Chapter Text
Jin's lip twitched, clearly not in the best mood. The six members of the popular group and coven sat on the couches of their penthouse dorm, the owner of HYBE Labels standing up, arms crossed, with furrowed brows and an annoyed expression that could only be rivaled by that of Jins.
Now, exactly how they got there was most likely an explanation Bang Si-hyuk had already heard over and over again. "They didn't properly manage us. They couldn't handle us. They just weren't what we were looking for." The explanations were starting to get very similar as to why BTS could not keep a manager for longer than a month. Their most recent comeback, Wings, had their manager Kai quit after an argument about Jimin's hair color. The nagging, rude behavior, and side-eyeing of the members were finally too much for the poor werewolf.
Bang Si-hyuk tried everything. Every kind of species, hybrid, werewolf, vampire, would either quit in frustration, sleep with one of the members, or worse, accidentally break a foot. They needed to be managed, but with the heavy schedules, constant style, hair changes, and interviews, Bang Si-hyuk could not keep up. He understood the coven felt intruded on by the idea of some random person living and managing them, but they couldn't go off on their own, not yet, at least.
Most popular boy band in the world, the most famous coven in the world. With the way they were scaring off managers eventually, rumors would spread about the behavior they showed toward anyone who tried to manage them. They were kind to fans, the majority of staff, and stylists, and more than kind to each other, but for some reason, managers were always wrong.
Bang Si-hyuk has tried nearly everything, with the exception of a human. The company owner wasn't stupid; to put a human in the lion's den was too cruel even for him. They'd chew a human up and spit them out before the first day was over, and he wasn't willing to risk it.
"That manager was one of the worst." The leader, Namjoon, spoke up. Namjoon was relaxed and leaned back in his seat with his arms crossed. He wasn't ever rude to managers, more just harsh on them, critiquing how they managed BTS in a way they couldn't necessarily complain to Bang Si-hyuk about. "Oh, really?" The company owner challenged, standing tall as he asked.
"Yes, he was incredibly shaky. I assume he was just a fan. He wanted to be involved in dinners and tried to make us spend time with him. Bang Si-hyuk, I think it's time we just manage ourselves, we aren't stupid." They aren't stupid, he's correct, but they are vampires. Vampires in this world are not exactly known for being likable people. He needs somebody to keep an eye on their image, and letting them run wild isn't right just yet.
"That isn't happening," the nestmate's faces were all clearly disappointed, he should've expected as much. "I will be finding you a new manager, and this time, there will be consequences if I find out you scared them away. That you fed on them, or god forbid you to sleep with them again.
"That was only two times," Taehyung said, holding up two fingers. "Like that made it any better, Taehyung." The Hybe CEO scoffed, pinching the bridge of his nose, developing a headache from these out-of-control vampires. In his time managing groups, he had never seen one so resistant to something like a manager. They knew what they were getting into as trainees.
When he picked the members, he didn't expect the six to bond so closely. He watched them go from acquaintances to friends, to lovers, to forming a coven themselves. When it was announced to the world, it wasn't a bad reaction, with fans showing outpourings of love for the newly formed coven. Around that time was when they began to reject managers; in this penthouse was a room dedicated for a manager to live in, to follow the members closely. He remembered once a manager quitting just after two days due to the 'loud noise' at night.
He thought once that maybe if he brought in a girl to manage them, it might be more comfortable for them. It made it worse, she became best friends with them and ended up quitting cause she felt bad forcing them to do things they didn't want to. He also had a manager quit because of the amount of time they had to stay up. To not only go with the members to events but also answer calls, go to modeling gigs, plan their schedules, and make sure the members have enough food in the penthouse were all things the manager was responsible for.
He enjoyed the quiet of the members for once, enjoying the vampire's realization that Bang Si-hyuk would not relent to their unwavering determination to cause him migraines. "What will it be this time, boy or girl, werewolf, vampire, maybe a hybrid again, their heats were fun." Yoongi wondered aloud, causing the members to snicker. Bang Si-hyuk huffed, "Whatever it is, I will make sure they are strict and harsh on you."
He heard his pager going off; they must've finally found someone willing to do the strenuous work. "I will be back, I expect you all to leave the house by eleven a.m. so I can tour the new manager." He could hear the members protest from behind him, ignoring it as best he could; he would not let up anytime soon if it was up to him.

"A human!?" Bang Si-hyuk smacked the portfolio of the boy back onto the table. "You think a human is going to be the next best option? I might as well fire you all." The round table of staff were all shaking their heads, one speaking up.
"He really is the best Bang Si-hyuk. Have you met this kid?" One girl panicked; he could not believe that this was the best they could come up with. "Met the kid? I don't need to, let's stick a human in a penthouse full of vampires and see how fast that human cracks like an egg."
"Thats the thing, Bang Si-hyuk, this human works with vampires closely, he was in college to study supernaturals." That was their best defense? The Hybe owner threw his hands in the air with a long, loud, exasperated sigh. He wanted everyone in this room to sense his frustration; they all should know by now that humans were off the table.
"That doesn't make it any better. He's human; they would make him miserable. Just the power of vampires can be overwhelming for them. Why would I put him near powerful old ones? "Jin would be so offended if he heard you call him old," one of the staff piped out, causing the CEO to roll his eyes.
