Blood-stained petals

Summary:

“He had just accepted it at this point. He was going to die.” Hanahaki disease Kokichi. Because nothing says unrequited live more than choking on flower petals stained with blood.

This is so old and so cringe. Help.

Chapter Text

Kokichi POV

He woke up to his lungs burning. He couldn’t tell the time, but it was still dark out. He wasn’t worried about the burning feeling, sure it was unpleasant but he didn’t seem to be dying so it was fine, right?

He walked into the bathroom anyway, just to make sure nothing was visibly wrong. Something was visibly wrong. He was pale, but like paler than usual. He brushed it off, it was early after all, there was probably nothing wrong. That was before he coughed up a fucking flower petal.

The fuck? He never ate a flower. So why was there a blood stained flower petal in his hand. The petal was purple and far inner area was yellow. Probably an iris. That was likely a cause for concern.

The metallic taste of blood was overwhelming.

He walked back into his room and searched up “what does coughing up flower petals mean” he expected loads of results about “eating flowers” and stuff like that.

What he didn’t expect was around 100 results about “Hanahaki disease”.

The fuck is hanahaki disease?

He clicked on one of the many links.

At least he got an answer even if it was in no way a good one. Basically from what he could gather was: he was going to die before the age of 20 from suffocating from fucking flowers in his lungs, caused by unrequited love. Great. Just fucking Perfect.

He couldn’t do anything about it though. There were only two cures, the love being returned, that was literally never going to happen, or some surgery, however it would remove the feelings towards the person entirely and in general the idea of being around him without feeling anything was… unpleasant to say the least.

So he just went back to sleep.
