“Happy six year Smallville High reunion.” Chloe exclaimed as she reached the barn loft, hand in hand with Oliver, beer in her other.
“Doesn’t have the same ring as five, does it?” Lois smiled.
“Well, some of us were unavailable for five.” Oliver replied, him and Chloe taking seats.
“Says the one who didn’t even go to the school.” Lois teased.
“One of two, actually.” Dean said.
Lois nodded. “I guess that’s true.”
“So where is the homecoming king anyway?” Chloe asked.
“Clark just went to grab some snacks. He’ll be back in a flash.”
“Literally.” Dean added.
Chloe grinned. “Ollie mentioned you were in on the big secret.”
“Yeah well, flying through our hotel window kinda did it.”
Suddenly, a gust of air caught them all off guard, Clark appearing with chips and a veggie tray. He took off his glasses, setting them on the desk behind him.
“Guess I won’t be needing those.”
Lois handed him a beer. “Here’s to another party without any secrets.”
Chloe grinned at Dean, who was still blinking in surprise.
“Now you know how I’ve felt every time he’s paid me a surprise visit over the years.”
Sam squinted curiously. “How long have you known?”
Chloe smiled softly. “I found out he had powers senior year.”
“Not that she told me.” Clark interrupted.
“It was when Clark lost his memory, wasn’t it?” Sam asked.
Chloe smiled. “That was my crash course in everything he had at that point. But I already knew about the strength and speed. Which is why I stuck around as much as I could that day. Stop him from doing anything in front of everyone else.”
“So how did you find out?” Dean questioned. “Not fully unconscious when he swooped in to save you?”
“Not exactly.” She shook her head.
“It was Alicia.” Clark responded. “She was pissed at me for not believing her innocence in those murders, decided to give Chloe the story of her life.”
“Ironically, for once in my life, I couldn’t find words. She started driving down the road, called Clark in a panic, then teleported us out of the car and we watched as he caught it in midair.”
“Huh. He did that for me once. Except I was still in the car and not conscious.” Sam replied.
Lois laughed. “I can still see your face when he was telling you.”
“Couldn’t be that much different than your surprise after the blur kissed you.”
“I’m not gonna live that down, am I?” Clark’s face flushed.
“Definitely not.” Lois grinned, kissing his cheek. “But I’m still proud of you for it.”
“So did Chloe also wait for you to come to her?” Dean wondered.
Chloe smiled sheepishly. “I tried, per Lo’s advice. But eventually I didn’t really give him much choice. The day of the meteor shower Lex caught me in the mansion, noticed one of the stones had been stolen. He took me down to the caves demanding answers. But I saw Clark, in a beam of light. I fought off Lex and accidentally ended up transported to the arctic with Clark.”
“She begged me to superspeed her out of there before she froze solid.”
Sam smiled slightly. “Stones. Like the one Lana gave you that day?”
Clark nodded. “They came together to form the crystal that created my fortress.”
“Where your dad talks to you?”
“Yes.”
“Why during the shower though?”
“They were calling me. My father was tired of me not facing my destiny. I would have loved to help you guys get out, but it was something I had to do.”
Sam nodded. “I understand Clark. We all made it through, that’s what matters.”
“You were a big part of that.”
“You’d do the same for me, Clark.” Sam smiled. “How is Lana, anyway? She still talk to you guys?’
Chloe nodded sadly. “She still calls sometimes, yeah. She made an impossible decision.”
“She put on an invisible power suit Lex had created to stop him from using it. He got back at us by having someone set up a bomb loaded with kryptonite. Her suit could absorb it, and that was the only way to stop it from blowing up half the city.” Clark explained.
Sam nodded solemnly. “Sounds like Lana.”
“She’s doing her own hero thing these days.” Chloe smiled softly. “She gets intel from us once in a while.”
“She’s damn good at it too.” Oliver added. “And as much as this recap is nice, I wanna hear some of these fun high school stories.”
Sam grinned. “You mean like when Chloe tried to stab me with a pair of scissors ‘cause she thought I was standing between her and Clark?”
Oliver raised an eyebrow.