"Thats the thing, he's been around vampires plenty, he was also a trainee for SM at one point. He may know more than any manager we've had before. He applied for this job himself, knowing they were vampires.
Now that caught Bang Si-hyuk's attention, not many people in the idol world apply to be the BTS manager, knowing how awful it could be. "He applied himself?" The staff nodded fast, wanting to keep their job for as long as possible.
"Apparently, he was close with the idol group GOT7, and when he said he needed a job, they sent him this one." The staff member slid the paper with more information to Bang Si-hyuk, who looked over it carefully. "What kind of friends are they, so suggest he work with BTS? They know them, so why?" The staff member shrugged.
"Maybe they think Jeon Jungkook can handle it." That had to be a load of bull. Bang Si-hyuk couldn't believe anybody was on board with this idea. "When we interviewed him, he said he would be unrelentingly strict with the members and make sure they worked efficiently. He seemed serious."
It didn't matter, he thought to himself. When he would hire a werewolf or fellow vampire, it was to match their ability to stay up, work, and go on and on for hours. A human needs sleep, a human is quicker to emotion, he couldn't imagine this boy lasting a day. "Do you have a picture of him? If he was an SM trainee at some point, he must have had headshots."
One of the female staff shook her head, "No, but I saw his face, he definitely looks like he would be accepted by SM." He wondered if she thought that by saying that, it would make things better; he could already imagine how the group would just metaphorically eat this boy alive. No matter how stern and serious he could possibly be. He made that mistake once with a cat-hybrid. Four days later, the sweet thing was caught with Taehyung and Jimin and was subsequently fired on the spot for inappropriate behavior with the idols.
That wasn't even the first time.
"He would crack in a day, week tops." Bang Si-hyuk stated matter-of-factly. The staff member stood up, clearly not okay with the way this was going. "Sir, I'm serious, I've never seen somebody so stern walk through those doors. He's going to be absolutely perfect, I can feel it. He's talented, graduated from college, he may be a human, but he can be what we are looking for."
"Why are you so determined to hire this boy?" The CEO asked almost defensive in his words. His hands were gripping the table, knuckles almost white at this point. "I just have a good feeling, you have never let me pick the manager, and maybe if you did, we wouldn't be here."
He furrowed his eyebrows at the attack on him. Maybe he should give her a chance, simply to prove her wrong. "Fine, then I will hire the boy," the girl relaxed in her seat, leaning back with a sharp breath. "Under the condition, if it doesn't work, I fire you, and anybody else involved with picking him." That made the meeting room start talking in a frenzy, not being able to hear what anyone was saying distinctly. "If you have that much faith in him, you'll trust him with your job."
The girl leaned back, her face racked with nerves. Would she agree to those terms? Bang Si-hyuk doubted it. He knew he wasn't right about any of the managers before, but neither was anyone else. He knew this time he'd pick somebody who could take the vampires, maybe he'd search for a fellow vampire, maybe one as old as they were. The last time he brought in a vampire, it was a two-year-old vampire, only recently getting out of being a fledgling to his nest. He actually got along with somebody, Jimin, who was also a recently turned vampire, a fledgling to the coven.
Jimin was the only human picked to join BTS and had a difficult time keeping up with his fellow members. Bang Si-hyuk, however, knew he was perfect for the group; his soft, gentle voice was just what they needed, having a tone like no other. BTS quickly took the shortest member as their sweetheart, treating him so gently that it shocked Bang Si-hyuk that they could treat Jimin so sweetly, but not a single manager well. He had even, a few times, intentionally hired cute managers, hoping that BTS or even just Jin would just have a sweet spot for them. It never worked.
Taehyung and Jimin are the youngest members in age. Taehyung had only been turned a year before starting his training at HYBE and stood out to Bang Si-hyuk for his deep voice. After a lengthy discussion with Bang Si-hyuk and fellow staff, they thought it was okay for Jimin to be turned into a vampire. BTS took a break, and Jimin came back as a fledgling with a new hairstyle, and no fan seemed to let out a complaint. The internet went wild with support, wondering who was the one to turn Jimin in the first place, as the process was incredibly complicated. This had happened only a year after BTS announced themselves as a coven, a relationship. It was bound to happen with how sweet they were to each other during training.
It made Bang Si-hyuk wonder why they were so insistent on running out poor managers. They did have a bad one a few times, but the others were just sweet people or those looking for a job working with idols. He could ponder hundreds of reasons why, but that would take too much time out of his busy day.
"I agree, if he quits, or gets fired, I will also get fired." The shock hit Bang Si-hyuk's face like a pack of stones. He did not expect her to put her trust in this boy so completely and wholeheartedly; it made him wonder what words were exchanged in the interview. He wondered, when he toured the boy tomorrow, if he would get the same feeling as she did. He doubted it; he didn't necessarily have good feelings about any of the past managers. The one who lasted a month, he had a decent feeling about, but that was it.
He didn't expect much from this 'Jungkook.' The boy would probably crumble at one flash from Kim Namjoon's fangs; he knew that for a fact. Yet this girl was still willing to bet her job, her high-paying job, for this random human boy. Maybe he was threatening her; he couldn't imagine that to be the case, but what else would make her stake so much on something like a human?
One thing he knew for sure was that Jeon Jungkook would not last a minute in the company of BTS.
