his boyfriend. His boyfriend, that he thinks is too good for this world, sometimes. That is kind, yet mean sometimes. Impulsive, and nervous. Tweek is imperfect, and yet he loves everything about him.

even when Tweek beats him at any racing video game, or that one time that Tweek died while holding all of their diamonds in Minecraft.

Tweek admitted to him once that he doesn't really sleep well in his own house, and constantly stays up late into the night tossing and turning.

But, here, in Craig's house he seems to sleep fine. Maybe it's his mattress, or the way the vent lands directly on them and pushes cool air onto them all night long.

Maybe it's his blanket— or maybe it's him.

He bites his lip at the thought, and shuffles closer towards his boyfriend.

Now that he's closer, he can see the way his eyelashes curl upwards slightly, and count several freckles splattering across his face.

He thinks every single one was put there on purpose. He counts them up in his head, slowly, pausing when he gets to a beauty mark just above his lip.

He has a similar one, but it's mirrored.

Tweek has three beauty marks on his back that create a triangle, and it freaked Tweek out so bad when he told him.

Tweek mutters something in his sleep, but he doesn't really make out the words.

He wonders if Tweek ever observes him while he sleeps. If Tweek ever counts the eyelashes on his eyes— or if Tweek melts over him the same way he does towards the blond.

He thinks back to Spring Break last year, where the pair ran out to Stark's pond... and he carved their initials into a tree. Tweek had smiled at him— so warm as the sun shined through his hair and made him seem like a real sunflower.

Green eyes twinkled at him.

Tweek wrote the same thing on the bathroom stalls when school returned, in a big sharpie marker, among all the other  graffiti in the bathroom.

He was taking a crap in school when he first saw it, and smiled so wide his jaw cramped up.

His hand is starting to cramp, and he feels a bit of sweat starting to produce— and he should really move his hand but...

He likes the softness of his boyfriends skin on his palm. He likes the way his hand rises up and down with his breathing.

Tweek's hand shuffles, and his instinctively grabs it without thinking. He bites back a frown, but doesn't mind holding his boyfriends hand. Tweek doesn't react, minus a small grip on his hand.

He scoots a bit closer as he feels his eyes start to droop— and the projector automatically turns off just as he does. He sighs, softly, and closes his eyes.

... but sleep doesn't come. He opens his eyes again, and thinks about the past 4 years and a half with Tweek. They're in Middle School now, and a lot of things are different.

He's not this big sarcastic trouble maker like he used to be (not as often, anyway)— and in the same way, Tweek now has a shoulder he can always trust and lean on when he needs support. An out from his shitty parents who never really helped him— only made his problems worst.

and it was a lot at first, back when they first got together… but they talked, and communicated, and his own family never did that— does that. It was a first, but it meant a lot. It means a lot— that Tweek wants to talk things out instead of just letting him sit in his anger, or his own pity.

He's told Tweek things he's never told his friends before, and Tweek has trusted him with things he wouldn't tell anyone but him. He's gotten taller, and Tweek got a growth spurt too.

Tweek has made tamales with his mom on Christmas, and spent a whole three day weekend taking care of him while he was sick (even though Tweek is terrified of getting sick!).

Tweek spends most holidays with them— due to his own family being assholes most of the time. His dad seems to like Tweek more than him, some days! His dad will always make him a cup of coffee every morning when he stays over, and the two will enjoy it together while Craig sticks to his juices or water.

Tricia literally likes Tweek more than him, the bratty shit! She told him herself one night while Tweek went to the bathroom. She said quote, ‘I think Tweek is cooler than you, and would be a better brother. He doesn’t spoil the movies I watch.’ He attacked her right after.
She paints Tweek's nails, and tells him all the drama at her school. She shares embarrassing stories about him over dinner.

