Work Text:
Emmet is verrry happy right now! Ecstatic! Overjoyed! All sorts of delightful, bouncy, fuzzy feelings fill his chest as he tightly embraces his long-missed twin brother.
“Ingo! Ingo, Ingo! I am Emmet and I missed you verrry much!”
“Emmet… I- I missed you too. More than you could ever imagine…”
Emmet can’t think of anything else except the pure joy that warms his heart, that vanishes years of sorrow, that causes the natural smile on his face to stretch even wider. So many things could’ve gone wrong, could’ve derailed and thrown him off course on his way to the ancient Hisui region, but somehow fortune has smiled upon him and he finally gets to be with Ingo again. Their reunion couldn’t be any better than he imagined! Holding his twin like this, Emmet never wants to part from his other half ever again, and he can tell that Ingo feels the same with how tightly he hugs back with unexpectedly strong arms.
Now that they’ve reunited, it’ll all be okay! With the mighty power of Arceus embedded within Emmet’s Xtransceiver, they can go back to their home station! They’re going to go back and reunite with their other family and friends as well! Their pokemon are going to be so excited to see that Ingo is back! And maybe once everything’s settled down, they can work together to reopen the battle subway…
But for now, Emmet’s a little tired. He did just travel through time and space after challenging the Original One and miraculously succeeding, so he at least deserves some rest… preferably while remaining in his brother’s arms.
Ingo likely notices his exhaustion because he’s quick to sweep Emmet off his feet and carry him to his private living quarters. And wow, Emmet certainly didn’t expect that! He can’t stop smiling as he looks up at Ingo, older and rugged and so much stronger than before. And Ingo smiles now as well! Not the usual purrloin-like grin he does, but an actual, genuine smile!
So much has changed and Emmet feels excited about it! Of course it’s a bit of a shame that they’re no longer as identical as before, but Emmet won’t deny that the changes his brother has gone through give him a new, special attractiveness. Verrry handsome!
…Then comes the news that Ingo has amnesia, and some of Emmet’s enthusiasm is dimmed. But it’s brightened yet again when Ingo assures that he still remembered Emmet, at least in his heart. Emmet isn’t sure why, but he laughs. While crying too! He’s like a swinging pendulum of emotions, swaying between delight and sorrow, never settling down. He supposes that’s just the essence of change. Things lost, things gained. Both negative and positive!
And that’s okay! Everything’s alright now! They’re together and that’s all that matters.
Emmet makes sure to convey all of that to Ingo as difficult as it is through choked sobs and a tightened throat. But even with that reassurance, the older twin continues fretting over him long after the tears have stopped. Such a worrywart.
The two talk for the rest of the day, or what remains of it. Just idle chatter and the sharing of simple stories about their past and what they’re doing now. They seem to fall into a familiar rhythm of conversation, the topic of their discussion flowing and stopping and abruptly switching tracks, as all conversations do. Naturally, they end up talking about pokemon quite a lot, the types and variants from different regions as well as the ones closer to them…
It’s unfortunate that Emmet’s arrival in Hisui was a solo trip and he wasn’t even able to bring his and Ingo’s pokemon with him. Considering Ingo’s amnesia it would’ve been good to have their old partners around, both to potentially jog his memories and also for the fun reunions their ten rowdy pokemon would definitely bring about.
Night soon falls over the region, though Emmet doesn’t exactly realise this with how much he just needs to say to his brother after all this time. He usually isn’t one for words, and this would be the very first time he’s talked until he can no longer do so from the sleepiness clouding his mind and slowing his words.
But it’s okay… They don’t have to go home immediately… Maybe tomorrow, when they have a little more energy… when the day is fresher and the sun is brighter…
As Emmet begins dozing off, he feels Ingo’s hands on him, gently guiding him to a bed. It’s been so long since Emmet’s slept in the same bed as another (excluding their pokemon), but it feels so natural to have Ingo’s warmth, his familiar yet different scent, his firm body, all surrounding Emmet like a comforting blanket. The younger twin can’t resist snuggling into it with a sigh. He feels a gentle kiss pressed against his forehead, and even through the haze of sleep his lips curl up into a content smile.
It’s all… okay…
And as Emmet peacefully sleeps, he is none the wiser to how his brother watches him through the night, his gaze intense and glowing.