“Ah the love potion laced gatorade.” Chloe grinned. “How about the time Clark and I walked up on Sam and Lois at the beach?”
Lois hung her head with an embarrassed smile.
“Really?” Dean laughed.
“Oh yeah. They were on the dock, all over each other.”
“Alright!” Lois interrupted. “How dare you, cuz.” She smiled.
Chloe shrugged with a smirk.
“How about the football championship?” Dean asked. “Bet you had to reign the powers in for that.”
Clark smiled. “Took a lot of convincing for my parents to let me play.”
“He actually saved me in the middle of the championship winning play.” Chloe beamed.
“You’re kidding.” Sam replied in awe.
“The foreign exchange student that was running the betting pool had me tied up by the speakers.”
“He told me to blow the game or he’d kill her. So I made the throw, ran and knocked him out, untied her, made it back before you made the catch.”
Sam shook his head. “Incredible.”
“Just another day.” Chloe smiled. “Like my birthday party.”
“That was the single worst hangover of my life.” Sam groaned.
“That’s because you weren’t at the bachelor bachelorette party of the century.” Oliver replied.
“Please tell me you still have the tape somewhere.” Dean teased.
“Hey, don’t tempt me to burn it myself.” Clark responded. “Like I did to the spellbook to save the girls.”
“That makes sense.” Sam smiled. “I hadn’t even thought of that.”
Clark nodded. “You know, I thought about telling you about me. When I came back from China. But it just didn’t end up feeling right.”
“Clark, believe me, I get it.” Sam assured him. “We weren’t exactly thrilled to tell you about the monsters back then. Besides, the important part is that you saved all our lives a lot more than you’d be willing to take credit for.”
Clark gave an appreciative nod.
“He’s also how I was able to get to South Dakota so fast.” Chloe added. “It was largely against his will, only out of concern for my safety, but he still did it.”
Dean grinned. “I knew it.”
“We definitely still owe you for that one.” Sam replied.
“You never did.” Chloe smiled. “I’d do it again if I could. But as special of a power as it was, the side effects were pretty killer. No pun intended.”
Lois smiled softly. “What about yours, Sam? You still get visions?”
Sam swallowed hard. “Not anymore, but it wasn’t actually a meteor power. Turns out it was more supernatural.”
Oliver gave him a knowing look, the only one who seemed to understand.
Chloe raised an eyebrow. “What, like a… demon infected you or something?”
Sam only nodded.
“How?”
“With its blood. When I was a baby.”
Lois’ eyes widened with fear. “The one that killed your mom.” She froze. “Oh God I’m sorry, I know you only told me what happened to her.”
“It’s alright Lois.” He smiled softly. “But you’re right. He infected a whole group of infants.”
Chloe shook her head solemnly. “I thought my evil upgrade with brainiac was bad. But having to carry something like that for essentially your whole life.”
“Truth is, I didn’t know until… well, not long before you brought me back.”
Lois bit her lip. “You told me that night the demon was dead. Is that when they ability disappeared?”
“More or less.” Sam replied, noticing Oliver’s curious look. “I mean I could have more if I exposed myself to more blood, but I learned the hard way that was… a pretty bad idea.”
Oliver smiled sympathetically.
Lois smiled slightly. “I guess there were a lot of secrets between all of us in high school. But we’re lucky. We trusted each other. We clearly had little reason to, but I couldn’t have asked for a better group of friends.” She raised her bottle.
“I couldn’t agree more.” Oliver joined her. “All of you have saved me at least once, in one way or another. Couldn’t have found a better team, better allies. Better family.”
Chloe grinned. “Clark and I were just talking a few months ago. It’s still crazy to think how most of us are those same dreamers from Smallville High. We really didn’t know anything. Barely even touched those dreams.”
Clark smiled, joining the toast. “But being here now, I wouldn’t change a thing.”
“I think we’d all change a few things along the way.” Dean replied.
“But that would have changed the journey. We wouldn’t be here together, as family.”
“I’ll drink to that.” Sam beamed. “I knew Smallville was going to be a good thing for me, but never thought it would give me this much.”
Clark nodded. “To Smallville, bringing us all together. We may not lead the most normal of lives, but at least we’ll always have each other.”
