Work Text:
Levi was walking in the corridors heading to Erwin's Office fuming. That bastard! Can't he just listen for once in his life? He barely made it out alive in the last expedition. He was just outside his door now. Levi barged in without even bothering to knock. Erwin's stance didn't even waver, used to Levi's mannerisms by now.
-"Yes Levi?" He asked not bothering to lift his gaze.
-"You can't go. All you'll be is a burden. You can't fight, not like this." Levi's voice held a little desperation despite his anger.
-"My presence is important Levi, you know this. We're not having the same conversation again. I have to be there when we go to the basement. I just have to." Erwin said scowling. Levi could see his irritation if not sense it. But Levi was having none of it. There was no hope for them without Erwin. He was the only one who could truly save humanity and put an end to the titans. They were nothing without his guidance. He was nothing without his guidance.
-"Hell, Erwin there is no reason for you to be there and you know it. You're just stubborn. Let us handle this, and we can bring everything we find to you immediatly. We won't even read it before you". Levi's eyes were pleading now but Erwin wasn't looking.
-"That is enough! I am the Commander and you will obey me Levi!" He was standing now, eyes full of anger.
-"This is madness! Why can't you listen?" Levi shouted completely abandoning any calmness he had before.
-"Levi!-"Erwin voice was like a growl and he moved towards Levi threateningly.
-"No! Is the basement really so important to you Erwin?"
-"yes"
-"More important than humanity?" And Erwin nodded slowly at this. "More important than your legs?" By the determined look on Erwin's face Levi didn't even need to hear his answer. Turning around trying to hide the moisture in his eyes he sighed. But Levi did not leave. He just couldn't. He could not leave him. Levi's body moved without him even knowing and came into hult infront of Erwin. His gaze was downcast but Levi rased his head with great difficulty , he felt so heavy all of a sudden.
-"Stay" he whispered while looking into Erwin's blue eyes. " please stay....i love you....please." He choked the words out of his mouth.
Erwin looked at him dumbfounded. His eyes were wide and his mouth opened and closed not able to make up words. Levi was fully crying now. Tears were streaming from his eyes while falsely waiting for Erwin to say something. But Erwin would never say the words he wanted him to say. So Levi nodded at him, a sad smile forming on his lips.
When he finally left his office and headed back to his room for the night all he could feel was a heavy sense of dread and foreboding. The feeling of loss was also there, as if he was already mourning him. And maybe in a sense he was. He mourned for what could be, or what could never be. He ignored the look of pity Hange gave him when he passed them. They at least had someone to love and to hold. Moblit is really lucky. I'm happy that they have each other truly.But...
He had no one. The only thing he could do was dream. Dream of a world where Erwin did throw his arms around him like he imagined he would every night in bed. Where his kisses would fill him with warmth and leave his body tingling. Where Erwin would just hold him and never let him go....