The next morning, Emmet wakes up to a warm embrace underneath warm covers, the side of his face pressed against Ingo’s chest and his hands clenching the light pink sweater-thing his brother wears. Unexpectedly, Ingo is already awake, if the hand slowly stroking Emmet’s side is anything to go by. The touch is nice and soothing, but also a little… titillating with how a palm lingers on his hip and fingers almost brush against his butt.
Emmet wonders if his brother is aware of what he’s doing, and then realises that Ingo’s definitely doing it intentionally when he sees the hints of an amused smirk on the older twin’s face. Emmet feels his own face heat up and he pointedly looks away from his brother, a blush surely colouring his cheeks. He hasn’t mentioned anything about their… rather intimate history yet, but it appears Ingo intuitively knows, since he’s already doing such suggestive teasing.
Eventually, Ingo is the first to speak, mentioning that he’d briefly gone outside and found that the weather was rather miserable. Much too cold and wet for them to do much else except stay inside his living quarters for the day. Emmet confirms this himself when he gets a peek of the snowfall outside, although the cold air that chilled his skin as soon as he rolled out from under the covers was already enough to convince him.
Eager to get back under the covers, Emmet wriggles into Ingo’s arms which naturally come around him. With little else to do, they simply talk, much like the previous day. They discuss quite a few things which end up wandering down different tracks, both significant and trivial. Emmet hears of Ingo’s duties as a warden, and it easily transitions to their previous jobs as subway bosses, which then proceeds towards the topic of going home.
Emmet is happy to bring it up, to explain to his brother that they can easily return to their home station and reunite with the ones who also miss Ingo dearly, but he trails off awkwardly when he sees how Ingo’s face goes unusually still. It may not be noticeable by others, but Emmet’s always been able to read his brother’s microexpressions, and at this very moment, Ingo clearly isn’t pleased with the news.
Emmet isn’t given much time to wonder why when Ingo instead asks what their home station is like. With a warm smile, Emmet gladly shares his memories of Nimbasa City and the whole of Unova, reminiscing on the lives they used to live and the many experiences they’ve gone through, both exhilarating and mundane. But even with his clear words and enthusiastic delivery, Emmet gets a feeling that his brother isn’t quite listening to all of what he has to share… Sure, Ingo’s eyes are intensely focused on him, but the older twin merely hums in response to the younger’s sentences, which is verrry strange since he normally has more to say, like his own thoughts to add.
Yet again, Emmet isn’t given much time to dwell on that when he suddenly finds his lips being stilled by his brother’s in an unexpected kiss. The shock of it is enough to blow away any thoughts in Emmet’s head and he stares agape at Ingo who just smiles fondly at him before leaning in for another kiss. Affection fills Emmet’s heart and warms his face as he opens up to Ingo’s mouth and tongue, and soon his whole body starts heating up with excitement.
From there, it quickly escalates. One moment they’re dressed and the next they’re completely stripped of all clothing, skin against skin underneath the warm covers. Ingo’s eyes and hands roam Emmet’s unblemished pale skin, while the younger twin in turn explores all the new scars and marks that define his brother’s tougher body. It’s all so fascinating to see and feel, and it somehow turns him on even more – though he could just be mistaking it with how Ingo continues to touch him so sensually.
Even without his memories of their past, Ingo still seems to know all of Emmet’s weak spots perfectly. His hands know where to tease, caress and stroke, his mouth knows where to lick, suck and bite, and Emmet easily melts into a moaning mess under his touch.
Their first time together after so long is both just like before yet completely different. Ingo is gentle and tender, yet also intense and overpowering, and Emmet loves every moment of it as he drowns in pleasure. The weight of a stronger body against his back, the hot breaths on his neck, the heat rubbing between his thighs and stimulating his own sensitive parts. It’s all so much, but not enough as he whines and gasps for more.
The thrilling sting of a bite on the back of his neck is the final thing to push Emmet over the edge, his vision whiting out and a choked moan escaping him. Ingo follows shortly after, groaning into pale skin as he sinks his teeth in deeper.
Of course, the two don’t disembark on the first stop. With so much time between them, it’s only right that the ride continues past stops two, three, four… for as long as either can go.
“Please?”
“No, Emmet.”
“Pleaaase, Ingo?”
“I already said no.”