And his mom— his mom! She completely adores Tweek, constantly spoiling him with small gestures like getting the first plate of dinner, or not having to lift a finger post dinner (even when Tweek cleans up anyway). They bake and cook together sometimes, and on his 12th birthday he woke up to cake pops designed to look like the Earth’s solar system— and three that looked like different Stripes!

The cake was shaped like a milky way, and frosted to look like one too... somehow.

Tweek took a video of him reacting to it— and Tweek always talks about how it's one of his favorite videos of Craig— ever.

He thinks he looks dumb in the video.

Tweek told him he was a moron when he said that.

His wall is covered in pictures of Tweek, and Stripe... and the occasional one of him that Tweek takes. Even some with the other guys— all thumbtacked to the wall. Tweek is one of his favorite things to photograph.

And Tweek changed everything about him yet nothing at the same time. A few months ago, Tweek sent him a picture of a fucked up looking Garfield plush with the caption 'to be loved is to be changed'.

He got it instantly, but now, in this moment, he feels it sooo strongly in his heart that it hurts.

He shuffles closer, and detangles his hand from Tweek's to wrap it around him. He tugs the blond closer, and hums as he closes his eyes.

He feels Tweek's breathing against his skin, and smiles contently. It's warm, and comfy, and yet sleep still does not come as a million thoughts race through his head about Tweek.

He opens his eyes again, and stares at his boyfriend.

It was a night sorta like this, 6 months into their relationship— when Tweek had fallen asleep on his shoulder while he played Red Dead Redemption. He was talking about something, and looked down to see the boy fast asleep. Something swelled so deeply in his heart and stomach that it physically hurt. Several words with the same definition of cute filled his head.

He thought something was wrong with him the next day. That maybe he was sick, or allergic— or something stupid.

He asked his mom about it, and she smiled at him warmly... but didn't give him an answer. He asked his dad. His dad laughed and told him he was in love.

The next time Tweek slept over, and played with Stripe he felt the same feeling in his stomach, and blurted it out.

'I love you.' He blurted out, and Tweek gasped and turned to look at him. His pale skin turned bright red in seconds, and he gently placed Stripe back into his cage as he crawled over.

Craig felt the hair on his arms stand, and starred wide eyed as his own cheeks burnt. His heart was pounding, and he just wanted to punch himself in the face for being soooo fucking stupid.

'You do?' He asked, his brown-green eyes starring into his own black(sorta blue, in the sun sometimes) eyes.

'Y-yes. You make me feel all fuzzy, and stuff— and my dad said... it meant I'm in love with you.'

He gulped, nervously, and Tweek picked up his hand... 'iloveyoutoo! You— ack! I— i... you make me all warm and stuff, too!'

He bites back a smile, and stares down at Tweek, asleep in his arms. He closes his eyes again, and tries the technique Tweek told him about when he can’t sleep.

Imagine something, a world, until his mind tires itself out.

He imagines a spaceship (like the ones from Marvel, cause he thinks those are fucking sick!)and the vast universe with Tweek and him being space explorers. Out to explore, and nothing back home.

Just them, and the endless space around them. Distant stars guide the way towards something, and maybe they're like Rick and Morty— but less horrific towards each other. With dangerous, unbelievable adventures on alien planets.

...

He falls asleep with a smile on his face.

He wakes up to Tweek smiling warmly at him, Tweek's hand cupping his cheek.

He blinks the sleepiness out of his eyes, and smiles back. He can smell pancakes downstairs— because his mom always makes them when Tweek sleeps over.

The smell of coffee brewing, and the clatter of dishes as his dad washes them. The sound of the tv downstairs, way to loud because Tricia can never hear anything if the volume isn’t over 50.

He registers all of it, but all he can see, and hear, and smell and feel is Tweek.

“Did you know you talk when you sleep?”

Tweek turns pink in a second— “I do not you dork!”

“You do!”

Craig bites back his smile.

”Love you.”

Tweek smiles at him, deep in thought for a second. “… I was just thinking about how much I love you too.”
