Chapter Text
Dear Leon,
Hi! My dad was able to get me an address for you. I hope you don’t mind. I wanted to check in since you left pretty suddenly after I got back to dad. I get it, though! You’re busy saving the world and all. Which, I should let you know that I totally appreciate all you do. I love being safe and sound back here in America where there are no weird village guys trying to kill me or whatever they were trying to do.
I’m back at school, by the way! Whole slew of guards with me too. They’re not as cool as you, though. Their one liners need polishing, y’know? I tried personally requesting you as my bodyguard, but one, I thought better of it. Two, dad said no. I knew you would get bored watching me take English Literature classes. Who knows, though? My Shakespeare 400 classes might interest you a bit!
I know you might not write back, you being so busy and all. However, I wanted to say thank you again. I would be dead or worse without you. I’d still be stuck with those awful people, but I’m home safe because of you and your dedication.
Wish I could join you. Going through hell with you is worth giving up an easy life here at home. I feel so useless here, especially when I know you and your team are saving people and making a difference out there.
I sent you my necklace in this envelope too. Wear it, won’t you? For luck.
The coolest damsel NOT in distress,
Ashley Sarah Graham
Ashley,
Glad to hear from you. Good to know you’re back in school. Take notes for me, okay?
Got the necklace. Thanks, but you didn’t have to do that.
Study hard, and change the world as best as you can. I’ll continue shooting things and saving the world. Can’t tell you much about it. Classified. But you already knew that, didn’t you?
— Leon S. Kennedy
Dear Leon,
Got your letter! Thanks for writing me back! Sorry I’m so late getting back to your letter. I was out with friends for spring break and didn’t get my mail until after. Remind me to never drink again.
Hope the necklace serves you well. It’s my lucky necklace since it got me out of hell.
As for my break, classified, it is not! So, you have to read about it because it’s very important to me. We went to the beach, and I found out what a Mai Tai tastes like. It’s really good. My friend Lorraine (you’d HATE! Lorraine) bought them for us. She first made us do shots, but that was run of the mill college girl stuff. And don’t worry, Leon!!!!! I drank lots of water, so I barely even had a hangover the next day. But, we had our shots and then our Mai Tais. And then, we met up with Lorraine’s boyfriend, Michael. He was nice, but he was a little creepy. Still, he didn’t do anything too weird. I would have totally kicked his ass if he had. I was watching when I saw you leg sweep everybody. It was really cool. I can be really cool too maybe! His friend Reese was nice, though. He actually goes to school with me too, funnily enough. Either way, the rest of the night we went to this club and danced the night away. Except, I’m not very good at dancing. You don’t get to see it, though. EVER.
The rest of the week was less drinking, though. Mostly my fault. We played laser tag. I won. I’ve also been practicing my shooting. Good segue in my opinion. I started right after I got back. Dad said it wasn’t a good idea, but I wouldn’t budge. I’m pretty good with a pistol. Not too shabby. We might have to have a competition when you come visit me. If you come visit me. Starting to think you don’t like me anymore Leon. (This is a joke by the way!!! I know you’re busy and that you STINK at getting jokes!!!!!!!!!!)
Your favorite person in the world,
Ashley Sarah Graham
Ashley,
Sorry it’s taken me so long to respond. Hope this is still a good address for you. I know you’ve probably graduated by now, but hey, there’s always a forwarding address, right?
If all else fails, I’ll send it directly to the White House. They’ll know where you are.
Glad you’re learning how to protect yourself. That’s smart of you. You’ve always been smart though.
Proud of you. Also, you’re on. If we go toe to toe with each other in the shooting range, I won’t just let you win. You gotta earn it.
See you soon, Ashley.
— Leon S. Kennedy
Leon,
Five years. Can’t believe it’s been that long. Heard you became a DSO agent the other day. Good for you. Sad we never got to have that shooting competition, but I’m sure you would have beaten me at it anyway.
I wrote to tell you the good news. I have a son now. Reese and I got married two years ago, and we just had Scott. Well, I just had Scott. Reese didn’t do much of anything except faint at the sight of blood. I named Scott after you.
I know we never really got to see each other again after 2004, but you had a big impact on my life, Leon. And it isn’t just because you saved it. I carried a torch for you for years. I didn’t even realize Reese was flirting with me until he asked me point blank. I almost said no, holding out for you. Thank God I didn’t or I might not have this little lump of joy sleeping next to me.
I’m writing this from my hospital bed because I’m sort of a badass (if you didn’t know already). I really can’t believe we never exchanged numbers. I mean, for God’s sake, Leon, it’s 2011 now. We should be able to shoot a text to one another between your little secret agent missions. I’ll write it down for you at the end. Call if you wanna hear Scott babble. He’s adorable.
Stay safe, Leon. World’s going crazy.
Hot mama,
Ashley Sarah Graham-York and Scott Andrew York