“Why not?”
“We’ve been over this. Because there are many threats in Hisui’s wilderness, and I cannot risk you being attacked or injured, especially with your current defenceless state… And don’t you try to argue against that with your ‘superior abilities in pokemon handling’. I know you’re capable, but this region is more unforgiving and harsher than you think.”
“Ingoooo… I am Emmet. I can’t just stay in here forever. It’s getting borrring…”
“I understand how you feel, Emmet, but it’s much too dangerous out there. Safety checks first, right?”
“…Okay, I understand…”
“Good. All you need to do is stay here where it’s safe. Don’t worry, I’ll be back soon…”
As soon as Ingo leaves his abode, Emmet slumps down with a sigh. He stares at the only exit to the remote house for a moment and his eyes inevitably slide over to the pokemon floating just next to it. It seems today Alakazam is the one watching over him which means there’s basically no chance of Emmet going outside, what with the pokemon’s teleportation abilities.
Several days have passed since Emmet first arrived in Hisui and reunited with his twin, and Emmet’s currently faced with… an odd situation. He certainly didn’t expect to be staying in this simple home let alone the Hisui region for this long, and he can’t seem to break out of the unexpected stalemate he has with his brother. Even with the region’s weather improving, Ingo continues to stubbornly forbid Emmet from taking even a step outside, always repeating the same reasonable arguments time and time again. They’ve had the same exchange multiple times and Emmet finds that he’s nowhere close to winning an argument against Ingo.
Emmet gets it. He understands that Ingo only wants to ensure his safety. He knows that his brother can be verrry protective… but this is getting a little ridiculous.
Emmet’s aware that there are definitely other people out there in the Hisui region – Ingo’s own recounts of the Pearl Clan, Diamond Clan and Galaxy Team are evidence of that – but the younger twin hasn’t even seen another person in his whole time here (aside from his brother, of course). He’s only been surrounded by pokemon – mainly Ingo’s partners, though he does catch glimpses of the wild pokemon outside as well as the supposed ‘Sneasler’ that Ingo looks after.
Every day, Emmet spends his time inside with one of his brother’s pokemon closely watching him like some guard, preventing him from even attempting to leave the house. The pokemon are actually rather amicable towards him as a result of his own playful interactions with them and also probably because he’s identical to their trainer, but in the end, the pokemon are just as stubborn as Ingo. When Emmet tries to convince the pokemon watching him to let him out, they simply refuse, remaining loyal to their trainer. When Emmet tries his best to make a distraction, even when it’s effective, the pokemon all have verrry good instincts and never let their guard down.
It reminds Emmet of Chandelure’s behaviour back when Ingo had disappeared. Fitting of its ghost-typing, Chandelure basically stuck to Emmet, haunting him day and night and never leaving him alone. Emmet had assumed that it was the pokemon’s way of ensuring he too wouldn’t suddenly vanish, but now he gets the feeling that there was more to it…
While lost in thought, it takes Emmet a moment to realise that he’s been fiddling with his modified Xtrans and he quickly stops himself, pulling his coat sleeve over the device. He’d shown his Xtrans to Ingo before, but then halted in his explanation when he noticed his brother eyeing it weirdly. Fortunately, Ingo was happy to let the tracks of that discussion terminate and they never addressed it again after that. Emmet isn’t quite sure why he himself hasn’t brought it up again… This is their ticket back home! …So why is it taking so long for him to finally use it?
Despite how much the twins have had time to talk to one another, Emmet feels like there’s much about Ingo that he doesn’t yet understand, and it makes him feel weirdly uneasy. Every day, Ingo comes and goes from his abode in intervals to have meals, to bring back supplies, or just to check on Emmet. Whenever Emmet would ask about what Ingo has gotten up to or how his day went, he always dismisses it, insisting that it was just the usual and nothing interesting happened. Instead, Ingo would always mention how he spends all day thinking about Emmet, and while the younger twin is flattered by that, the warmth of his brother’s affection is also accompanied by the faintest chill of uncertainty.
Not because Ingo is lying – of course he isn’t! Emmet would know! …It’s just that Ingo seems genuinely disinterested in anything occurring outside, which just so happens to coincide with anything that doesn’t have a connection to Emmet… And Emmet isn’t sure what to think of that observation.
