"Stop glaring at me already."
Kaede squints. He doesn't recall going to stupid Mashu's room at all. The last thing he remembers is falling asleep in his workshop after finishing up his latest piece... The piece that's been commissioned by the PA Laboratory---the company that recruited Mashu under the condition of having Kaede as the only artist he'll ever work with.
"It's not my fault you won't answer my calls," Mashu says as he's filling Usako's food bowl.
"It (sort)of is," Kaede thinks instead of saying out loud because he doesn't want this conversation to end up turning into a confrontation again (besides, he doesn't want to disturb Usako while she's eating).
Both he and Mashu watch the rabbit eat in silence.
Eventually though, Kaede speaks up: "Did you save my work?"
"Of course I did," Mashu says, not taking his eyes off Usako. "I signed it and even made a back up just in case," he holds up the USB he used to save Kaede's piece.
Kaede nods, and he quietly thanks Mashu(begrudgingly).
It gets quiet between them again and the only sound they can hear is Usako chewing on her food.
"You can keep sleeping," Mashu says from where he's sat across the room. "I know you haven't slept in days... You really need to fix that annoying habit of yours."
Kaede shoots him an annoyed look, but he doesn't sense any venom in Mashu's words... (which is even more infuriating).
He lies down again in the end, "I thought you didn't like it when Artists invaded your space. Why'd you take me to your room?"
Kaede hears him scoff, "I'm not interested in finding out how messy your dorm room is."
"...you bastar---"
"Besides, it's not like I'm against you being here."
...Kaede turns away from Mashu as he pulls the sheets over his head. It's so annoying. So irritating how Mashu's scent on the sheets and pillow is filling his nose and making him sleepy... No, he's just sleepy because he just finished another piece of perception art.
He'll never tell that damn Mashu that he likes his room and how comfortable his bed is. He won't tell Mashu that he likes how warm it is... (Perhaps, it'll be warmer if Mashu lied down with him, but that's a preposterous thought).
And before he drifts off again, he thinks maybe next time he'll pretend to be asleep in his workshop again, so he'll be able to tell if Mashu will carry him all the way back to his room.
