To say how much your life has changed into the last few months would be the understatement of the damn century. Going from being a quiet shy high schooler with no social life, to having an entire group of misfit friends who brought out your confidence. And it was all thanks to him. Ren Amamiya. Current leader of the Phantom Thieves and your loving boyfriend.
How you met him was one of pure coincidence. He had been going to confront Kamoshida with Sakamato and Mishima when you bumped into each other. Quite literally in fact. You had rounded a corner the same time as them and ran straight into his chest. You would have fallen back too ,had Ren not wrapped his arm around your back to steady you.
“Sorry” he had said before he raced off quickly to catch up to Sakamato.
“Its ok” you had quietly whispered back, watching as they disappeared down the hall and out of sight. He had come back later in the day. Seeking you out to properly apologise to you. Ren had been so sweet about it to, asking if you were ok and that he hadn’t accidentally hurt you. You had reassured him you were perfectly fine however he insisted that he treat you to a coffee at Leblanc to which you happily took him up on.
Find out about the Metaverse was also on pure coincidence. You had watched the two boys and Takamaki sneak into a side alleyway beside the school and decided to quietly check out what was going on. Only to be warped into another flipping dimension with the added member of the talking (not cat) Morgana. To be fair though the group had also been extremely surprised upon seeing you enter with them with Ann and Morgana scolding Ryuji within an inch of his life for not paying attention to his surroundings.
Ren wanted to take you back to reality where you’d be safe but hearing what they planned to do you argued with him. Wanting to help end Kamoshida’s horrible reign against the student body. You had been scared at some point during the raid on the castle. But everyone made sure you stayed safe and in return you’d help patch them up with the small medkit you always kept with you.
Your persona had awakened during the boss fight when Ann had run into trouble. Not wanting to see your new friend get hurt it had awakened. And boy was it painful. Morgana reassured you that it was only painful the first time and that every time from now would be fine. You with the help from Ren was able to defeat Kamoshida’s shadow and make him atone. However after the whole ordeal you practically collapsed to the ground in exhaustion. Ren helped carry you out of momentose and that’s when your feeling first started blossoming.
That was months ago now and you both were in a relationship with each other. Almost practically inseparable. You’d mostly stay over at his place at Leblanc. Not that Sojior minded much anyways. The Phantom thieves were the hype of everyone’s attention, including the police and you had gotten more members to the group that included Yusuke, Haru, Makoto and Futaba. Nothing could have been better.

The moment you woke up this morning, you knew that something wasn’t entirely right. The knee that you severely sprained a few years ago was aching quite profusely, causing you to wince as you bend it a few times. Great, just what you needed on a day when the group had plans to go training in Momentose this afternoon. Never the less you got up and ready for school, knowing today was going to be very long.
As you were leaving the house your phone buzzed in your bag. Pulling it out you see a message from Ren. Reading through the message you can’t help but smile at his little pet name he gave to you.
“Hey Treasure. Are you on your way to school yet.”
“Just shut my front door. So kinda” you text back. Knowing what he was about to ask you.
“Did you want me to come get you and walk to school together” Ren always asks you on the days where you stay home for the night if you want to walk to school together. You always say yes.
“Always” you reply. Ren replied that he’d be there soon so you sat down on the front steps and waited. He wouldn’t be to long, only living about 10 minutes away. At least it gave you an opportunity to give your agitated knee a quick break. The part already throbbing and the day had only just started.
Before you knew it Ren had arrived at your house, being the gentleman he was, took your hand in his as you began the journey to school. It was uneventful as always with a few students having their usual gossip sessions about rumours going around school.
Hearing a couple of whispers about the Phantom Thieves. You smirk slightly as you leaned into Ren. The journey to school was short, a few train transfers and a walk to campus. On your way to class you crossed paths with the other members of your group in the main hall.
“Yo, whats up Ren, Yn” Ryuji shouts as he races over, Ann, Makoto and Haru not far behind
“Morning everyone” You greet them as they follow with pleasantries back
“We still planning on going you know where this afternoon” The blonde half whispers, causing Ann to wack him upside the head. Ryuji gave a small shout as he rubs the sore part.
“Could you be any louder Ryuji, it’s honestly a miracle we haven’t been found out yet you loud mouth” Ann sneered back.
“It wasn’t even that loud” he mutters back.
“In any case, are our plans still going ahead” Makoto asks.