In contrast to the boredom of daytime, at least the evenings are much better for Emmet since it’s when he and his brother can just spend time together without interruption. Whether it be a casual discussion, some nice cuddling, or perhaps a more intimate reacquainting of their bodies, Emmet is happy to do all of that with his twin. He is glad and content that he can always be with Ingo now! Yup!
But… there’s always some faint sense of unease and uncertainty. It’s much more noticeable when Emmet’s left on his own to mull over his thoughts, but sometimes he gets brief flashes of it even when he’s with Ingo.
Perhaps it’s the way Ingo looks at him. Of course Emmet delights in the affection, love and care that usually softens his twin’s silver eyes, but there are times where Emmet notices something darker within them. Something that’s certainly new and almost chilling with how it pierces through him or threatens to swallow him whole. It’s difficult to describe, and Emmet still can’t decipher what that look means.
Along with that indescribable gaze, Emmet finds that Ingo pays quite a bit of attention to him… perhaps a little too much attention. Emmet wouldn’t be surprised if his brother admitted out of nowhere that he would watch the younger twin sleep, since he always seems to be aware of the quality of Emmet’s slumber. Well, it’s not like Emmet hasn’t ever watched his brother sleep before, but he’s never made a habit out of it.
It’s come to the point that Emmet occasionally feels like something is off even when they’re in the midst of pleasuring one another. Whenever they do it, it’s like there’s this overflowing desire that Ingo just barely manages to hold back, though it still shows itself in how he whispers his affection and devotion with such heaviness, how he repetitively sucks and bites Emmet’s skin, never letting the marks completely fade, or how can get more rough than Emmet recalls… Though that may be due to the older twin’s improved strength.
Emmet quickly shakes his head, deciding to just put those thoughts aside like he always does. He’s thinking too much. Of course his brother would be different, of course he would’ve changed after all this time. It’s inevitable. Emmet has also changed over time! And he would never judge Ingo for something like that, even if the differences do make him feel a little uncertain. Regardless of it all, Emmet’s love for his brother will never change! Yup! He’s already grateful enough that they can even be together again with little consequence, that even after all this time they can still be a two-car train!
Everything is fine. It’s all okay! Yep! Yup!
Ingo is just being a little overprotective…
One day, Emmet perks up from his daily state of boredom when he hears something outside. Someone is shouting and it’s verrry clearly a person’s voice! Although Emmet can’t quite understand what they’re saying, he listens carefully and notices that the voice is getting louder along with the crunch of snow as whoever it is approaches the shelter.
A wide smile stretches across Emmet’s face at the realisation. This is a rare occurrence where someone has shown up when Ingo’s not around, and perhaps this is Emmet’s chance to finally get out there! Without a second thought, he quickly jumps up and eagerly makes a dash for the exit.
“Hey–mmf!”
Of course, Emmet doesn’t account for the vine that wraps over his mouth along with several other vines which easily restrict his limbs, all coming from his brother’s grass-type, Tangrowth. With muffled words, Emmet writhes in the pokemon’s secure hold, hoping that he’ll somehow be able to escape despite already knowing his attempts are ultimately futile.
He can still hear the voice outside, shouting almost angrily like they’re complaining, and Emmet realises that he really can’t understand what they’re saying because they’re speaking a whole other language. Regardless, Emmet still yells through thick vines in hopes that the stranger outside may be able to hear him.
But then, Emmet hears another voice. He hears the familiar tone and firmness of Ingo’s voice, speaking the same language as the stranger outside. Emmet falls silent and still in Tangrowth’s vines as he tries to listen to the exchange, straining his ear to pick up anything else aside from the words he cannot comprehend. He hears the stranger’s angry voice drop to a softer volume as Ingo continues talking, his voice remaining firm as he seems to placate or perhaps reprimand the other. It all ends with the crunching of snow getting further away as the stranger leaves and Emmet barely manages to hear a sigh from his brother. Whether it’s of relief, exasperation, or exhaustion, he isn’t sure.
Not long after that, Ingo enters his home and he sighs once again when he sees Emmet all tied up in Tangrowth’s vines.
“You tried to leave again, didn’t you?” he asks with a disapproving frown.
Emmet just stares at him, not moving or responding, nor confirming or denying the question. It’s not like he can verbally respond anyway with the vine still wrapped over his mouth.
