When Bakugou comes to the Midoriya house to hang out with Deku, he waits in his room when the nerd goes to wash take snacks from the kitchen. Bakugou hums quietly, scanning the book shelves and walking to and fro when he finds a "Friends diary" notebook, green and flashy on its cover. Typically flashy for a kid who liked heroes and stuff. Flipping through pages, he smiles softly, looking at elementary school handwriting, pages after pages filled with Deku's information, his desires, his favourite heroes and their doodles, analysis and stuff like that.
Finally, he reaches the "My Friends" section and open the first pages. Surprisingly, the information is about him.
'My friend Kacchan is very high! I don't know his height, but he is higher than me! Also he is strong! He likes All Might, just like me!' and some general bits of information that every other extra knew about him.
That was rather cute but Katsuki can't deny that his chest tightens uncomfortably.
Izuku's written all of this marking him as his friend when Katsuki was a shit to him. He turns over the pages.
And again.
And again...
And again..........
And...
Nothing is in there. No other friend mentions, no other quirky lines, nothing.
The pages are blank as if Izuku didn't have any other friends.
That's not possible, right? He must have at least some nerds from IT classes. He had friends!
Did he?
Right?
Oh no.
Oh fuck...
A harsh truth makes Katsuki shudder.
Izuku didn't have friends because of him. He was the one who terrorised his classmates into bullying Deku along with him. He was the one who scared anyone who cane closer to Deku just to kick him later and mock him for not having any friends. He was the one who–
"Kacchan, the tea is ready, let's go down, I'm starving!" Izuku entered his room. Katsuki quickly shuts the diary and hides it behind his back.
"Coming!" he replies, leaving the room. The diary, battered and old, is left behind in its place.

Several months after that, when Izuku's birthday comes and his classmates celebrate the day, Katsuki calls for the birthday boy.
"I have something for you," He says, taking Izuku's hand and leading them both into the kitchen where there are no friends to disturb them. He takes the present out of the box that was on the table and gives it to freckled boy.
"Oh, what's this?"
"Something I should've done for you long time ago."
Izuku raises his brows in confusion, unwrapping the present and looking at it, shocked.
'Friends Diary' is written on the little book, much alike to the original one that Izuku has in his home room.
"Come on, open it."
Izuku looks up at the blonde in cases he sees answers in those ruby eyes, then down again at the book. Biting his lip in excitement, he opens the book, tears gathering in the corner of his eyes when he reads the first line.
'Izuku Midoriya, the greatest hero in class A' is written on the front page.
"Kacchan?"
"Keep going." Katsuki smiles, watching the freckled nerd flipping through pages.
'Height? The little nerd he was the little nerd he is'
'I don't know about his weight but he's hella strong'
'Interests: All Might cuz he's still a nerd'
Izuku chuckles at the small doodle of himself in the corner of the diary. He closes it, looking up at the blond. "Thank you, Kacchan! That's really sweet of you!"
"Oi, don't close the book, it's not over yet!"
Izuku frowns. The next pages were the Friends section, most likely blank because the diary is new, but he opens the book again and, to his surprise, he actually starts crying. 'Katsuki Bakugou' is written in the pages and the profile is fully done, written in Katsuki's handwriting. He also has a little doodle, more likely looking like a dog than a person, but Izuku can't stop reading the information and adoring the effort.
"Go on, there are more."
Izuku flips the pages, more of his classmates written in the diary, and even from other classes and some teachers, everyone writing their part on their own. Doodles and wishes for Izuku, cheers and even spoiled pages.
Izuku can't stop his sobs. "K-k-kacch-," he hiccups, and the next moment he feels warm arms wrapping him in a tight hug.
"Shh, Izuku, it's alright," The blond draws circles on his back, hugging him closer. "Happy Birthday, nerd."
Katsuki leaves a tender kiss on Izuku's cheek, smiling wide. "Do you like the gift?"
"I-I love it! Thank you, Kacchan!" he keeps crying.
"Thought so" Katsuki chuckles and kisses him again.
On the lips this time
