The world had truly made it a goal to fuck Bakugou Katsuki over.
That was his first thought when he woke up. His second thought was that he was going to murder someone today. Fuck being a hero. Fuck all that righteous bullshit. At that moment, the only important thing was how fast he could kill the person at his door.
The incessant knocking continued. All he wanted was to explode that extra into another dimension.
“Kacchan! I know you're not asleep!”
He closed his eyes and counted to 5.
Finally, he stormed over to the door, yanked it open, and glared. The dumb nerd was standing there, with a bright smile on his face. It was 4:30 in the fucking morning, still dark outside and yet the nerd still managed to look like sunshine in human form.
“What. The. Fuck. Do. You. Want.” he scowled down at that infuriating smile.
“We should go for a morning run!”
He took a deep breath, “Deku, it’s not even 5 in the fucking morning yet, why the absolute fuck would I do that?”
Here’s a fact: Katsuki Bakugou believed in routine. He went to bed at exactly 8:30 pm (no he wasn’t a grandpa, it’s called a healthy sleep routine, you insomniac fuckers) and woke up at 5:30 am. If any godforsaken extra decided to ruin his routine, they would be meeting all hell. Cute smiles and fluffy hair were no exception to that.
Here’s another fact, contrary to popular belief, Izuku Midoriya was a little shit. Sure, he had a heart made of gold and needed to protect everyone ever and had the brightest smile known to mankind. But he also had way too much information on people (courtesy of his creepy stalker notebook writing) and did not hesitate to use it against them. That's exactly what he was doing now, disturbing Katsuki’s routine and sanity.
“Doesnt Kacchan want to be the number one hero? Ah, maybe he doesn't have the guts, he probably needs his precious beauty sleep. I guess I'll just go on my run and surpass him completely.” Deku's eyes twinkled, knowing exactly how to get under Katsuki's skin. Damn the nerd. Deku knew exactly what he was doing.
Katsuki slammed the door in his face, but not before catching a glimpse of the satisfied smirk on the nerd's face. The world has made it a mission to fuck him over.
—------------------------------------
Despite all rational thoughts in his mind, Katsuki Bakugou was succumbing to the madness of going for a run at 4:30 in the morning. All because the dumb nerd knew how to infuriate him. Said nerd was waiting outside for him, stretching those way too defined calves of his. When he noticed Katsuki, he brightened up like a goddamn child and ran over to him.
“I didn't think you would make it with how grumpy you were being.”
Katsuki rolled his eyes, “Like hell i would let you get ahead of me,” He started doing warm up stretches of his own, careful not to look in Deku’s direction, he did not need distractions. He was going to go on his normal morning run, albeit a bit earlier than usual which was completely unnecessary but Katsuki was not going to be salty about it.
“Kacchan looks pretty in the mornings.”
Katsuki swears he felt his heart skip a beat, and sure that's extremely cliche but it's much better than saying he fell flat on his ass while trying to do lunges. He hears the echo of Deku’s giggles behind him and swears to all the gods out there that cursing him like this was not a good idea. The annoying thing was the nerd looked ethereal in the morning too (if you could even call it morning). His freckles formed a faint splatter across his cheeks, mirroring the constellations up above. His hair swayed in the soft breeze and god Katsuki wanted to run his fingers through that. His eyes were the best part though, bright against the dark sky, warm even in the face of shadow.
Katsuki snapped himself out of it, this was the worst part of being around Deku. The way it made him lose all rational thought and go waxing poetry about the dumbest things. He sounded like the main character of one of Mina’s cheesy rom coms.
Deku scrutinized him with calculating eyes, similar to how he assessed villains during combat training. "You're really trying to keep up, huh? It's cute how hard you're working, Kacchan."
Katsuki didn't know why he bothered dealing with Deku's taunts, but he couldn't resist the opportunity to prove him wrong. "Shut up, Deku. I'll surpass you, and then I'll beat you to a pulp in training. Just you wait." He started running ahead, not waiting for Deku to catch up.
“Kacchan! That's not fair!” The challenge was unspoken between them, the comfortable routine of push and shove, it was their game and he knew exactly how to play it. It wasn't the strange sparks between them or the lingering glances, it wasn't the unknown. So he let the wind rush around him as his feet pounded on the pavement. He let the sound of footsteps and taunts encourage him further. He forgot about the way Deku made him feel, about the way he wanted to graze his fingers across the nerd's cheek, about how he wanted to ruffle his hair and make him smile and trace his freckles. He forgot about it all.