“Emmet. Answer me. Did you try to leave?” Ingo asks more firmly, moving over to Emmet and gently pulling away the vine covering his mouth. The older twin levels the younger with a hard stare, patiently waiting for an answer, and when Emmet continues to remain silent his frown grows deeper.
Eventually, Emmet can’t take it anymore and he meekly nods.
“…Yep,” he quietly answers and shrinks into himself, feeling ashamed under his brother’s displeased gaze.
Silence permeates the space following Emmet’s admission and he only shrinks further into himself while averting his eyes downwards, not wanting to see the disappointment that’s clearly on Ingo’s face. It feels like an eternity until Ingo finally responds.
“Thank you for being honest,” he softly says while brushing a hand against the younger twin’s cheek. He then looks past Emmet to his pokemon. “You can let him go now, Tangrowth. I’ll take it from here.”
The vines around Emmet recede and he’s finally regained mobility, but before he can even think of moving, Ingo’s arms wrap around him and secure his arms behind his back. With a piercing gaze, Ingo almost looms over Emmet and the younger twin automatically gulps under the pressure.
“Oh, Emmet… you never learn, do you?” Ingo murmurs against his ear. “Even after everything I've said, can’t you be a good little brother for me?” He then nuzzles into Emmet’s neck, kissing and nibbling on the expanses of pale skin exposed to him.
Emmet shudders and he suppresses any sounds that threaten to escape his throat, unsure how he should respond to all the conflicting signals he’s getting from his brother. His breaths and heart rate are quickening, but he can’t tell if it’s from arousal or… something else.
“I… Ingo this isn’t right,” Emmet states, though it’s hardly assertive with how soft and weak his voice is.
“We’ve already made love numerous times, so I believe we’ve long passed that station,” Ingo replies, tightening the hold he has around his twin.
“That’s not what I mea– mmrf!” Emmet’s swiftly cut off by lips that seal over his and a tongue that slips into his open mouth. His brother’s leg pushes forward, slotting between his and pressing against his crotch. Smothered by the deep kiss and tight embrace, Emmet’s protests are silenced with ease.
It’s as Ingo lets go of one of Emmet’s wrists to wrap around his waist that the younger twin finally has the opportunity to forcefully push his brother away, although with Ingo’s greater strength Emmet doesn’t get too far.
“Ingo!” Emmet shouts, a scowl twisting his usual cheery expression. He ignores the surprise in his brother’s eyes as well as the hint of upset within them. “Please, at least let me go outside. Just for a short while. I am Emmet and I haven’t seen the sun in days!” he complains, harsh breaths following his outburst.
Ingo just stares at him with a neutral expression, though the slight furrowing of his brows indicates he’s at least considering Emmet’s words.
After a moment, the older twin finally answers, “Very well.”
Emmet blinks in surprise.
“Wait, really?” he asks, perking up at his brother’s unexpected answer.
“Yes,” Ingo says with a nod. “I understand that I can’t keep you cooped up here forever, so we’ll go outside together.” He stresses the last word, narrowing his eyes ever so slightly. “Of course, we can only do that when I deem the weather is good enough–”
Just before Ingo can finish his sentence, he’s pleasantly surprised by Emmet suddenly jumping onto him in a hug with a big smile on his face.
“Thank you, Ingo! Thank you, thank you!” Emmet chirps and he excitedly hops in place, jostling his brother with the movement.
Ingo’s eyes soften at the bright enthusiasm and he buries his face into Emmet’s shoulder as he gladly returns the embrace, relishing in the warmth and scent of his twin.
“Anything for you, Emmet,” he murmurs under his breath as a smirk twists his natural frown.
Emmet smiles giddily to himself as he finally sees the outside world after weeks of staying put indoors. It’s even better that it’s an outdoor date with Ingo!
Under the pleasantly warm weather, the twins hold hands as they walk side by side with Tangrowth lumbering behind them, all of them appreciating what the region has to offer. Ingo occasionally points out things in the natural landscape and Emmet listens intently, finding that he learns quite a bit about survival, the people’s lifestyles here, plus how capable his brother is. Ingo truly is verrrry reliable!
“Emmet… there’s something I’d like to ask you,” Ingo says as they continue their simple stroll, and the younger twin is brought out of his thoughts. With a curious smile, Emmet tilts his head in question, waiting for his brother to continue.
