"Ow -shit…" he hissed under his breath as the fresh grits started to slowly cool as it dripped off his arm. He ignored the pain in his arm as he went to find a mop.
_______
-ere is no more errors in this docu- the led of his pencil pen broke, causing him to let out an irritated sigh as he pressed down the eraser a few times before continuing to write. -ment. I have read through everything and have corrected what needed to be changed. He stopped writing and turned in his paper.
"Thank you, Sova. You can start on your poem assignment, if you have finished that you can lay your head down." His teacher told him as he sat back down at his desk.
"Ok." He put his head down for the rest of the period.
___________
_ Due Friday _
"That's tomorrow….. and I can't do this in class because I have my nursing course, in 5 minutes…." He pinched the bridge of his nose looking at the paper that was just handed to him and his classmates.
"We haven't even gone over this Chapter of the book let alone the first 5 sections…" He had a migraine at this point and left for the bus when the bell rang.
____________
"Yesterday I received some bad feedback about you all's break yesterday." The teacher said as he and three other students sat down at their desks.
None of them said anything.
"Care to explain?" The teacher asked.
"Came back late." He muttered just loud enough for it to be heard.
"Not you, I was told you were the one who came back." The teacher informed him, he nodded in response.
"Let's just go over your presentations."
__________
"S4? Meaning I'm in charge of Logistics." His migraine was getting worse and he could barely think straight.
"Yes, you're the only one responsible to do it, and the inspection is in the first week of December."
"Couldn't one of the Seniors do it?" His voice was even but it was a plea all the same.
"There are only 2 seniors and they are the F1, and F2. And as I have said, you are the most responsible one here."
"... It's.. fine, Cornell." He sighed, ignoring the pounding pain in his head and the blurriness of his vision.
_________
"Here's the code to the quiz, put it in and get to work."
"Sova…."
"... Sova…."
"Sova."
"...Sova."
It wasn't even a full 3 minutes and people were already calling his name.
"What?"
"What's the answer to number 1?"
"Aren't you a senior? I'm younger than you, shouldn't you know this?" He was already tired.
"Ok I see, don't come asking me for help."
"Didn't plan to." He sighed for the fiftieth time that day, biting down on his thumb ignoring the metallic taste that surrounded his canines.
"Ok, meet me after school then."
"I have no intention of fighting you."
_________
"Sova work out the problem on the board."
He stood up and wrote ' x = -3'.
"Where did you get that from? I don't see no x by itself nor does the problem have anything about a negative three." The teacher asked.
"That's the answer to the equation." He said, hiding his irritation.
"How do you know that? I didn't see you work out the problem."
"It's basic algebra, I shouldn't need to work it out."
"How do I know you didn't cheat off of someone else or use that photo-math that you children are always using."
"My phone is at the front of the classroom, and how would I cheat if I'm the only person who has finished any of their work?" He asked.
"You need to work the problems out, step by step, or I will have to count your answers as wrong because I have no proof of your work."
"I'm not redoing one hundred and ten equations just to do six to eight steps to get an answer that I already know." He was holding himself back from lashing out.
"Then I will have to count this as a Zero." The teacher said, writing his grade down.
"Go ahead, I'm leaving." He said.
"If you walk out that door, I will write you up. That's three days at home." The teacher threatened.
"I. Don't. Care." He grabbed his bag and left the room, slamming the door behind him.
His nose scrunched up after the door closed, he may be angry but he wouldn't be the one to point out to the old lady that she smelled like bithe fresh and old piss.
He scratched at his right wrist as he walked, ignoring the pain and how blood covered his fingernails as they tore into the previously burnt flesh.
He made his way down the hall before knocking on the gym door.
"Sova, what are you doing down here?" It wasn't the gym teacher but the theater teacher who kept his class in the gym, the gym teacher had quit the year prior.
He didn't say anything and just looked up at the teacher.
"Go ahead, you know where to sit." The teacher told him.
He nodded and made his way behind the stage that was built in, going to the one table that was behind the dark scene-curtains, sitting there until the final bell rang to go home.
________
After stepping through the door he quickly tossed his bag onto the couch, making his way to the pantry to put on a load of laundry before returning to the kitchen to clean the dishes, before he finally made it to his room, stripping down and laying in bed making sure that his bed was blocked off by it's curtains.
Just as he was falling asleep his curtain was open and a head poked into his bed.
"Can I use your laptop?" His little brother asked.
"No. 1. Don't ever open my curtain. 2. Who gave you permission to enter my room? And 3. Get out!" His patience was running out as he forced tears of frustration to stay down.
After his little brother left he reclosed his curtains, only for them to be opened 5 seconds after.
"Momma wants you." It was his younger brother once again.
"Get out!" He had to force himself out of bed and only placed on an oversized shirt that hung off his shoulder but still was long enough to cover his boxers, he left his room walking to the other side of the house to his parents room.
"Hmmm?" He opened the door letting out a questioning hum.
"Let your brother use your laptop."
"No." He didn't even bat an eye as he answered.
"What did I just say?"
"No. He broke his phone, cracked the screen of my Chromebook, and put a virus on my old laptop. He is not touching my computer." He held himself from growling out every word.
"You either let him use it or you won't even own one anymore."
"Urg!" He really did growl that time, before his muscles relaxed.
"Fine." Was all he said, voice void of it's previous anger as he walked back to his room, ignoring the sticky, hot, red liquid that left both his eyes and nose.
"Here." He handed his younger brother his blue touchscreen laptop. "If you break it, I will kill you." He meant what he said.
"Your nose is bleeding." His younger brother pointed out.
"Get out." He pushed his brother out the room, closing the door.
He tried to go to sleep but couldn't get comfortable, so he decided to start up his PlayStation and open Genshin Impact.
_______
He had just finished a 4 hour quest and was just about to report to the designated npc to complete it when the game froze and a black box appeared on the screen.
[Network connection Error]
He let out a slightly irritated grunt, closed the application and reopened it, expecting it to save where it was but it opened to the cutscene that was at the beginning of the exact quest he just finished. He exited back to the title screen but didn't log back in.
His face went blank, tears of frustration bubbled In his eyes, mixing with red giving them a swirly red marble effect.
He pulled at his hair, and grit his teeth, the bloody tears streamed down his face.
"Why can't anything go right?! Why is it only me? I'm tired, I don't even think I'll last these last two years before I can leave…." He was hyperventilating, an asthma attack starting to flare up causing him to cough.
Sandy- brownish- blonde hair stuck to his sweaty forehead, while being gripped by thin fingers that slowly ripped strands out.
Purple eyes dilated, holding a slightly crazed look as the owner coughed and choked trying to breath.
He had forced himself to smile for the first time in years.
He deserved this pain for being such a burden to everyone around him. He was just an ungrateful brat like his grandmother told him all those years ago.
He let out a few chuckles, making it even harder to breathe.
Something furry brushes against his side.
It was the lynx he had rescued years ago and ended up being able to legally keep afterwards.
'I wouldn't mind if you ate my body after this, Sarge. No one should have to lay their eyes on my disgusting body.'
The lynx licked tears off his cheek, letting out a confused and worried low mewl.
Black dots clouded his vision before he finally passed out from lack of oxygen.
The door on his screen opened on its own bathing the room in light.