—------------------------------------
Katsuki didn't realize how long they'd been running till he almost bumped into a tree, his breaths coming out in short puffs. They'd somehow ventured off the pavement and into the trees, jumping over stray branches and under leaves, trying to beat the other. He could feel Deku beside him, breathing just as hard, sweat dripping down his forehead.
“What? Is Kacchan, ” Huff. “Tired,” Huff. “Already?”
The nerd still somehow managed to look otherworldly, even with sweat coating his face. His eyes were still bright as ever, and with the faintest bit of light peeking through the horizon, he looked like an angel. His hair was practically glowing, the emerald illuminated by the light, messy and wild.
A vein twitched in Katsukis forehead, like hell he would let the nerd beat him in anything. He stood up straight, and started running again. He heard Deku’s protests behind him, but he wouldn't let that deter him from winning this. From winning whatever the fuck was going on between them. Nothing could beat Katsuki Bakugou, especially not some fluttery feeling in his chest.
“Kacchan!”
He kept running, not stopping to look behind him.
“Kacchan!” the scream got louder, he quickened his pace. He didn't know why he was still running but he really didn't want to stop.
“Kacchan! Stop!” this one was even louder than the last.
He felt a crushing weight hit his back as the air got knocked out of his lungs. He fell forward, knees scraping against the rough earth. He felt the cool ground beneath his cheek. What in the world did the gods, no scratch that, what in the world did Deku have against him today?
“What the absolute fuck Deku.”
The mass above him stirred but didn't move to get up, he tried to stand only to get shoved down again by an arm on his back.
“You keep running away!” Deku's breath caressed his ear, but he ignored the shiver that crawled up his spine in favor of screaming back.
“Thats literally the point of a fucking race, dimwit!”
“You know that's not what I was talking about!”
“Hah? How the fuck should I know what you mean, what am I? A goddamn mind reader?”
He heard Deku growl above him. “You're insufferable!”
“You're a pain in the ass!” he snarled back.
“You make me want to punch something!” Deku dug his arm farther into Katsukis back, crushing his face into the ground.
“You make me want to blow something up!” His heart pounded against his check, it felt like it was going to burst.
“Your face is annoying!”
“You smile too much!” He thought about all the times he's seen Deku with that adorable smile of his, with the dimples on his cheek and the freckles stark against his skin. He wanted that smile to be directed at him, he wanted to be the reason for that smile.
“Why can't you just listen for once!”
“Why do you have to be so goddam stubborn all the time!” Katsuki's thoughts wandered to the determined glint in Deku's eyes, the unwavering strength of his jawline. He thought about the way Deku never gives up, how he's always there. Helping. Reaching his hand out towards Katsuki.
“Why do you always have to be so infuriating? God sometimes I just wanna kiss that stupid smirk off your face!” Deku’s words hung in the air, unfiltered and raw.
He stilled, another insult on the tip of his tongue. Did he hear that right? Did the strange morning finally get to him, was he hallucinating? He heard the nerd's sharp intake of breath right before he felt the weight lift up off him. He heard the scrambling of footsteps, knowing that Deku was going to run away again.
He jumped up from his position on the ground, grabbing Deku’s arm before he could manage his escape. He looked at Deku’s face, his eyes were downcast, looking at anywhere but him. He had a light dust of pink on his cheeks, and it was possibly the cutest thing katsuki had ever seen.
He took a deep breath, “Then do it.” He smirked, the challenge evident.
Deku glanced up at him in shock, his mouth opening and closing. Katsuki quirked his eyebrow, the nerd was not going to back out after all of that, he wouldn't let him.
Katsuki leaned in closer, his grip on Deku's arm tightening, “or are you too scared?”
Deku’s lips crashed against his. It was awkward and clumsy and probably a bit too aggressive, but Katsuki still felt like he was floating on cloud nine. He pushed back with just as much force. Kissing Izuku Midoriya felt like a challenge and he didnt care if he won or lost as long as he got to continue doing it.
Deku twisted his hand into Katsuki's tank top, pulling him closer, crushing their chests together. He tilted the nerds head back, slotting their lips together.
“I think it worked,” Deku said when they finally broke apart, his eyes glinting and his lips kiss swollen.
Katsuki rolled his eyes, “I allowed it to work.”
“Oh yeah?” Deku smirked and leaned in again.
He didn’t know how much time passed with them standing between the trees with the sun rising in the sky, the sound of birds chirping and leaves rustling surrounding them, content with each other.
The world might’ve made it a goal to fuck Bakugou Katsuki over, but he got a dumbass nerd out of it, so really, who was he to complain?
