Work Text:
Never let it be said that Sun Lord Dante isn’t a man of action.
This claim is firmly evidenced by the fact that, upon hearing the very first reports of corrupted creatures and unstable essence in the desert, he immediately dropped everything and set out on an investigation.
It is now two days into said investigation, and nothing has been discovered.
Dante is beyond frustrated. Were the reports false alarms after all? But the few animals that his small party had encountered along the way did show signs of an unstable essence source nearby. So what could it possibly be…?
Marching through the blistering sands, the Sun Lord suddenly sees a dark form in the distance. It’s small, just barely a speck on the horizon. But it’s definitely unusual, so Dante heads in its direction, hoping to finally gain some answers.
As he gets closer, the form begins to take on a more familiar shape. That of a person, lying on their side. At this realization, Dante picks up the pace to rush to the fallen figure. No matter whether friend or foe, he will face them head-on.
He’s about 20 yards away when he notices a glint of light- something shining around the area where the figure’s neck should be. He speeds up even more, and when he gets even closer he recognizes them. It’s not someone he’s had much interaction with, but he at least remembers their name.
“Garu?”
No answer comes from the yokai. He is completely unconscious. Dante kneels down and feels for a pulse. He’s alive, but definitely not well.
Dante quickly scans the perimeter to ensure that there are no threats lying in wait, and upon confirming that fact, scoops Garu up into his arms and turns back towards camp.
When he arrives, he quickly brings the limp form into his own personal tent, and calls for a fresh water skin and some medicine to be brought to him.
Garu is laid against silken pillows. Dante sits on the ground next to him, observing the sleeping wolf for any signs of danger as he gently dabs his heated skin with a cool cloth. Dante is much more used to causing injuries than healing them; he has dedicated medics for that. But he figures that the young wolf would rather awaken to a familiar face than an unknown one.
After a few minutes, Garu’s nose begins to twitch. He takes in his surroundings by scent before sight, and knows exactly who is sitting beside him before he even opens his eyes. Said eyes open, look towards the face of his savior, and widen with joy.
“Dante!” he chirps. “I’m so glad to-“ he cuts himself off with a sudden series of harsh coughs, having highly underestimated how dry his throat is.
“Don’t speak, fool,” Dante mutters. He brings the water skin to Garu’s face. “Here. Drink first, then we’ll discuss what happened.”
Garu sits up and grabs the water skin. Instead of bringing it to his lips, he shoves his mouth down to its opening and squeezes it. The water spurts out like a fountain, and he eagerly laps it up with his tongue.
“Not like that!” Dante chides, grabbing it back so as to limit the amount of water wasted. “Drink it like a normal. person.”
“Oh…okay…” Garu says, throat still scratchy. He wipes stray water droplets from his mouth with the back of his hand, and takes the water skin back from Dante. This time, he gingerly brings it to his lips, and turns his head upwards to chug the water as it flows forth.
Dante watches as he gulps down the liquid. A stray droplet escapes his lips and rolls over his chin, down the column of his throat, slowly climbing over his Adam’s apple before rolling the rest of the way down to his collarbone.
Dante coughs and averts his eyes, hoping the heat can account for the blush on his face. Focus, damn it. Someone who was foolish enough to nearly get themselves killed by dehydration shouldn’t be sexy.
Garu finishes all the water, but sticks out his eager tongue to catch any remaining drops that may cling to the container. He licks up and down the opening, and finishes by licking around his own lips, missing another drop or two that escape down his throat and onto his chest.
The fog in Dante’s head only worsens. What is wrong with him? It must be that he hasn’t had his essence regulated for over a month, now. Kingly duties have kept him busy. Yes, surely that’s it. Why else would his body be reacting in this manner?
“Thank you,” Garu says, already sounding much better than before.
“What were you doing in the desert?” Dante immediately gets to the point.