“They are. Meet in the usual place after school. Yusuke and Futaba are meeting us there” Ren replies before the bell gives a loud ring.
“ALRIGHT, students should already be in class you six. Get moving” a teacher yells from down the hall.
“Ok. See you guys then” you shout as you and Ryuji race to your class.
The first half of the day was long and boring as you went over material that were going to be in the mid terms soon. Ryuji had fallen asleep again, earning him a scalding from the teacher. You honestly couldn’t wait for lunch to get here. Checking your phone for what lesson you have to end the day, silently cursing to yours when you saw what it was.
Gym.
Great, like you’d want to strain your already sore knee with more physical exercise. The lunch bell goes off and to move to stand from your seat when a sharp jolt of pain through your leg had you halt as you intake a sharp breath. Yep. That definitely hurt more than it was supposed to.
“Hey Yn. You ok” Ryuji calls from across the classroom. Pushing through the pain you smile back and say your fine. Knowing damn well if Ryuji caught on to the injured state, he would most certainly tell your boyfriend, who would probably would sideline you from the mission or completely cancel it all together. And you’d feel horrible for doing that. Especially when multiple members desperately needed that training.
You walk together with Ryuji to the roof where everyone had started hanging for lunch. You arrived to see everyone already there tucking into lunch so you sat down beside Ren to do the same. You lean into his side, breathing in his cologne. His arms comes around to hold you closer as he lays his head on yours.
“How was classes” he asks. Absent-mindedly listening in on the others conversations.
“Boring as usual. The teacher almost pegged a chalk piece at Ryuji’s head though.” You smile at him. Ren chuckled back as he takes a bit of food.
“What about you” you follow his question.
“About the same.” He replied back before both your attention is drawn to Morgana and Ryuji fighting yet again. Ren shakes his head before going back to lean on you. You spent the rest of lunch like that, in each others arms, before the bell rang for Gym. Sighing heavily knowing this was going to be a very long class. You reluctantly stood up said your goodbyes to the others and pecking Ren on the cheek before making your way to Class.

Gym class sucked. Immensely.
You half hobbled out of the change rooms, a permanent wince plastered on your face. You inspect your knee. Seeing how swollen it had gotten after the strenuous activity you were forced to do. It made you think how the hell you were supposed to keep this a secret from Ren. Sighing, you dig through your bag to find some painkillers in hopes of helping ease the ache it was giving you. Plastering a brave face you step out towards the front gate where the others were waiting
“We ready for this training mission Phantom Thieves” Morgana smirks at the group.
“Yusuke’s gonna pick up Futaba and help her over to the meeting spot. The rest of us are gonna meet them there” Ren states as he motions for the group to begin moving. Gently taking your hand in his as he trails behind the other with you on tow.
The walk towards the train station was mostly quiet. Well as quiet as you can get with Ryuji around. Everyone quietly talking about what happened during school and all that. Your mind however was more focus on the constant pain that had now begin consistently throbbing.
“Yn, you ok” Ren whispered to you. Damn it. He had taken notice. That boy was to smart for his own good.
“Yea I’m fine” you reply back softly. Ren didn’t looked convinced in the slightest but dropped the subject.
You arrived quickly at the train station and from there entered Momentose. Your persona outfit being donned as well as everyone else’s. Joker took the lead as Morgana Transformed into the van. Everyone piled aboard and you sat in your usual spot up the back. You tried to act as casual as normal as but the pain was getting significantly worse.
The fighting made keeping your injured knee under wraps a lot harder but being more of a healer than a fighter you more stuck to the back, only fighting when needing to defend yourself or the others and you thought you were going well. Until it didn’t.
The shadow was a lot stronger than what anyone thought. Probably several levels higher than the majority of the group, probably even stronger than Joker. Any attacks that anyone used didn’t seem to have any effect on it. And that wasn’t good un the slightest. The Shadows attacks were nothing to laugh at either. Heavy hits that almost knocked out multiple people meant you were constantly moving and having to heal your fellow members up.
“Whats the deal with this guy” Skull yelled in frustration over to your right.
“Whatever it is, it’s strong. I don’t know how much longer you guys are going to be able to last” Oracle spoke next.
“We cant just leave it. It could turn dangerous” Panther then replied. You observed the group. Everyone has beginning to run low in steam including Joker.
