Luz didn’t know what to do…what to say, all she could do was watch as her friends stood in front of her glaring at her with pure hatred. She tried to say something, but before she could say a word, her girlfriend stepped in front of the others before turning to stare at her with the same expression that the others had. Seeing this in front of her shattered her heart into pieces, she had hoped that her friends had forgiven her for what she had done by introducing belos to the collector, she was hoping for this whole thing she was experiencing was just a dream.
She felt tears start forming in her eyes, she tried again to talk to them, but Amity cut her off before she could say a word, with a tone of voice that she had never heard her girlfriend speak in before “I’m sorry, but for the sake of everyone you hurt…”
Luz felt the tears that were forming in her eyes start to fall down her face, as she finally got herself to speak “Please…no…” that was all she could get out before her throat closed on her.
“Luz Noceda…I challenge you to a witches duel.” Luz listened as her girlfriend said all to familiar phrase, but when she said it all those months ago at the convention, she said it to stop Amity’s bullying. But now the roles were reversed, and her friends in front of her looked like they weren’t going to end the duel till they got rid of her for good.
Luz tried her best to keep her cool, there had to be a way out of this without anyone getting hurt, she had to try. She took a deep breath “Sweet potato, please listen to me…I am so sorry, but I promise I had nothing to do with any of this…”
Amity’s expression darkened even more before shouting “HOW COULD YOU SAY THAT!” Luz flinched back with surprise.
With her shoulders still heaving she continued in a dark and angered tone “You lead Belos to the collector, you put all of this into motion, you lead everyone in the boiling Isles to their deaths.” Amity took a deep and frustrated sigh.
“All while prtending to be our friend, pretending you loved me. And when we needed you, you just watched everyone be petrified.” Luz could feel herself losing focus as her breathing became heavy. She continued to try her best to convince herself that this wasn’t real, that it was just a nightmare come to life. But at this point, she couldn’t convince herself anymore, it all felt to real. She felt herself fall to her knees “Please…don’t do this…”
Willow and Gus both walked forward to stand next to Amity, they both had shadows over their eyes. Amity was the one to speak as she drew a spell circle and all three of them enter a battle stance “I’m sorry, but you have to go.”
Luz looked up at them and felt herself give them a pained smile “Do what you have to do, I refuse to fight you guys…and no matter what, I’ll always love you guys.” For a second Luz thought she saw the slightest glint in Amity’s eyes, but it was gone before she could even get a clear look. The next few seconds happened so quickly that Luz didn’t have any time to react, Amity lunged forward with an abomination fist and quickly knocked Luz to the ground, which caused Luz to hit her head hard against the floor. After recovering slightly from her dazed state, Luz had stringbean change out of their staff form and quickly hid them in her shirt.
After tucking stringbean away Luz suddenly felt a sharp pain start spreading up her leg, when she looked down, she saw she was being constricted by vines with sharp thorns on them. Only a second later and she was completely wrapped in vines, every thorn easily cutting into her skin. Before she could process anything else, she felt her head get slammed into the ground again. Once her head recovered, she tried to move only to be hit again, this time she felt a staff hit her right arm. She tried to make any kind of sound, but nothing came. She had enough strength to roll herself over so that she could protect stringbean.
She felt another strike on her arm again, this time she heard a sickening crack, and she felt all the feeling in her arm disappear. She didn’t know how long she laid there taking blow after blow, and as much as it hurt, she refused to fight her friends, even if it killed her. After what felt like an eternity the beating stopped and Luz forced her eye as much as she could, she could only feel her right one open, either her left one was swollen shut…or worse.
Even with the assault ending, she still felt pain flaring through her entire body. She barley was able to move her head enough to see the others standing above her, Amity’s abomination fist were covered in blood. Luz made eye contact with Amity as best she could and tried to talk to her “Am..ity..” Amity’s eyes glared and she raised her fist again and was about to hit Luz again, but then stopped. Luz watched as Amity and the others eyes widened before getting their usual shine. Amity blinked in confusion before she realized the scene in front of her. Luz watched as tears started gathering in all of their eyes as Amity took a step back “L…Luz?”
Luz tried her hardest to put on a strong face, even in her condition as she smiled at them “Hey…Mi Amor” Before she could say another world, Luz’s eye rolled into her head, and she passed out. Amity watched this happen and quickly tried to rush forward to her girlfriend “LUZ!!” Before she could reach her, all four of them were suddenly grabbed by puppet strings and one by one were lifted into the sky. As strong as the strings were, Amity tried her best to fight them and reach Luz, and before being taken away she grabbed Luz’s hand and placed a light glyph in her hand “I’m so sorry” Were the last words she said before being fully lifted into the air.
Luz felt herself wake up moments later, she looked around with her one good eye and saw she was in what looked like a children’s toy box. She also saw King and Eda being tormented by their own nightmares. She wanted to move, to save them, but she couldn’t. Luz couldn’t feel her legs, her chest felt tight, and her right arm was definitely broken. She tried her best to hold back tears as she tried to figure out something she could do. When suddenly she felt something nuzzling her face, she looked and saw stringbean holding onto a glyph before placing it in front of her.
She didn’t know what the point of activating it was, but it was better than nothing. She painfully lifted her left hand from under herself and pressed it as hard as she could. Once the glyph was activated, she watched as multiple light orbs started floating through the air, she didn’t know what it was going to do, or where they were going.
All she knew was she did the best she could before feeling herself fall into darkness again.
