Chapter Text
Tomura huffed, angrily swatting at the grayish blue bangs that kept blowing in his face. He’d need to cut his hair soon. Or have Kurogiri do it. The last time Tomura had tried to cut his hair had been… memorable to say the least.
The villain silently made his way through the city’s shadowy alleys, keeping his hood pulled tightly over his head. The last thing Tomura needed was some NPC spotting him and calling the heroes.
All Tomura wanted was a cup of coffee. Or maybe twenty Red Bulls. He deserved it after this week. What a nightmare.
The meeting with the Shie Hassaikai had gone horribly wrong. Magne had died, Compress had lost an arm and yesterday Twice had suffered three panic attacks, blaming himself for Magne’s death. So, not great.
The thought of Magne sent Tomura into an itching fit, desperately scratching at his skin until it was raw and red. He had tried to play it cool in front of OverHaul, he’d had no choice, but her death had shaken him.
He’d never admit it, but he’d come to see the League as some sort of makeshift family. A crazed, nonsensical family, but a family nonetheless. Magne had been the big sister of the group, always knowing how to fire up the group, or keep them going on a bad day.
She wasn’t supposed to die, Magne had some of the highest stats in the entire League, and yet OverHaul had taken her out in seconds.
They didn’t even have anything left to bury or mourn over. At least with Hana, her hands had been salvageable, with Magne there was nothing . She was there one moment and gone the next just like mother-
A sharp pain flared up from Tomura’s neck, snapping him out of his thoughts. He pulled back his hand, frowning at the sight of blood painting his nails.
Great, Kurogiri was going to kill him.
That was, if the mist man didn’t kill Tomura for not sleeping during the last two days. Tomura was fine, he could survive on coffee and spite.
Or at least he could, until the one coffee place in the area that had the kind of coffee Tomura liked closed. The cherry on this shitty sundae.
So here Tomura was, skulking through the alleys of the city, trying to get to the only other cafe in the city that sold the coffee he liked. And honestly? Tomura was feeling pretty pissed.
Between that “OverHaul” asshole, two days of sleep deprivation, and the fact that the League was being forced to team up with those plague doctor idiots, Tomura was about five seconds from going on a rampage.
Maybe a dead hero or two would cheer him up. Or Decaying OverHaul’s arms so the bastard was completely useless. That sounded like a nice idea.
One way or another, Tomura was going to get his revenge. Right now, the plan was to take the Shie Hassaikai down from the inside out, be it by destroying the group’s plans, or killing their leader, or maybe both.
They already knew OverHaul was working to create a quirk destroying drug, the only question was how he was creating the drug.
Twice and Toga were already working on figuring that out.
For now, it was a matter of patience, a quality Tomura did not possess. And it was driving him crazy.
The blue haired villain huffed, wiping the blood off on his hoodie. Bloody hands would just draw more attention. And for once, Tomura wanted to be ignored.
His eyebrows furrowed as he came across a particularly dark and ominous alleyway.
Yeah, this definitely wasn’t a sketchy place to be in.
Well, if someone did try to rob him, they'd be in for
quite the shock. That and this would save him at least five minutes of walking time.
Tomura made it about halfway down the alley when it happened. A squeak and flash of silver was the only warning he got before something crashed into his legs, almost knocking him over.
“What… what the fuck?” Tomura croaked looking down to see… wait was that a child?
Yep, a tiny girl with silvery blue hair was clinging to his legs. What the actual hell was going on? And why didn’t he feel the usual urge to disintegrate whatever was touching him?
Actually, the longer Tomura stared at the girl, the more confused (and concerned?) he got. The child was only wearing a thin, sleeveless white dress, which was odd considering it was freezing outside. Her arms were covered in thick scars, scars that no child should have, let alone so many of them. She wasn’t even wearing shoes.
“Uh, hi?” Tomura asked, keeping his hands raised in the air. “Can I help you?”
