Work Text:

Their battles so far have been tough to say the least. They’d skid by with minor cuts and scrapes, no chunks taken out of their flesh, nothing profusely bleeding, yet. Just more psychos running at them with pitchforks and… is that dynamite? Oh shit, where did that even come from? It blew up just about 10 feet away from them. Thankfully, they didn’t die from the blast, but Luis had the wind knocked out of him. Leon rushed over to him as soon as he shot down the last of the ganados.

“Hey, don’t die on me now,” Leon’s voice trembled for unknown reasons. He tried shaking him awake, no good. Yelling his name didn’t do much either. He kept mumbling to himself, trying not to think of the worst. Soon enough Luis stirred, holding his hand to his head. Leon sighed deeply seeing his partner alive.

Luis had a cut on his cheek, it was bleeding, like a lot, how was it even bleeding? Leon widened his gaze when he saw blood all over his face. It seemed Luis hadn’t even noticed, sitting up and looking at Leon all confused. “Wait, don’t move, you’re bleeding.”

“I am? Mierda, I am!” Luis was used to seeing his own blood at this point. But why did this feel different? He looked at his crimson stained fingers, confused, wanting to understand why he felt this way. He leaned his body against Leon and luckily he didn’t protest. “I’m gonna be fine, Sancho, it’s just a small cut. I’ll live…”

“It’s not just a small cut. A whole chunk is missing from your cheek,” Leon shifted their position so Luis’ head laid in his lap. He hauled up his attaché case and pulled out various medical supplies he’s found along his mission. A few bandages and some first aid spray should do the trick. Leon told him to hold onto something ‘cause the spray stung like a motherfucker. Luis winced upon feeling that familiar menthol sting. “How did this even happen? I thought you knew to be careful.”

“Well, when there’s a bunch of zombies running at you from all angles, you can’t tell which ones you can avoid and which you can’t as safely. I guess one of them hit me with a pitchfork and I, somehow, didn’t see it until now. How’s that for an explanation, eh?” Luis smirked while looking into Leon’s eyes. They were fixated on gluing back together his cheek. It felt weird for Luis to have someone else take care of him, especially when it’s someone he just met, and in a precarious position.

Leon softly grunted in response, seemingly trying to focus on patching up Luis. But he just tried to keep his eyes off the ones prying into him. This felt too intimate for Leon’s liking. Why did he have to care about people and trust them so quickly? A blush crept up his face as he applied the appropriate bandage to the other’s cheek. “There, you’re all better now,” Leon huffed out in a sarcastic tone.

“What? Not gonna kiss it to make it feel better?” Luis’ normal smirk was deformed from the stuff sticking to face. He sat up and lightly nudged Leon with his elbow. Of course Luis was only joking, just wanting to see the reaction from the tough, American agent. He didn’t anticipate him actually taking up that offer.

Leon scooted closer to him and planted a small kiss next to the bandage, just against the corner of Luis’ mouth. The blood around his lips didn’t bother Leon, he’s tasted worse. Luis, on the other hand, felt like he was about to pass out. He thought it was the blood loss, and well, he wouldn’t be wrong. But the sudden move Leon made on him had Luis’ heart skip a beat. He just stared at Leon dumbfounded.

Another chaste kiss to his lips made Luis certain that he was gonna pass out. Leon held onto his non-injured cheek with his less bloody hand and looked into his eyes. A perfect storm was brewing inside them, wanting more, but knowing there wasn’t time considering their situation.

“C’mon, my fine knight, we’ve got a princess to save.”
