Please, Don't Leave Me

Summary:

The Doctor has been secretly pumping regeneration energy into the Master while he’s asleep. One night, he wakes up.

Notes:

Please de-anon!

If you’re here for the prompt and not the AU, all you really need to know is the Doctor and the Master had a baby sometime between Spyfall part 2 and when the events of The Timeless Children would’ve taken place, had a second baby sometime after the Timeless Child stuff was revealed to the Doctor, and during the Flux they discovered one of the Master’s kids from his first marriage on Gallifrey was still alive.

Prompt:

Established 13/Dhawan with the Doctor subtly pumping regeneration energy into the Master at nights when he’s asleep to ensure he won’t ever run out of them and leave her.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

What woke him initially, the Master wasn’t quite sure. Maybe it was a natural break in his sleep cycle, or maybe the hand on the back of his shoulder hadn’t touched him as gently as the owner intended. Either way, someone was touching him, altering something deep inside him, he could feel the tingle through every cell. A burst of adrenaline snapping him to full consciousness, he lunged upright, snarling at the perpetrator as he grabbed them by wrists and pinned them onto their back.

Very quickly, he realized the person under him was the Doctor, her hazel eyes wide and breath halted in her throat as she stared up at him. Unhanding her as his expression dropped, he all at once became aware of the world around him. They were in their bedroom, in their bed. The glow of the fireplace softly illuminated the otherwise dark room, giving just enough light to see the nakedness of the Doctor’s body – he was too, he realized – and there was a golden aura around her right hand.

The Master’s gaze lingered on her hand, the silence surrounding them painfully heavy. Without a word, he rolled off her, sat on his side of the bed as he closed his eyes and clasped his hands in front of his face.

Not daring to move a muscle, the Doctor stared up at the ceiling, focused heavily on the patterns in the wood paneling. Her hearts beat loud in her ears, and her breath remained locked in her throat. Despite a search for words, only a static silence could be found in her head. Not that there were words she could hide behind, not this time, and not with him.

“What’re you doing?” the Master’s voice finally broke the silence.

Still on her back, the Doctor’s head turned to look at her hand, still radiating with regeneration energy. Letting her fingers relax, the glow finally ceased, and she pushed herself into a sitting position.

“I think you know,” she half muttered, finding herself unable to look at him.

Eyes still closed, the Master let out a long exhale. The tingle of fresh regenerations could still be felt spreading through his body, dulling by the second, but still very much there.

            “How long?” he asked.

“Almost two years,” the Doctor admitted, wrapping her half of the blanket around her body.

            “Why?”

“Why do you think?” she said with no hesitation.

Opening his eyes, he found himself lingering on the question. “One little bullet, come on,” the Doctor’s pleads from lifetimes ago replayed in his head. “Regenerate, just regenerate. Please. Please!” A twinge in his hearts, the Master began to wonder; how had it taken him this long to realize existence without him might be just as terrifying to her as it was to him?

“How many regenerations have you given me?” he asked as he turned to look at her.

“Not sure,” the Doctor shrugged, eyes still down, “Hard to keep track. Not like I’m at risk of running out.”

For a moment, the Master just stared at her. He’d always sought to extend his life, sometimes going through the most drastic of measures to do so. These days, however, there were complications.

“So, you and I could go on forever,” he spoke up, “And the kids-?”

“Not something we have to worry about,” the Doctor was quick to assure him, letting the blanket slide off as she moved closer, “I ran some tests after Adrastos was born, starting on myself. Found the minute part of my DNA that’s suppose to cap the body’s natural number of regenerations to twelve. I say “suppose” because I’m missing the cap. Lofn and Adrastos are too, I checked many times over. They’ll never run out of regenerations, but you-”

“And Spades,” the Master cut her off.

Stomach knotting, the Doctor again averted her gaze. “Uh… about that… You remember a few months ago when she cut her hand?”

            Brow raised, the Master nodded.

“Well… I thought… it’d be helpful if I had a control sample, something to help me measure how many regenerations you have. I should’ve asked, I know I should’ve, but… I didn’t want her telling you anything, so… I got a vial and collected some of the blood she got on the console.” Very hesitantly, she lifted her head. “Spades’ regenerations aren’t capped, not anymore. I tested over and over, even took hair from her brush, and collected saliva off her cups. I can’t be sure, but… I think what happened at Division… unlocked it somehow.”

Taking a pause, she studied the Master’s expression, finding his thoughts unreadable. “I haven’t told her. I need to, I know, but…”

Moving slowly, she lifted her hands, placing them on the Master’s bare chest. “These hearts… are the only ones I need to worry about. If they ever stop beating…”

“They never will,” the Master assured her, gently placing his hands over hers. Leaning forward, he sealed the promise with a kiss, as soft and warm as the glowing fireplace.

Sliding her hands from his chest to his shoulders, the Doctor pulled their bodies closer, straddling his lap as his hands trailed to her waist. Parting for breath, the Master pulled her lower lip between his teeth, letting go to let his kisses trail along her jaw and down her neck. With a soft moan, the Doctor indulged in the heat spreading through her core, rocking her hips as she felt something warm and hard press against her.

Reaching down, she gave his cock a gentle stroke, feeling him moan against her collarbone as his tongue traced along her soft skin. Feeling how wet she already was, the Master slid his hands to her thighs, lifting her onto his aching cock. Both of them moaning, the Doctor slid her hand between their bodies, trailing down until she reached her clit.

“Ahh,” she breathed, locking eyes with him as their hips rolled in tandem, “Keep going.”

Only able to grunt in response, the Master gripped her closely, one hand on her ass and the other around her waist. Her body was so perfect around him, so wet and warm, and it was heaven to feel it properly. Every penny spent on his male contraceptive implant had been well worth it, he decided for what had to be the hundredth time.

Breath picking up speed, the Doctor circled her clit faster. Release was within reach; she could see it on his face as well. Roughly bringing her lips to his, she pried his hand from her ass, bringing it instead between her legs. Feeling his fingers take over for her, she let out a deep moan and brought her hips down harder. Soon enough, she cried out in ecstasy, her walls fluttering around the Master as he reached his own peak.

“Doctor!” he cried in a deep, shuttering grunt.

Coming down together, the Doctor curled herself up against the Master, both of them panting as he slid out of her. Still holding each other, they leaned back against the pillows, and the Doctor’s eyes began to close.

“Don’t ever leave me,” she muttered softly, her head on his chest as she listened to his dual heartbeat.

“I won’t,” the Master promised, gently running his hand through her hair.

Yeah, so, I decided a long time ago that Lofn and Adrastos inherited the Doctor's unlimited regenerations, and that Spades' sacrifice/near-death experience in End of the Universe unlocked it in her too, but wasn't sure how to address it in a fic until I was inspired by the prompt. Whether you read for the AU or the prompt, I hope it was at least enjoyable.