Where the hell were this kid’s parents?
“Please help me.” The girl whispered, staring up at Tomura with wide, bright red eyes. “Don’t send me back to him, he’ll hurt me, please!”
Tomura was trying not to have a mental breakdown. This kid was clearly terrified, but he had no idea how to help her, or what was going on and he just wanted some coffee, he was so tired.
“Who’s going to hurt you?” Tomura was mostly concerned about whether or not there was some villain chasing this kid. If so, there was a reason he had Kurogiri on speed dial.
Then again, he could probably just drop this girl off at the nearest hero agency and call it a day. But something wouldn’t let him.
Something told him that this was serious, and he needed to stay. How weird.
“K-kai. He’s going to be so mad!” The girl wailed. Kai? As in Kai Chisake? Also known as Overhaul? No, that was probably paranoia talking.
Tomura huffed, rubbing his eyes. “And why is ‘Kai’ going to hurt you?” That was apparently the wrong thing to say since the girl began to visibly panic.
“My quirk, I- it hurts people!” She cried, gripping the small horn on her head. “So h-he has to hurt me! Please, make it stop, I don’t want to hurt anyone!”
Oh.
Oh.
And suddenly Tomura isn’t standing in a dark alleyway anymore.
Instead he’s five, watching Hana, mother and his grandparents crumble, unable to do anything but watch and cry for it to stop.
He’s on the streets, begging for help, only to be turned away again and again.
He’s being chased by a hero for having a ‘villainous’ quirk, even though he’s five and he doesn’t want to hurt anyone .
He’s curled up under that dark and dank overpass, staring at an outstretched hand, as a voice as sweet as honey-coated poison cops at his misfortune.
And then the girl whimpers again, and Tomura is dragged back to reality.
“You don’t deserve that.” Tomura hears himself saying. “Even if you’ve hurt someone, nobody should hurt a kid for losing control of their quirk.”
“Really?” The tiny girl whispered, eyes full of hope. And something in Tomura breaks at the sight, and he almost staggers backwards as a wave of protective rage weeps over him.
He vaguely wondered if this is how Dabi feels about Shoto, he’d need to ask the man later.
“Yes.” Tomura practically snarled. “And fuck anyone who tries to tell you otherwise.” That’s what he should have done years ago.
The two stood in silence for a moment while Tomura tried to reign in his temper. He found that clenching and unclenching his fists helped.
“So.” The girl jumped at his voice, gripping his leg even tighter. “You wouldn’t happen to know a guy named OverHaul, would you?”
Because Tomura only knew one asshole named Kai who would be capable of hurting an innocent child. And if he was right? OverHaul was a dead man walking.
At that, the girl burst into tears, while nodding frantically. “Please don’t send me back!”
“Like hell I will.” Tomura grumbled, scooping up the girl with one hand and pulling out his phone with the other. He also made a mental note to buy some artisan gloves, trying not to touch things with five fingers was tedious at best.
Kurogiri picked up on the first ring. “Young Master, is everything alright?”
“No, it’s not!” Tomura hissed, trying to balance the girl on his arm. “I need you to create a portal at Warden’s gate!”
“Why? Are you in danger?”
“I may or may not have OverHaul hot on my tail, now can you make a portal or not?” Tomura seethed, eyes darting around, looking for any trace of movement.
As much as he hated to admit it, he wouldn’t stand a chance against the Shie Hassaikai leader at the moment. And he couldn’t leave the League without a leader.
“I’ll make one right away sir.” With that, Tomura hung up the phone and began to pace near the heavy stone gate.
“Hey kid.” The girl’s head jerked up. “What’s your name?”
“Eri.” She whispered.
“Eri.” Tomura hummed, it was a nice name. “Well you can call me Shigaraki.”
At that moment, a swirling portal of purple mist appeared in front of them. He flashed Eri a wide grin as he stepped into the portal.
“Welcome to the League.”
