Work Text:
Teddy opens the door to her home after another long and exhausting day at Seattle Grace. She slipped her bag off her shoulders once she stepped inside.
“What’s that smell?..” She mutters to herself quietly as the scent of chocolate chip cookies smoothly make its way to Teddy’s nostrils. She closes the door, slips off her shoes and slowly makes her way to the kitchen, where “Like a Virgin” by Madonna became louder with each step Altman took. Teddy finally reaches the kitchen and is suprised to see her girlfriend - Cristina Yang, singing along to the lyrics and taking freshly baked cookies out the oven. Her back was turned so she couldn’t see Teddy.
“Like a Virgin! Touched for the very first time…” Cristina sings as she sways her hips
“You’re baking?” Teddy suddenly says with a smile. Cristina jumps, nearly dropping the tray of… goods?
Cristina turns around and her scared expression quickly switches to a happy one when she sees Teddy at the doorway.
“Hey, baby!” She beams; people would find that odd and would probably think that she was buttering them up before she did something tragic to them. But they never knew the real truth until they truly got to know Yang. Teddy is the main part of the very lucky few who are blessed to even exchange conversation with the cold, harsh cardio surgeon without being sent away or recieving a life-changing insult.
“Hey, love,” Teddy grins lovingly, “What you got there?” She walks around the counter and behind Cristina, then she places her chin on the black-haired woman’s right shoulder
“Err.. cookies?” Cristina raises an eyebrow, “I haven’t tried it yet. Wanna take a sample?”
Teddy was silently hesitant. Not that she didn’t trust Cristina or anything. She trusts her girlfriend with her life, she trusts her with anything. However, her girlfriend’s cooking plus baking skills were not the best. She may be the best cardiothoracic surgeon anyone will probably ever get and see, but Cristina Yang in the kitchen making food? Might as well get a kid to make a simple dish and the results would be the same.
Teddy anxiously smiles and takes one of the smaller cookies into her grasp. She slowly takes a bite and when it touches her tongue, she instantly wants to spit it out.
“I-…” Teddy feels nauseous. “I-It’s am..mm…mazing, ba—by..!” She forces herself to chew, “Oh god.. whys this so bitter and so burnt ?! What’d she do?!” Teddy thinks
“Thank you!” Cristina gives a big smile, like she always does when she succeeds in a complex problem.
“I can’t do it.. I’m so sorry, love!!” Teddy internally apologises as she goes running to the sink where she empties her intestines.
Cristina watches, her smile fading, “Is it that bad? I don’t think it is.” She takes a bite and immediately spits it out, “WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT? T—that’s not a bloody cookie..”
“Cris, I love you and everything but please! Do not bake or cook on your own!” Teddy wipes her mouth with a tissue and drinks the water that Cristina had handed her after she had downed a whole bottle of it whilst Teddy had her head in the sink.
“Yeah.. I think it’s for the best.” Cristina pouts
“It’s alright, you’re still an ass-kicking cardio surgeon.” Teddy takes Yang’s face in her hands and softly kisses her on the lips, “You know what? Maybe I can teach you how to cook.”
“Urgh.. Boring. I’ll stick to my cereal, thank you very much!” Cristina grins triumphantly as she walks over to the pantry and grabs the cereal box, “I love you, Teddy!” She slaps her girlfriend’s ass playfully before leaving to the living room.
Teddy laughs and after throwing out those hideous, monstrous cookies, she makes her way to Cristina where they both end up eating cereal out of bowls and watching corny, cheesy horror films.
