Chapter Text
Miles Morales was loosing consciousness. His body begged against it but Miles would not pass out, not now. His bodies adrenaline was running on fumes, being chased in an unfamiliar futuristic utopia by hundreds of variants of him may of likely contributed to his lack of usual fast reaction times.
Just as he felt another burst of strength suddenly course through him, Miles pushed strongly against his attacker. The man reacted by slamming Miles harshly against the floating transportation they were grasping too.
His mind was whirling just as the air was around them from the speeds they were travelling at. Only a moment ago he was exposed to the real truth of who he was..the wrong Spiderman, the anomaly
Who shouldn’t of been who he was.
It didn’t help he was told this truth by the man who currently held him down, the man that clearly had it out for him now. A clear dent from where Miguel threw him almost reminded Miles of a snow angel you would make in the snow. Or in Miles case, by a man who had such hatred towards you.
Miles struggled against the man’s strong grip, telling him through grunts and bouts of anger to get off him. The man seethed in anger that seemed to way outshine miles own, strangely enough.
“-And all this time, I have been holding it all together!” Miles snapped back into his senses that seemed to be much slower than usual, was he in shock from everything that he had been told, or rather, blamed for?
“Get off me!” Miles shouted back, using his one free hand that wasn’t being crushed by the man’s muscled shoulder to push.
Silenced by the harsh winds but still barely heard, Miles could hear Peter telling Miguel to go easy but the rest of his pleas were unhearable.
As Miles pushed his hand against the man’s Face Miguel leaned in harshly against the Teens shoulder presumably so Miles could hear whatever he was about to say next.
“You don’t belong here.”
Miles eyes widened, and he stilled ever so slightly, before resuming at slapping, pushing and punching his way free. He didn’t want to hear it, he wouldn’t.
“You never did.” He growled the sentence so lowly that it practically vibrated against The teenagers eardrums.
In a fit of anger, Miles quickly head butted the man and pushed against Miguel’s forehead with his own to get his face free of the man’s verbal attacks.
“Let. Me. Gooo!” Miles wriggled and pushed with all his might. Now realising that Miguel leant back from the headbutt, Miles other hand was free. He quickly used both of his hands to resist away from Miguel’s harsh grasp and found his legs to not of been pinned down anymore. Miles bent his legs and propelled his feet against the man’s chest to hopefully shake him off. It only worked momentarily before Miguel grasped back.
Another strange thing happened, in the span of a few moments, Gwen and Peter admitted that they knew Miles was not actually meant to be Spider-Man, that he was not meant to be who he tried so desperately to become. The teen simply couldn’t believe this… these people, who he called friends, never thought to of told him as soon as they found out?!
“That’s why you never came to see me.” Miles almost gave up there, he leant back slightly to try and give him time to process even more information he had been exposed too.
Gwen and Peter looked solemnly down in shame for a moment.
“Miles it’s for your own good!” Gwen sadly started, it looked as though she was finding the whole thing a struggle to convey to him.
“Who decided that?!” Miles shouted back. He leaned forward to say his piece and see what Gwen could possibly say back, but his head was slammed back into the cold metal by Miguel, who still held onto Miles and lingered above him in dithering anger.
“I’m not a kid Gwen!”
That seemed to set Miguel off again, his eyes turned a darker red and it wasn’t until Miles looked up did he see the man’s fangs at such an angle, they were terrifying.
Another slam against the transporter was in store for Miles that only made his new found headache reach more levels of pain.
“That’s exactly what you are-“ Miguel began,
“You’re just a kid!” He growled out making Miles for once lean into the dent instead of escaping from it. He was trying to make as much space between them as he possibly could.
“Who has NO IDEA! WHAT HE’S DOING!” He practically screamed into the teenagers face. Miles found himself shaking slightly as the hold Miguel had on him was becoming more and more constrained.
Miles held his arm out and grabbed O’haras shoulder to push him back again from him, whilst doing so he realised his bio-electric sting charged slightly as he grasped the man.
Before Miles could use more of his power he was thrown back against the ever so painful metal.
“Yeah well, I did lure hundreds of spider people away from your little club house.” Finally his plan was coming into play. It was quick and on the spot when he was firstly restrained in that box that he managed too free himself from with the help of Hobie. He knew he needed to get as far away as he could from HQ to lure everyone else with him. Then he would need a diversion. Well now he had found it.
Miguel huffed out a ‘what?’ Before looking behind and below. There and behold, hundreds of spidermen were following after them.
Again he heard a vague quip from Peter saying something like how he did have something figured out.
