Swordie Wank… because it's a day that ends in y
First report, be gentle, etc., etc.
So, when people think Swordie Wank, it's somehow connected to Red Leather, Study Group, or both. (I'm obligated to say that not all Genesis Rhapsodos fans are natural born wankers, of course.) However! I am here to present a rarer vintage of Swordie Drama: Silver Elite Wank!
(Full disclosure that I'm a member of Silver Elite, but I'm not involved, I promise.)
Tinfoil hat theories aside, it's common knowledge that Sephiroth doesn't do social media. Silver Elite more than makes up for it by being eternally online. It's noisy, it's everywhere, it's inevitable. However! One brave soul stands as a sworn shield against the unwashed heathens who would dare sully the name of all pure, true Sephiroth fans: Silver Elite mod dracamo!
You may remember Dracamo from such wanks as Angeal Hewley Fans Have (Daddy) Issues, The Stage Version of Loveless is Crap, Save Shampoo for the Rest of Us, and I Dance Before the Flaming Wreck of Red Leather. Dracamo has an opinion which must be shared: Sephiroth fandom is corrupt! Sephiroth fans are not being fans in the way that Dracamo likes! Sephiroth would not like how his fan club is being run even though he's never interacted with his online fandom! (ETA: flocked! Screenshots here)
Teal deer: No one should be physically attracted to Sephiroth, and anyone who is (So, like, anyone who's attracted to men...) is a bad, bad fan.
The replies begin with agreement, but mswhitemoon begins to "uh, actually…" And we're off!
Dracamo does make a good point about their blog being a private space in which to share personal opinions, but Read More and f-lock were always there, my dude! Don't clog my fandom's feed with your drama without protection for my poor little feeble heart!
storm_flight reminds us that fandom is a democracy, but Dracamo is like "no! I am the law!"
But then, how the turntables: shivamateria, another SE mod, enters the fray with context! So apparently Dracamo is butthurt because their wishes for gatekeeping and thinking of the ickle children did not fly with the rest of the inner circle other mods.
Schadenfreude was had by all when Shivamateria announces they're going to push for removing Dracamo's mod status. Remember, folks: Never ever keep a fandom from its smut!
Sock puppets Other fans rally around Dracamo for this miscarriage of justice and the lurkers support them in email.
And then eyes_in_the_dark, a Shinra employee, says their uncle who works in Soldier said they know Sephiroth wouldn't give a fuck about whatever his fans are doing.
Dracamo is all "no u" because Eyes is in Red Leather. Because of course all Swordie Drama is contractually required to talk shit about RL in some way.
