Chapter Text
Spring had come, with it being another sunny spring day, and Kento knew today would be a busy day in the bakery; people out and about on the street since morning. He looked briefly at the traffic on the street in front of his shop as he had already started the production of the bread and pastries they would be selling and as he waited for them to bake, he was doing a small check-in in the bakery’s inventory.
Kento had already talked to both Ino and Yuuji, his employees, offering to pay a little bit extra of their usual hourly pay to come a little bit earlier and help him with the rush hour that he felt was coming, both of them were more than ready, so at that moment it only made sense to do the things at the back of the shop while the boys organized the front.
Sometimes Kento became amazed at how he was spot on his previsions. The bakery was open from lunchtime to dinnertime and how both boys and himself, were exhausted by the time the second rush hour rolled around, he knew once again he prevented being alone in the madness that his bakery had become.
Looking at the number of orders they had on the counter and the many times he had to go to the back and make more and more batches of bread and pastries, Kento decided to give a bonus to the boys besides their tip jar, which was already overflowing thanks to the charisma of both boys.
The rush hour continued and then some more until the customers started to dwindle and the three of them could finally breathe. The bakery closed at 8 PM and by 7 PM Kento asked the boys to start cleaning at the back, as he would be attending the scarce orders at the front and counting up the money for the day.
When Kento thought he would finally close for the day, already starting to count the money on the register, the little bell above the door rang, a twinkling sound amid the silent bakery. He looked up and found a pair of bright blue eyes looking at him.
“Oh, sorry… I didn’t know the bakery was closing.” The man said with a big smile, even though it looked a little bit forced, hand running through his white hair.
“Good night. We’re still open,” Kento replied, closing the register and quickly brushing his apron after, “I was just organizing the register… What would you like to order?”
The man now smiled broader, a sincere smile on his face as his eyes traveled through the pastries still on the counter.
“I want two of those chocolate pastries,” The man continued looking at the board with the drinks written, “One caramel frappé,” He paused, arm propped up on the register balcony, flirty smile in place as he looked straight at Kento’s eyes, “and your number, sweet cheeks.”
Kento let out a scoff, arching a brow. “Yeah, right…” He said while showing the other man the total of his purchase.
The other man let out a suffering sigh, “it was worth a try.” The man said as he took his black card and paid for his purchase, and went to sit on the closest table to the counter.
Kento could feel the eyes of the other man looking at him, questioning and interested, but he didn’t bother to pay any mind, keeping his head focused on fixing the order if what he hoped was the last customer of the day. As Kento took the tray to the tall man, the door of the kitchen opened, and Yuuji and Ino came out of it, talking softly to each other, and looked for their boss, probably going to ask to help clean the front, when a look of surprise crossed Yuuji’s face, his smile widening.
“Gojo-sensei!” Yuuji exclaimed, already making his way to them with Ino in town, looking curiously at the tall, white-haired man. Even Kento looked curiously between the two of them.
“Yuuji! It’s been years since I last saw you!” The smile on the man, Gojo-sensei as Yuuji called him, looked sincere and his blue eyes shined with excitement when he saw the youngster.
“Ah, yes… I'm still in contact with Megumi but college life is chaotic so we don’t see each other very often…” Yuuji said, looking crestfallen about the matter but a moment later his energetic persona was back, he pointed towards Ino and then Kento. “This is Ino-senpai, my coworker, and this is Nanami-san, my boss and owner of the bakery.” The man offered a quick smile to Ino and a smile and appraising look towards Kento.
“This is Gojo-sensei, he was one of my high school teachers!” Yuuji exclaimed, giving a thumbs up to his coworkers. He sat in front of his old sensei and Kento and Ino excused themselves, letting the youngest chat with the man while they finished whatever business to close the bakery, and all that Kento could feel was Gojo’s eyes lingering on him.
Kento went to close the register, and without realizing he quickly exchanged a look with Gojo. Gojo briefly looked towards his watch and seeing it was a little bit over 8 PM, he sighed, looking softly at Yuuji who asked for half of his chocolate pastry and had chocolate all over his mouth.
“Well, it looks like it’s my time to go,” The man said, sighing, and looking at Yuuji’s sad face and pouty lips, Gojo smiled wide and messed up the pink hair in front of him, “but don’t worry! I’ll be back to see you again, Yuuji! The pastries here are from heaven!”
Gojo quickly helped to clean the table, eyes trying to meet Kento’s again as he took his tray to the balcony. He gave a smile to Kento, the same flirty smile from before, and looked into his eyes.
“I’ll be back again, sweet Nanamin!” He exclaimed to a dumbfounded Kento with the use of the nicknames, smiling at the look on the other’s face and the scoff that followed, he then got out of the bakery, giving a last parting wave to the serious owner and his two workers.
Kento sighed exasperated, looking at a curious Ino and an animated Yuuji, who was chatting excitedly about how his ‘Gojo-sensei had liked Nanamin-san’. He turned towards the register again, feeling that something was unfolding in front of him.