Garu’s wolf ears flatten to his head in a show of embarrassment, as his tail wraps around his waist to settle in his lap. He must not have enough energy to keep his (admittedly adorable- no, what am I thinking?!) yokai features hidden.
“I…I just wanted to help Master…” he sheepishly admits.
“By perishing in the heat of the desert?” Dante asks dryly.
“No!” Garu protests. “Master was talking about all his duties as Grand Sorcerer…and how the Fire Altar was due for a check-up, but he was really busy with the Water Altar because of some sort of problem, and he felt really bad that he couldn’t be in both places at once, so…I…I thought I would come and try to check on the Fire Altar myself…you know, just to give him one less thing to do!”
Dante sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose. It’s true: Eiden hasn’t made time to visit Solaria for quite a while. And the very reports of unusual essence that Dante had come out here to investigate in the first place could very likely be a result of the Fire Altar needing maintenance. He had been sloppy. He had become too complacent- relying on that arrogant sorcerer instead of taking matters into his own hands. This was nobody’s fault but his own.
“And you thought coming out here all by yourself was the way to do that?”
“Well- I was thinking of asking someone for help, but Karu insisted we could do it on our own, that we were strong enough…”
Of course; it was the prideful one’s idea to go it alone.
“Idiot! Do you not realize that you would have died had I not discovered you?!”
Garu’s ears flatten back even more as he looks away sheepishly.
Dante huffs. For a being who is very likely centuries older than the Sun Lord himself, the wolf carries himself with the temperament of a child.
“Be grateful for your life.” Dante says sternly. “Do not forget this lesson.”
“I won’t!” Garu promises, gripping his tail (in a rather endearing way).
“Good.” Dante says. He looks the yokai up and down. “How are you feeling now?”
“Hmmm…” Garu thinks. “Much better, but…I still feel pretty weak. Like I’m all out of energy. I don’t know if I’d be able to walk if I tried.”
He looks up at Dante with puppy dog eyes that pierce him straight through the heart. The dry air in the tent suddenly becomes thick.
Dante gulps. His body is already reacting to the situation. Garu’s isn’t faring much better. Both of their respective essence levels are going haywire, just from the tense situation and the close proximity.
“Do…you…” Dante nearly loses his train of thought. He shakes his head out in an attempt to clear it- but to no avail. “I mean, a-are you…can I…”
Before he knows it, a pair of wet lips are on his.
The kiss is clumsy, and lasts for far too little time, but it still knocks the wind out of Dante. When Garu pulls back, he blinks his eyes open slowly. Looking at the Sun Lord’s face, he seems to realize what he’s done.
“O-oh! Sun Lord Dante, I- uh- I’m sorry, I should have as- mmpphh!!!”
Before he can finish his apology, Dante grabs his face and pulls him back into another kiss. Dante tilts his head to the side for a better angle, and when Garu opens his mouth in invitation, he wastes no time plunging in with his own tongue.
Kissing isn’t something he does with Eiden too often, so he isn’t necessarily good at it. The same goes for Garu. Between the two of them, the resulting kiss is messy, awkward, and full of clacking teeth. But it doesn’t matter; it just felt like the right thing to do in the moment.
After a while of the least dignified kissing in the world, the two lose their balance. Garu falls backwards onto the pillows, and Dante follows him. Dante’s next kiss lands, by accident, on Garu’s jaw instead of his lips. However, he decides to run with the mistake, and continues kissing down the yokai’s jaw, down to that tantalizing neck he had been so enamored with before.
Garu’s little whines are music to Dante’s ears. Eiden is never this reactive with him. Almost like he’s trying to hold back his sounds just to make Dante feel inferior. The bastard. Garu, on the other hand, is honest. Dante feels he could get used to honest. Dante’s kisses reach Garu’s chest, and that’s when Garu stops him.
“W-wait,” he says, breathless for an entirely different reason than before.
