Work Text:
Kojiro calls out a half-hearted “We're closed!“ at the sound of the doorbell chiming. It's more a greeting than anything else because while the restaurant may be closed for business right now it will always be open for Kaoru.
“It doesn't look closed,“ Kaoru points out as he's taking off his jacket and scarf, hanging them up by the door before taking a seat at their usual table where Kojiro had already set up glasses and chopsticks. He had also lit a candle, for extra warmth of course and not to be disgustingly romantic.
“How do you know,“ he asks teasingly, “Can you even see anything with your glasses all fogged up?“
“Aren't you funny,“ Kaoru says drily as he's taking a seat and wiping his glasses. “A candle? Really?“
Kojiro just laughs because he doesn't know what to say to that. It was a stupid idea, in retrospect.
He's staring at the bottle of wine he had prepared but decides against it and gets some water for tea boiling instead.
“I made carbonara.“
“Should we open some wine then,“ Kaoru asks with the hint of a smile on his face at Kojiro making his favorite food.
“Yeah, we should!“