“And? I’m about to do this.” Miles grinned as he placed his hand on the man’s shoulder again. Vibrant electricity began to filter through Miguel’s suit making the man widen his eyes.
“Everyone keeps telling me how my story is meant to go…” Miles suddenly said with his face turning much more serious.
“Nah. imma do my own-“
The webslinger was cut short as he saw the man who was just a moment ago panicking now baring his long, sharp fangs and aiming directly for Miles.
The teen grasped harder to the man’s shoulders, praying his electric shock hurried up. But the man suddenly lunged at Miles head and pushed it to the side, getting a better aim at his neck.
Miles shook and shook whilst still holding onto the man, it was nearly at full power, ANY SECOND!”
Huh?
No…no way Miguel just…
Miles eyes shot wider.
A sharp, incredibly painful sensation took over miles senses as Miguel’s fangs sunk deeper and deeper into Miles neck.
“No! Stop!” He demanded, and in that same moment a painful liquid filtered through the man’s fangs into Miles veins which he could practically feel happening.
It was unbearable, Miles felt like Miguel’s fangs were touching his actual bone with how deep he penetrated the skin.
“Miguel stop it!” Gwen and Peter shouted in unison but the man either didn’t hear them or chose to ignore their pleas.
Meanwhile it had been a good twenty seconds and Miguel still had not retracted his fangs from the teens neck. Miles neck felt hot and sore with pain that only got worse as the venom carried on.
“Are you seriously..killing me?” Miles cringed out. He found talking made the pain worse, or maybe it was just harder to do so?
The half Spider finally retracted his fangs out of Miles skin, it was just as painful as it had been going in.
“Not kill.” Was all Miguel huffed out as he wiped Miles blood that he had gotten on his lips away.
“I gave you a higher dosage because it seems you don’t know when to stop.” He practically spat.
Miles ignored the jab.
“Well, it took me longer. But hey! it was a shock to actually get vampired by someone. Definitely not on my list of fun things to try.”
Before Migual could do so much as frown, Miles sent a force off at Miguel that flung the man at full speed away from himself. The teen grinned slightly as he saw the man grasp at the transport below to hold onto.
Gwen found herself smiling at Miles victory.
Miles looked down at his two friends and sighed to himself. He didn’t hate them, of course he didn’t. But he didn’t know if he could even trust them anymore. It felt like a betrayal, being kept from such a secret. But Miles knew when he was out of trouble, he could reflect on what had happened hopefully.
“Goodbye-“ he started.
Something stopped him from carrying on. He tried it again,
“G..good..”
What?
He blinked but it was slow and drowsy.
No that’s not right.
Miles outstretched his arm to see if his whole body was doing this. Damn it was hard to even lift it up past his chest.
“Miles?” Peter frowned.
“Miles are you okay?” Gwen called up to the Teen.
Miles wasn’t paying attention to them anymore. His ears were doing something strange, it sounded like everything was underwater, like his ears were blocked with liquid.
“Wha’s goin..on?” He slurred out. Now not trusting his body to hold on by just his feet, he grasped onto the transport with both of his hands.
“It’s taking longer than it should.” A man suddenly spoke next to the pair of worried spiders.
Peter held maydays ears with his hands as he was getting ready to shout.
“Miguel! What the hell have you done to the kid?”
“Im saving himself from destroying everything he knows!” The man growled back at the pink pajamafied spider.
Instead of engaging with the man, Gwen kept her eyes directed at Miles. She could tell he was freaking out now, and his hands looked like they weren’t sticking to the metal like they should.
“So you really thought the best choice was to inject Venom into his system?!”
“I gave him a non-toxic paralyser.”
“More like forced.” Gwen couldn’t help but interject.
“If I didn’t do that, I would have had to do much worse to get him to stop!” He shot back, pointing an angry finger in the spider-girls direction. She leaned back as his stare bore into her eyes.
Suddenly from above metal creaked causing all three spider people to look up. Miles was falling from where he was grasping onto just a moment ago.
Before Gwen or Peter could react, Miguel was already throwing himself towards the falling teenager and grasped him by the neck of his suit.
“Venoms a bitch…” was all the teen angrily mumbled out before passing out completely.
Miguel soon enough had Miles thrown over his shoulder and began messing with his device on his wrist.
“Miguel hold on a minute-“ Peter started but before he could get the sentence out Miguel propelled himself off the edge and glided himself into the portal he had made himself.
-
Angrily walking into the lab rooms with Miles still unconscious over his shoulder, a small Ai woman suddenly appeared.