Dante sits up, ready to ask what’s wrong, when Garu answers the question by turning over onto his hands and knees. He brings his chest down to the pillows and juts his ass out and up behind him. He turns his head to look at Dante with the most submissive expression he’s ever witnessed.
“Like this,” he whimpers, and god damn if the sight and sound of him doesn’t go straight to Dante’s cock.
Dante pulls Garu’s shorts down, and takes in the view of his smooth, round behind. His tail, protruding from the base of his spine just above his asscrack, waves back and forth in anticipation.
In curiosity, Dante grabs a hold of the tail, and Garu’s reaction is something straight out of an erotic performance. He moans, loudly, and closes his eyes in bliss.
He is the perfect picture of submission, and something about having such complete power over him is doing wonders for Dante’s own arousal. He wonders if he can’t get that ever-difficult sorcerer to behave like this for him someday. It would be magnificent, having him at his complete mercy, begging to be filled and-
Garu whines and wiggles his butt. Right. Best to focus on what’s real right now, rather than a fantasy for later.
Dante takes two fingers and feels the pucker of Garu’s rim. It’s already glistening with slick- a product of yokai anatomy, or clan member anatomy, or a mix of both? He gently pushes the tip of his middle finger in, and Garu shoves his ass back to suck it in further.
“Please,” the puppy begs, and it’s oh so beautiful to hear. “Please. I’m ready. I need it.”
Oh, fuck yes. The begging is making Dante even harder than he was before, and it’s hard to hold back. He shoves two fingers in, and Garu moans. He really is fairly loose already. Dante doesn’t understand it, but he doesn’t need to. All he needs to do is breed this beautiful hole in front of him.
Woah, where did that thought come from?
No time to ponder that right now. Time to fuck.
He pulls his fingers out and shoves his cock in, in one strong thrust. Garu keens, and his face relaxes into a blissed-out smile, tongue hanging limply from his mouth.
Dante pulls back out, and thrusts in again, no less hard than before. He does this a couple more times, before falling into a steadier rhythm.
Garu moans on each thrust, his ears flattening back against his head- this time not in embarrassment, but in utter pleasure. His tail wags frantically back and forth, and without thinking, Dante grabs it, and uses the leverage to sink even deeper into the wolf.
Garu howls in ecstasy. Dante groans. The wolf features are something he could get used to, as well. He recalls Eiden having mentioned that the kitsune gave him ears and a tail with magic once, and wonders if he will ever get the opportunity to see it for himself.
Garu’s moans become more frequent and Dante’s rhythm only picks up speed. Garu is crying tears of pleasure as he cries out: “Please, inside!”
Dante falters, and after a few more deep, untimed thrusts, he is emptying his balls into the yokai with an elongated groan.
Garu chokes on a sob as the sensation triggers his own orgasm, cumming all over the plush blankets below him.
The two take a moment to catch their breath. It isn’t until his dick has gone completely soft that Dante pulls out, watching the flood of semen spill from the other’s anus.
His expensive blanket is ruined, but it’s a price he’s willing to pay.
He feels refreshed. He didn’t realize just how badly he was in need of essence stabilization, and now that he’s had it, he feels ten times lighter.
Judging by the look on Garu’s face, he feels the same. His complexion has returned to a far more normal hue than it was before.
Judging by the expansion and contraction of Garu’s chest, he seems to have fallen asleep, as well. With his ass still stuck in the air. Better than falling limply into the puddle of his own cum, Dante supposes. Dante takes a cloth and cleans up the mess, both on the blanket and on Garu’s backside. He grumbles softly about having to do all the cleanup himself, but he can’t be too mad. Not when his bedmate is looking so utterly adorable in his post-coital sleep.
Dante isn’t much of a cuddler, but he’s earned a rest after single-handedly saving the wolf’s life. He lays back, adjacent to Garu, with his head resting on an unused pillow. He closes his eyes, and is just about to drift off into some semblance of slumber, when…
“Oi! What’s the meaning of this?!”
Oh, great. The prideful one.
