People Watching

Summary:

Just a little thought piece.

It started as a way to describe my anxeity and turned into a character / description.

Notes:

Not sure what this is.

Work Text:

Her soul was like a scale, wildly tipping from side to side. Potential energy stored as a ball of anxeity, sparking raging fires, or destructive tsunamis. She had learnt to balance the sides. It was only rare moments that her internal atmosphere reflected in her stormy grey eyes. Where the cheeky glint turned dangerous.

From the outside she seemed unassuming, walking the cobblestone path with her head held high. Grace lingered in her steps despite her age, lightly weaving her way between the crowd. A soft smile lingered on her lips, tracing well worn lines in her cheeks as she searched for her charge. Her eyes darted quickly from person to person, dismissing them as strangers.

Her face lit up. She’d found who she was looking for. A gangly teen was pulled awkwardly into her arms, long limbs folding to accommodate her smaller form. Embarrassed grin forming on his familiar features, though less worn than hers.

I watch as they pull apart. An invisible string connecting them as they walk in tandem through the crowd, disappearing from my view.

I wonder what it would feel like. To be loved and protected by one so fierce. By someone who feels things as waves, endless and inevitable.

I think about you. And I wonder what it feels like when I ask you to love me.