“Oh wow, he doesn’t look so great.” She pointed at the passed out teenager hanging on Miguel’s back.
“Not now Lyla.” He bitterly warned whilst placing Miles onto a chair for the time being.
“Sheesh. No need to get your knickers in a twist. So.. how are ya gonna contain him when he can explode through your usual contained measurements?” She asked with a hum, teleporting closer towards the frustrated man.
“That was what I was trying to figure out before you decided to appear.” He answered.
“You really are more pissy than usual..” she sighed to herself, using her finger to tap thoughtfully against the side of her chin.
“Are you going to be useful and help me contain him or keep hurling insults at me?” He stated rather than asked.
She shrugged but began to get different links up to help the man out.
“You know, it would be a start to get his webs off him. Don’t want him swinging away as soon as he wakes up” She suggested whilst still looking through different data.
Miguel thought about it too, but didn’t particularly want to go near the teenager again. He didn’t like using his fangs, it was usually a measurement that had to be used for villains, not other spider people.
Still he knew he did what he did for the greater good. Miles was not thinking properly about the dangers he was about to conflict onto his world. Miguel would not let it happen, not again.
The man walked over to the teenager who still looked deep in sleep. His head slumped back exposing the bite wound that Miguel inflicted.
He needed to clean that up.
But first, his web slingers.
Miguel used his claw to make an incision into the teenagers suit near where the web fluid would be attached to on the wrist. He grasped the mini machines and managed to pry it off Miles suit.
He placed it in a small locked container for safe keeping where miles would likely not find them in incase he managed to get free again. He could have them back after his canon event happened. Besides, there was no point in destroying them..Miguel knew he had already caused enough in Miles eyes.
“So, how long will he be..out for?” Lyla spoke up. she teleported next to miles and leaned closer towards his closed eyes and waved her hand in front of him.
“A while. I made sure of that.” Miguel said, placing his hands on his hips. He wasn’t looking at Miles anymore, instead he headed towards the holographic computer in the room and swiped up using his hand.
“Ah, you upped the usual dosage because of his healing factors right?” She thought aloud, teleporting next to Miguel’s shoulder.
“You know though, you never really know when he could actually wake up. A Spider persons healing factors are prettyyy good and inconsistent.” She reminded the man.
“I know. So why don’t you keep an eye on the kid, yeah?” Miguel suggested with a rather annoyed tone.
Lyla groaned but didn’t disagree.
Now alone enough that he could think for a minute, Miguel looked at the links he had gotten up.
A small file that held Miles information in. Miguel had a file of every single spider person that they knew of, most people knew this and even had access to all the information too. It was usually used to see whose powers and skill levels would work well together went sent on missions. But now, it was going to be used to secure the rogue Spider a few meters away from Miguel.
“That thing he used on me, it was electrical energy.” Miguel muttered to himself.
He tapped on Miles file, even though he knew of most of his powers already.
Miles Gonzalo Morales
Age: 15-16
Powers:
proportionate strength, speed, stamina, durability, reflexes of a spider and spider sense.
Unique powers:
Camouflage
,
Venom Strike
So that was what it was called, a venom strike.
Miguel thought about his encounter with it again. It was definitely electricity based. Miles didn’t use it straight away either, it looked as though he was waiting for it to be fully charged.
Miguel began swiping holograms left and right as he attempted to design something to keep Miles in.
“Found out anything new?” Lyla appeared an hour later, looking at the many designs that Miguel had come up with and deemed incorrect.
“His power is called a venom shock.” Miguel started.
“Kinda like what you have, minus the fangs.” Lyla clicked her fingers in recognition.
“Anyway, kid can charge this electricity and stockpile it to allow huge amounts of electricity to be released at his will.” Miguel explained, holding his forehead slightly.
“Your suit-“ Lyla started.
“Yes. He used my suit to stockpile as it’s made of unstable molecules. That means, if we put him in containment again, he can use the electricity that’s all around it to make it implode.”
“So we need to make something that is completely void of electricity then.” She concluded.
“Exactly. And it needs to keep him inside, nothing flimsy.”
“Eye eye, captain.” She grinned, saluting the disapproving man before teleporting to a separate section of the lab.
“And Lyla?” He turned to face the Ai that began work.
She looked at him with a puzzled stare
“He will be in containment for a few weeks, his canon event will be later than we thought. So, nothing small and cramped.”
Lyla nodded and carried on work.
-
Noise was the first sense that he heard. It sounded muffled and quiet at first, but grew louder as time progressed.
