Chapter Text
“A thermometer shed?! You’re telling me someone is keeping a special-grade cursed object in a place like this?”
“Ha ha! Recovering it should be no problem then!” The taunting voice from the phone said as the boy with spiky black hair walked closer to the shed. He opened the door and examined the inside.
“There’s nothing in here…” The boy stated.
“Huh?” The static voice questioned.
“The shed is empty.” The boy said more forcefully.
“For real? That’s hilarious!”
“I’m going to punch you.” He muttered.
“No going home until it’s recovered, okay.” Now he really wanted to punch him.

“Are you sure?” Itadori Yuji asked, looking over at his upperclassmen. Setsuko and Iguchi both nod. “Well then here we go!”
“Spirits spirits…” All three of them yelled in unison, “What animal is the school council president weaker then!?” Their fingers started to move across the board. C. A. R. P. They all stared at each other momentarily before breaking out in laughter. But their laughter was cut short by the door swinging open.
“Occult Research Club!” Oh look it’s the School Council President himself.
“Hey, so you really are Mr. Worm!” Yuji said as Setsuko giggled in the back.
“I’m going to kill you…” He muttered. “Your club didn’t summit its activity records. We don’t have space for a club like that here!” He glasses further up his face trying to regain his composure. “Starting today this room will be used for the girls' track team.”
“I wouldn’t mess with our club members if I were you,” Yuji said as Setsuko slammed a book on the table. Yuji and Iguchi gained an evil smile on their faces.
Setsuko then explained that everyone was getting sick when they went near the rugby field because a person was buried there 30 years ago.
“Wow.” The School Council President said. “That’s the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard in my life. You do realize that the most likely reason was ticks.” Setsuko looked away in embarrassment.
“So what!” Yuji yelled. “As the Occult Research Club, we’re hypothesizing about the occult, which is a perfectly reasonable club activity!”
“You can’t be serious! The biggest issue here is that Itadori Yuji is a part of the track team, not the Occult Research Club. So this club does not have the minimum number of people.”
“Yuji!” Setsuko growled as she and Iguchi glared at the boy.
“I swear I put Occult Research Club on the application,” he muttered.
“That's because I rewrote it!” All four of them looked over to the door to see the track coach, Coach Takag. “Itadori, we need you if we’re to take over the country.”
“Enough, I already said that I’m not joining!” Yuji points his finger at him.
“No can do kid. However, I’m not a monster so let’s make this far, on the field. If I lose I will give up on you, but if I win…”
“Say no more I accepted.” Yuji interrupted looking fiercely at him.
As they were setting up the area for Shot Put, Yuji couldn’t help but notice that people were starting to form in groups on the sideline. Why would they find this so interesting?
Coach Takag picked up the ball and threw it with all of his might. “Fourteen meters!” yelled the kid that Coach Takag made be the ref of the game. A cocky grin grew on his face as he heard the distance.
“Whoa, Coach Takag still got it.” Murmures from the side broke out. “What are you going to do Itadori?” Yuji looked over at his fellow club members and saw them talking to one another.
The ref drops the ball into his hand. That is when Yuji realizes something, he has no idea how he is supposed to throw it. “I’m not too sure how to throw this thing, Can I just throw it how I want?”
“Well, it doesn’t matter for this throw.” Coach Takag tells him. Yuji looks at the ball for a moment before he throws it pitcher-style.
“All right!’ Yuji yelled and threw the ball 30 meters and it probably would have gone farther if it hadn’t crashed into the soccer goal. “I won! All right Coach I gotta go.” He said, patting Coach Takag's shoulder before walking away.
He walked over to Setsuko and Iguchi who both had shocked faces. “Itadori, you don’t have to feel obligated to stay in this club,” Setsuko said.
“Yeah!” Iguchi said, shock still painted on his face. “The sports club would probably be a better fit.”
Yuji scratched the back of his neck. “I got my reasons.” He let out an awkward laugh. “Besides you guys can’t even go to a hunted place without me. Even though you guys like scary stuff. ”
Iguchi smiled slightly at that. “Well if that's the case then would you like to join us in unwrapping that creepy object you found?”
“Oh yeah, we're going to do it at the school tonight!” Setsuko added.
“Well, maybe…” Yuji looked back towards the school and saw the clock. “Oh shoot, it’s already half past four! Sorry guys but I have to go.”
As Yuji started to run he nearly ran into a guy with black spiky hair. He’ll apologize to him later.

“Yuji, I have something to tell you.” Yuji’s Grandpa said from his hospital bed. “It’s about your parents…”
“Don’t care.” Yuji interrupted. “Can you stop trying to act cool, it’s getting annoying.”
“A man wants to go out in style! Why can’t you understand that.” His grandpa yelled. “You should be out with your friends, not stuck in a sad place like this.” Yuji looks away from him after he says that.
“It’s fine Grandpa…”
“No, it’s not! If you don’t start putting some effort into your life you are going to end up just like me! A sad old man with no friends.”
“You got me, Grandpa.” Yuji pointed out.
“Ah yes, the pity of my grandson is exactly what I want when I die.” Yuji’s grandpa muttered. “Get out and go hang out with your friends!”
“Well, it’s too bad for you, because I’m not leaving,” Yuji said as he glared at the old man. His grandpa stared right back at him as a wicked grin grew on his face. His hand then slammed on the panic button on the side of his bed.
“You’re getting out of here whether you like it or not.” Yuji's jaw dropped as he said it.
“Those buttons are for emergencies!” Yuji yelled.
“Get out!”
“But…”
“GET OUT!”
Yuji stood there as tears started forming on the side of his eyes. He stomped over to the door and left. Once he finally leaves the hospital tears start to fall down his cheeks.
“That stubborn old man,” Yuji muttered. He knows he can’t go home without crying. So with no other option, he pulls out his phone and calls Iguchi.
“What's up Itadori?” Iguchi questioned as soon as he answered the phone.
“Is it too late to join you and Setsuko tonight?”
“No!” Iguchi exclaimed. “We’re in the club room. We’ll start as soon as you get here.”
“Ok, see you there,” Yuji said before he hung up. He wipes away the tears as he forces a smile on his face.
