Chapter Text
There was it, a bright blue box, which had a lid with a see-through part in the middle, and inside the small box, a cookie, cut in the shape of a star, with yellow and red frosting, and under it, it was written on the box: “Your dark eyes remind me of the night sky, shining, full of stars”.
It was the third time Beomgyu had found a blue box sitting at his desk, carefully placed right in the middle of it. The first time he got a cookie he wasn’t sure if he should eat it. On the second time he decided to try a small piece of it, after making sure he wasn’t feeling anything suspicious he just ate it all, it was very sweet, but not in a bad way. He should definitely find out where the person who sends him those cookies gets them.
The next day, a now red box sat at his table, a heart shaped cookie, and under it a different message - “I wonder what’s your favorite color. Did you prefer blue instead of red?” - Beomgyu really wanted to give them an answer, but how? It’s the fourth time he gets a cookie but he still has no clue of who could be sending those. Trying to find out if any of his classmates had seen anyone place the box on his table he found out that the box would always be there before anyone would arrive in the classroom. But now at least Beomgyu had a clue. The person who sends these must get to school really early.
During his really boring math class Beomgyu had an idea. He could leave a message too, he’d just leave a note on his desk, this way whoever was leaving the cookies there would see it. When the class was almost over, he quickly picked up a white post-it, a black pen and wrote:
“Hey,
If you're the one sending me these cookies, please tell me who you are!
You’re killing me with curiosity.
p.s: I do like the red box, and my favorite color is pink”
Beomgyu quickly stuck the post-it right in the middle of the desk, then slowly put his stuff in his backpack as he waited for his classmates to leave. When there was almost no one in the classroom he went home, thinking if the person sending the cookies would get the message.
The next day was a friday. Beomgyu did not sleep very well this night so he ended up going to school earlier. However, he wasn’t early enough to see who was leaving the cookies, because when he got to his classroom there was already a red box sitting at his desk, and Beomgyu’s post-it was sticked to it. The person who sent the cookies had written
an answer to his message on the post-it- “I’m glad you like the red color, but I’ll make sure to get pink boxes next time ;)”.
Beomgyu couldn’t help but giggle at the answer, he then decided to eat the cookie now, since he was quite hungry. Today’s message was: “Should I just stop sending these cookies and just talk to you? I really wish I could, but I’m afraid you won’t like me.” Reading that made Beomgyu kinda disappointed, why would they think Beomgyu wouldn’t like them? Beomgyu quickly did the same thing as the other day, in a post-it he wrote “Why would you think I wouldn’t like you? All of the messages you’ve sent to me made you seem super sweet, and just made me want to get to know you more!”

When Taehyun got to school Monday, he quickly made his way to Beomgyu’s classroom, he was a year above him, but his classroom was very near Taehyun’s. When he got to the classroom he was disappointed to see that Beomgyu was already sitting at his place, layed on the desk taking a nap. Was he late or was Beomgyu way too early? He figured he would just send the box during their break.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Beomgyu was very disappointed when he got to school but didn’t see a box or someone trying to leave the box at his desk, he thought that if he was early he could finally see who was sending him those cookies. Everything was going ok, until he fell asleep and just woke up with the bell, telling him his first class had just begun.
A few hours later he was coming back to class during break with his friend Soobin, who was in his last year of school, a year above Beomgyu. They were talking until they got to Beomgyu’s desk, when both of them realized the pink box above it.
“Oh my god, I didn’t believe it when you said you had a secret admirer, but it's actually true!”
“Why is it so hard to believe? Actually shut up, let me read what’s written in it.”
Instead of Beomgyu’s post-it there was another post-it, which said:
“I’m scared you won’t like me for a lot of reasons.
1- You don’t even know me;
2- I’m younger than you;
3- My personality is not really the same as in these messages;
4- I’m not sure if you like boys or not;
5- From what I know we’re complete opposites.”
“Come on Beomgyu! Let me see what it says” - Soobin said from behind him- “Shouldn’t you be at your class? The bell has already rang.” - Beomgyu answered - “Oh god you’re right, I gotta go. But don't think I'll forget about this!”.
Beomgyu didn’t know what to think, he never thought that the person behind all these cute cookies could be a boy. He never really thought a boy would be into him. If you knew him for at least a year you’d know he had only ever dated girls, but this guy for some reason seemed so interesting and cute, he really wanted to find out who this was, and the fact that this was a boy didn’t even bother him, it actually just made him more curious about how could this guy be so sweet even though they don’t even know each other.
Beomgyu remembered there was another message inside the box and quickly opened it, totally ignoring the teacher who was already in the classroom. Inside the small box was a cookie cut in the shape of flower, and under it a message, just like always.
“I’m very happy you’ve decided to leave notes for me, it feels very nice to talk to you even if it’s not directly.”
After reading that Beomgyu jus went ahead and started writing his note for today:
“I still don’t believe I wouldn’t like you, the fact that you’re younger than me doesn’t bother me at all. The fact that you’re a guy was unexpected to me, but it doesn’t bother me either. I’ve never been with a guy before, so it was very different to me, and that whole thing about us being totally opposites just made me even more curious to get to know you. Please come talk to me tomorrow or at least send me a message.
9xxxx-xx32”
It’s Tuesday, the class is almost over and he’s very disappointed. He did get his cookie today, but there were no messages, and no answers to his note (which was nowhere to be seen when he got to his seat). Only people he already knew talked to him today and he didn’t get any messages from a new number. Did Beomgyu do anything wrong? Did he say something wrong that made the boy upset?
The class has ended and now he’s going to Soobin’s house. They decided it would be nice to just chill and talk after a long time not seeing each other out of school. Soobin didn’t know anything about the last notes he left for the cookie’s guy nor about how it was a guy. Soobin wouldn’t be mad at him because he was a boy, since he would openly talk about his crush who was an older guy who used to go to their school, but he would definitely be very mad that Beomgyu didn’t tell him before.
They got to Soobin’s house and went straight to his room. Soobin threw himself at the bed and Beomgyu sat down on the floor next to the bed.
“Soobin, I gotta tell you something, but you have to promise you won’t tell Kai or anyone at school okay?”
“Okay now you’re scaring me, Beomgyu what happened?”
“Well remember those cookies and that note I wouldn’t let you read? Well basically Friday the message said that they were afraid I would not like them, and I asked why, and Monday they answered with this” - Beomgyu said as he handed Soobin the note.
“Oh my god! You’re telling me your admirer is a guy? You’re straight right? What are you gonna tell him now?”
“Well the thing is… the fact he’s a guy doesn’t make me you know… it doesn’t bother me, I mean, do you get what I mean?”
“So you’re saying you're not straight?”
“Well… I’m not sure, but maybe? I mean I’ve never been this curious about anybody, and even after he said he’s a guy I still hope to see something he sent me at my desk and oh my god I need to know who the hell he is, but now I’ve scared him away.”
“Wait wait what do you mean? Scared him away?”
“I wrote something about how I’ve never been with a guy, but it didn’t bother me that he’s a guy, and told him I really want to know him and asked him to see me at school, or to message me. Today when I got to the classroom the cookie was there but there were no notes or whatsoever, he didn’t message me and he didn’t come talk to me.”
“Well maybe he just needs a little time to think what he’s gonna do, I mean he seems to be shy and to really like you, so maybe he’s uncertain about it all. Don’t worry some time or another he’ll come ‘round and talk to you.”
“ Yeah, I really hope he does”
