Chapter Text

In the hallowed grounds of the mountain in the middle of nowhere, lay an ancient forest. A forest with mystical and mysterious creatures, with eyes that seem to watch your every move. Most who enter the forest never come out alive, or never the same.

Survivors babble about the four-winged god, the vampires that lurk in the shadows, or the silent eyes of the seven-tailed fox. Some had even encountered strange blue light that attacked them or a young stag that watched them carefully. The forest cursed whoever dared to step foot in its shade in order to protect its sacred deities, for its sacred deities brought all types of life to the forest.

The seasons resided in the forest, as it protected them and their children from harm. In return, the Seasons allowed the forest to grow in the sun and replenish during the night. This brought the forest much joy, as it had become secluded from the rest of the world during the Great War.

However, its favorite season happened to be the gentle god of Spring. The only son of Persephone and Hades. The four-winged god. With tanned skin and glittering green eyes the color of new leaves covered in dew, he was graced with beauty like no other. Back then, some even considered him even more beautiful than Winter and Summer.

But that was before the Purge, where a jealous god became envious of the Seasons' power. He collected his own team of gods to take the Seasons down, first starting with Autumn, and then Winter. Spring, knowing his fate would soon be sealed, fled with his daughter. He knew he could not save himself, but he could save his daughter; therefore, when the two reached the edge of a cliff, he turned her into seeds and flung her down below. The wind caught the seeds and blew them into the mortal world, where she’d one day awaken.

The gods soon caught up to Vernal, who stood still and accepted his fate. He struggled, yes, when he found out he would be nothing but a powerhouse for a goddess of fertility. A goddess who had gotten herself exiled after being caught in the arms of a mortal man (rumor said that Artemis cursed the man into a monster, and that monster went on to murder two young boys). Vernal took one last look at the forest and plunged into his emerald prison.
