Chapter 1: Just another day

Chapter Text

Tommy sat in front of the mirror— posture straight and perfect, like always— brushing his now pale yellow hair (once gold but with time as if the snow that covers the kingdom has melted into the stands of hair, it lost it's once bright color) into a neat and presentable low bun, tying it with a thin but long blue ribbon.

His crystal blue eyes (once as blue as a cloudless sky, now faded and foggy looking) scan his reflection for flaws, not seeing any he gets up to change.

Only to realizes that he's drifted into a memory when he finds himself in a familiar, but at the same time not, arms once again. A happy memory that is Tommy's favorite.

He's small and young, three or four at most, being held by a woman with long curly chocolate colored hair. Similar to one of the children running around in front of her. But unlike the child she has gorgeous black wings resting on her back.

Tommy feels a rush of sadness as he tries to remember what type of bird they are but is unsuccessful. Other details of the memory are also hard to make out. Such as if Wilbur was wearing his over sized crown (which now fits him) as he played or if he had left it inside that day. Or if the older boy he was playing with had red eyes or dark brown eyes. And Tommy didn't even bother trying to remember what exact clothes they all were wearing that day, knowing all he was going to do was give himself a headache.

Tommy snapped out of his drifting when he reached the crystal white meeting room doors. Now fully dressed and presentable, only stoping to checking his posture one more time before turning to the two knights waiting for him to give the command to open the doors.

With a quick dip of his head to doors were opened without question. The two knights, a small diamond  hybrid and a tall demon hybrid, bowed slightly before Tommy walked into the room.

As he entered he heard a greeting from the end of the long wood table.

"Thomas, thank you for joining us."
