Chapter Text
“So why, exactly, CAN’T we just take a little trip to a timeline?”
Mobius glances up, looking at Loki with an unimpressed look. “You know exactly why.”
“Well, maybe I want you to explain it.”
“Loki, I’ve explained it like a hundred times, we can’t risk creating a branch just because you want to go drink Mai Tais on the beach.” Mobius has looked back to his paperwork and continued to write, no longer even looking at Loki.
“Excuse me, I wouldn’t drink Mai Tais, that’s much too pedestrian, it’s like you don’t know me at all.”
“Oh, excuse me, your majesty,” Mobius rolls his eyes but can’t help an amused smile twitching onto his face, hidden as he keeps his eyes on his work.
“Anyway, I think there are plenty of reasons to go to that timeline I showed you, not only can we drink to our hearts content, you can also ride a jetski, or Norns you can even just take a nap on the beach— when was the last time you slept, you look exhausted…”
Loki waves his hands around as he continues speaking, lost in his ever expanding list of pros and cons, some more legitimate and some more ridiculous, so engrossed in trying to convince Mobius that he doesn’t notice Mobius carefully setting down his pen and standing up.
“… I think you’d look rather dashing with long hair, so if we hopped to a timeline I could show you what you’d look like—”
Loki is cut off rather abruptly when Mobius gently catches his face in one palm and presses a long kiss to his lips. He lingers just long enough that he hopes it will redirect Loki’s train of thought.
As he pulls away, with a pleased smile on his face, Loki looks at him with his mouth slightly dropped open.
“Oh,” is all Loki can manage to say, but Mobius sees his cheeks blooming into a pink blush.
As he’d hoped, Loki’s brain seems caught up in the kiss, and Loki simply stares curiously at him for a moment. It’s not their first kiss, but they’re still learning each other and it clearly caught Loki off guard, which was Mobius’ hope. He’s secretly pleased that he managed to surprise Loki for once.
Finally, Loki’s lips curl into a dangerously sly smile.
“Well, Mobius, you got me for a moment I’ll admit, but if that was meant to make me forget about going to a timeline you’d be sadly mistaken.”
“Oh yeah? Why’s that?”
“Because I want to take you somewhere quiet where we can do more of that.”