Next was sight, when Miles was able to open his eyes, slow as it was, it was then that he realised he still wasn’t dreaming.
He was awake again, he was asleep? When did he drop off?
Voices began to make sense. Two people, male and Female. They sounded familiar, the women’s voice was talking the most. And only every so often would the low toned voice speak up.
For some reason, Miles couldn’t concentrate on what they were saying until just now.
“-will take longer then we thought.” The voice of someone, he slowly looked over, still unable to move but his eyes. It was a tiny woman…Lyla! So that would mean…
“Keep an eye on him.” Miguel responded.
Shoot!
He was back at HQ! It seemed as though they were in the lab facility’s too.
Miles wanted to curse. But Miguel’s words suddenly reminded Miles that he should be unconscious right now. He quickly closed his eyes and tried to relax.
“Oh he’s fine, your venom really did knock him out.” She hummed whilst making a quick glance at him.
“I didn’t want to do that Lyla.”
“I know. But like you said, you had to.”
Oh yeah, it was Miguel’s fangs that knocked Miles out back on the transport. Just as he thought about it he could still feel the throbbing pain from where the incision happened. Great, his nerves decided to work again.
If he could feel, maybe he could move. He tried slowly to move his pinky up and down. It took a moment but It worked!
They were distracted, he wasn’t bound (for some strange reason) so he could get a head start! He needed to get back home, to his universe. He needed to save his dad!
Miles crept up as slowly as he could until he was sitting up properly. His neck felt stiff from his head lulling on the chair. He ignored his now stiff neck (you would think the dude would at least give him a cushion or something for trying to get his dad to die…damn!)
After sitting up, he knew it was now or never, whilst the two were deep in work he bolted up and ran for it.
Miguel shot his head in the direction that Miles was running in.
“Huh?” Lyla asked, turning her head as she heard a creak from the chair.
Miles turned himself invisible immediately.
He staggered into the door and pushed on it.
Still being invisible, Lyla and Miguel could only see the door shaking, then it began to form dents from Miles obviously barging into it.
“Give it up kid. You didn’t think we would lock the door?” The man’s voice rang behind him.
The third time as Miles ran towards the door to hopefully get it to fling open, a hand grabbed his shoulder strongly.
Miles instantly jolted at the touch and turned back to being visible again. Miles span around to face Miguel. He stared daggers into the man’s eyes which was returned back, but with a slightly calmer expression that irked Miles.
“I need to leave!” Miles finally spoke up loudly, he pointed towards the door to make his point even more distinct.
Miguel, who was still holding firmly onto Miles shoulder sighed at the teenager’s determined stupidity. If he let Miles go, he would also be letting his universe go with him.
“Yeah, we both know that’s not happening.”
Miles starred at the man, and then at his shoulder that Miguel was holding onto. Quickly, the teen stretched his arm out to use his webs to retrieve something hard to whack against his opponents head but then frowned. What happened to his webs? why weren’t they- Miles looked towards his wrists and saw cuts in his suits where his webs once where.
“And I thought my day couldn’t get worse, damn!” The teen huffed frustratedly.
“They’re locked away. You can get them back after-“
“My dad dies right?” Miles spat angrily.
“Don’t sugar coat it Miguel, that’s what you’re basically making me wait out. The demise of my own father!”
Miguel closed his eyes for a moment. Was Miles really about to do this again? Of course he was.
“Would you rather it be your mom too? If you do what you think is right, if you go back now to save one person, everyone will die! EVERYONE!!”
“You don’t know that!”
Miguel’s eyes narrowed.
Miles knew the man was probably thinking about the old world that he had lived in again, about what he had told Miles he had lost there.
But that was only one scenario, there was a possibility it would be different for Miles. How could he not take it?
“I know what you’re thinking man, but it might not be the same for me. I might be able to save everyone- including my Dad! But to do that I have to try-“
“You really want to test that hypothesis huh?” The man scoffed at the stupidity that he was hearing.
He took an angry step towards Miles who didn’t shrink back this time.
“You really want to put your worlds fate in danger for a slither of hope? How selfish can you really be?”
Miles cheeks flushed an angry red as he felt his anger begin to overwhelm him. This
Angered feeling didn’t usually happen with him. Sure he would get frustrated, at times a lot! But, to be called selfish for wanting to help his dad? That had hit a nerve that didn’t usually get hit.
“How dare you-“
“your getting angry with what I said? Do you not realise it yet? Your mom, your family, your friends, the people that you have saved in the past will have been saved for nothing! They will instead be put into graver danger, all because of you!” Miguel jabbed a finger in Miles direction angrily.