“I think a tactical retreat is in order Phantom Thieves” Morgana states. You shift slighting on your legs. A horribly sharp pain rockets through your leg as you flinch. Only just able to conceal a wince of pain.
“C/N, you alright” Queen asks you. Dammit, she must have noticed you flinch.
“I’m Ok” you reply back. Not noticing Joker quick stare towards you. Joker half turns to the group, about to let out his plans.
“We pull out one last strike with everything we have. It should give us enough time to retreat to a higher up level to regroup and reassess. Are we ready” Joker states as the group replies.
Joker gives the mark and everyone throws everything they have at the shadow. The beast is pushed back and knocked out but everyone knows it won’t be for long. This was your chance to get away with everyone’s safety intact. The Shadow wouldn’t follow you to the upper levels.
“Now’s your chance. Everyone needs to leave. Now!” Oracle gave the signal. And everyone turned around and started running towards the elevator to the higher levels as the Shadow begins to awaken. You ran more towards the back of the group. Finally relieved to be leaving. That was until your knee finally gave out on you.
The constant pushing you have putting on the joint sent such a painful spike through it. Meaning there was no way in hell you’d be able to put any more weight on it. And with the Shadow now fully awake and the gang metres ahead of you. You were screwed. You screamed in pain as you fell to your hands and knees. Only causing more pain to the appendage as tears filled the corners of your eyes. The group rapidly turned and many screamed in fear at seeing you on the ground.
“C/N LOOK OUT” Someone screamed as you turned to see the Shadow looming right in front of you. You quickly try to shuffle backwards was it quickly approached you.
“HANG ON WE’RE COMING” Ryuji screamed. Multiple rapid footsteps approaching. But they weren’t quick enough as the Shadow lifted an arm to attack.
“PERSONA!” The Shadows attacks on you was blocked by another Persona. One that belongs to Ren. While the two engaged in battle. Ren dived underneath, quickly scooping you into his arms as he races towards the rest of the group. Who had their Personas ready encase they needed to back Ren up.
“We’re leaving. Now. Let’s get moving” Rens words were final as everyone races up to leave Momentose. You held onto Ren tightly, hiding yourself in his neck.
“Its ok Yn. I’ve got you” his sweet words full your ears. Upon reaching the surface, everyone found a somewhat secluded area, exhaustion edged into everyone’s features. Ren places you down on a bench as the group crowds around you.
“Where are you hurt” Ren asks gently. His eyes filled with worry.
“Its my knee. Its an old injury from years ago. It’s been hurting for a little while now” you whisper back a reply. You whimper slightly as gentle hands carefully roll up for pants leg, slowly revealing the very swollen joint underneath. Several gasps were heard from around the group.
“How does an old injury come back so badly” Makoto states like a concern parent.
“Yea not even my leg got that bad after it was broken” Ryuji says after.
“I don’t know. It happened a few years back. It usually only gets like this when it’s starts getting colder” you reply. Taking in a sharp breath as Ren fixes your pants.
“Everyone head home for now and get some rest. I’m taking Yn home to help her injury.” Ren tells the group who immediately agree and begin going on there separate ways. Once everyone was out of sight, Ren bent down in front of you. Instructing you to get on his back.
“There’s no way I’m letting you put pressure on that leg for the entire way back. I’ll carry you.” You began blushing like mad but agreed. Doubting you’d be able to walk back anyways.
The walk back as silent. Your head resting on his shoulder as his gentle walking began lulling you into a short slumber. In fact you missed most of the walk back and it wasn’t until you arrived back Leblanc that Ren woke you up. Sleepily opening your eyes as Sojior looked at you both confused. A blush creeps on your face as you hide your face away.
Your were set on the edge of the bed and your boyfriend disappeared for a second only for him to come back with an icepack. You set yourself in a comfortable position before Ren places a pillow underneath your knee and puts the icepack on top. You could immediately feel the relief. Ren snuggled in next to you and the room turns quiet again for a few minutes.
“Why didn’t you tell me”
You knew this question was coming. But that didn’t mean you had an answer for it yet. You sigh
“Didn’t want to let the team down or let them worry.” You reply. It was a stupid reply. This time the black haired male sighed.
“Your safety is my too priority. Not just as the leader of the Phantom thrives. But as your boyfriend as well. Please don’t hide this from me next time. I can’t lose you Yn” he says as he snuggles into you.
“I wont. Promise. You big softy.”