“Back then, you said we’d be going home, right?”
Emmet’s expression brightens up and he nods eagerly. He didn’t expect his brother to be the one to intentionally bring up this important topic of discussion, but this is good! Ingo is showing interest!
“Yep!” the younger twin happily replies, “I know the way. We can take the same tracks I took to get here.”
“Is that so?” Ingo mutters, and then he suddenly stops walking, falling behind as his hand slips out of his twin’s. Emmet takes a couple more steps forward before he spins around in confusion and sees how his brother is turned away, looking out at the vast landscape.
“Say, Emmet… Is it really that important that you return to your home station?”
The question causes Emmet’s cheery expression to falter slightly. He doesn’t pay much mind to the fact that ‘you’ was used instead of ‘we’, instead more bothered by the main implication.
“Of course! It’s our home station! Of course we need to go back,” Emmet answers firmly with a forced smile and laugh. But he awkwardly trails off when Ingo doesn’t respond, just standing there still and quiet.
“You… Don’t you want to go back?” Emmet asks, his voice wavering with uncertainty, and his smile fully drops in worry when his brother still doesn’t reply.
After a moment of drawn out silence, Ingo finally turns around with an unreadable look on his face and Emmet reflexively stiffens as he suddenly feels a seriousness in the air. Tangrowth must also sense the change in atmosphere because it stops dawdling and adopts an alerted stance.
With slow movements, Ingo reaches into his coat and takes something out, raising his hand to show the white and gold lining of a certain device. Emmet’s Xtransceiver.
“It’s this device, isn’t it? Your ticket home.”
With a shocked expression, Emmet automatically grabs his own wrist only to find nothing there. Before he can even move, vines suddenly lash out to restrain him, constricting around his body and covering his mouth too. Tangrowth has clearly learnt to predict Emmet’s actions after all this time and it easily handles his violent thrashing, lifting him just above the ground.
“I’m forever grateful to whatever deity or entity allowed you to arrive at this far away station… but I believe this is the terminal,” Ingo says, looking at the device in his hand with a coldness in his eyes.
In a flash of light, Gliscor is released from its pokeball and it clicks its pincers, its natural grin appearing much more sinister than Emmet recalls.
“Gliscor,” Ingo calls for his partner’s attention, and then he proceeds to throw the Xtrans up into the air.
“…X-Scissor.”
“Hmrmmf!!” Emmet’s muffled shout goes ignored, and he can only watch as his Xtrans is destroyed mid-air by a powerful slash from Gliscor’s large pincers. With shaking eyes, Emmet stares at the broken pieces of the device that fall to the ground, small fizzles and sparks sputtering off the exposed circuitry.
“Emmet… Do you know that I’m unable to depart from this station? I tried before… back when there was another who fell from the sky,” Ingo admits solemnly as he looks up at the blue sky, at the space above Mount Coronet, and Emmet’s muffled cries fall silent as he listens to his twin’s words.
“…When they completed their mission, they were able to return to their correct time and space, but I wasn’t permitted to couple my car to theirs. The almighty told me itself, that the tracks to this stop were one way for me… and so returning to my home station is impossible,” Ingo explains with a tension in his voice, and Emmet isn’t sure whether it’s stemming from sorrow, frustration, or possibly simmering anger.
“You understand, don’t you, Emmet? You understand why I’m doing this.” Ingo moves closer to cradle his twin’s head between his hands and Emmet stills in the gentle hold, seeing the full darkness of his brother’s intense gaze.
“I was lost, hopeless and despairing until you came to me… My brother, my twin, my Emmet,” he utters with such emotion, his eyes almost seeming to glow. “I won’t– I can’t let you leave. I already lost you once, and now that we’re together again I won’t let anything ever come between us.”
Emmet shivers at the promise and he tries to speak, but the vine wrapped over his mouth muffles all his words. Ingo is quick to hush him with gentle touches and he brushes a hand against Emmet’s head, knocking his white hat backwards to affectionately press a kiss against his forehead.
“Just as I am bound to this terminal, I will bind you to me,” Ingo declares with a soft tenderness yet also with firm finality, and a warm smile stretches across his face.
“Don’t worry, Emmet. I will take very good care of you.”