“Is that really what you want Miles? Is it?!”
“You-“
Miles felt his mouth go dry.
“You did the same thing.”
“And look where that ended me up!!” The man shot back.
The teen lowered his head.
Miguel wouldn’t listen.
An awkward silence began to fill the room as Miles seemed to not want to talk anymore. Miguel was fine with that, he wanted this conversation to be over as soon as possible too.
“This is for your own good.” The man eventually stated warily.
Miles didn’t answer back, he only shook his head to let it be known he disagreed.
Did he really disagree though? He wasn’t sure. No matter what though, his father did not deserve to die. And he wouldn’t let him die when nothing could even happen.
Miguel stared down at the teen whose eyes were still looking at the floor solemnly.
He suppressed a sigh as he set his watch to a certain location.
“Go through the portal kid.”
“Only if it’s takin’ me home.” The teen angrily replied
“Stop it Miles. Go through the portal before I have to make you.”
Miles looked up and gave Miguel a piercing frown before he slowly walked over to the portal.
“…For real though, I’m not gunna walk into this portal and drop from the sky am I?”
“Miles..”
“I’m going man! Damn!”
-
It turned out that Miles was sent into a large room that was void of any technology.
The room was heavy on wood as most of the furniture was made of it including the walls around him. It gave Miles a false sense of hope as when he punched what he presumed was walls made from wood to escape, instead it was some sort of powerful metal that had an extra layer behind it.
Only a crack was left behind from the first layer of wood but the metal stayed strong.
“Ouch! ouch.-” he held onto his fist with his other hand and jumped around the room in pain.
After the pain in his knuckle finally subsided he eventually went back to looking in the new space.
A double bed was in the middle of the room, shades of dark greens covered bedding and pillows that reminded Miles of oak leaves.
There was two side tables next to each side of the bed, they were dark brown like the bed frame. Miles inspected what was on the table only to find a lamp and an empty frame propped up.
“Homely.” He murmured to himself before carrying on his search for anything possibly useful.
The only other thing really worth looking in was a big chest of drawers that had a few towels inside.
Miles looked inside the last draw, not expecting much but he did manage to find a small notebook with a pen lodged inside.
There didn’t seem to be any drawings until he scanned to the last page. All it had was a small doodle of two stick figures. A tall male looking stick figure and a smaller girl looking stick figure.
The teen looked at the drawing a little longer before placing the objects he found back where he found it
The only thing left to search was the two doors that this room presented itself with.
One was probably to the outside world which Miles found was the door to the left of the bed as it would not budge open. It seemed to be a sliding door that was heavy duty and security proof. Great..
Miles stumbled over to the only other door on the other side of the room. He found a bathroom. It was mostly white, there was a shower, a sink and a toilet.
Nothing was of much use except the toilet cleaner. Hey, a weapon was a Weapon. Miles took it with him.
He headed over to the mirror which was above the sink next. He found himself looking into the reflection to find a very beat up Miles. It looked like a black eye was forming alongside many bruises. His suit was also torn along his shoulder and wrists.
Miles craned his neck to get a better look at the still sore bite mark.
“Yep still there.” He sighed.
It looked kind of bad, a massive purple bruise had formed around the bite mark. Dried up blood and small traces of new blood streaks were found around the gaping holes in his neck too.
Knowing nothing could be done, Miles shrugged it off.
Before leaving Miles side glanced the toilet roll that was the only other object in the room.
“Wow toilet paper? I am being spoilt.” He quipped before turning the light off and exiting the room.
Miles decided to wait until someone came to him, when they did? He would use the toilet cleaner and..urm..knock them out with it. Once they were knocked out, he would take their teleportation device and get home.
He was standing, ready to fight. But..then an hour later when nobody had come he started to shuffle around a bit. 4 hours later and he was now sat on the bed, weapon still in hand. 6 hours? He was incredibly bored. 8? His eyes drooped.
“Is nobody seriously gunna come?!” He groaned loudly into one of the beds pillows.
10 hours and he was succumbing to sleep. Fifteen minutes later and he was out.
-
- ten hours earlier -
“Uhh. Where did you just send him?” Lyla spoke up.
“The protected room next to mine.”
“You mean what was gunna be her room?”
“It was the most protected room, and with me making a few adjustments digitally here, he won’t be able to leave it.”
“Ahh, quick thinkin’ Miguel.” She winked before disappearing completely.
The man, now alone, stood whilst looking at his failed prototypes on the screen.
That room was the most logical solution for now.
