A Reckless Nights Misgivings

Summary:

A small stick, roughly as long as his pointer finger, seeming so innocent and unsuspecting in his hold. But it wasn't. It really wasn't.

Not when the tip was dyed a deep blue.

One single reckless, hormone driven night is the catalyst for all the unfortunate events that follow.

A deep blue that seemed to be mocking him, laughing as his stupidity and lack of foresight.

Perhaps it was. It sure seemed possible.

Especially when that blue meant one thing and one thing only.

He, Xingqiu, second son of the Feiyun Commernce Guild, was pregnant.

In which one reckless, hormone driven night is the catalyst for all the unfortunate events that follow.

Chapter Text

Xingqiu was completely and utterly, undeniably and unfortunately, doomed.

It wasn't like him to be so pessimistic, however he couldn't help the less then savoury thoughts creeping into his. Especially given his.. current predicament.

He doesn't even know how he ended up where he was—actually, that was a lie. He knew exactly how he ended up where he was. But even so, he didn't understand it!

This had to be some cruel trick of fate, surely. Some nasty prank Celestia was playing on him for kicks. Maybe he had upset an adeptus, and had been cursed as a result.

Honestly, Xingqiu would much prefer one of those to the truth.

He could snicker if it were a trick he fell for, he could laugh if it were a prank, and he could pay his respects to whatever Adeptus he offended if he were cursed.

But this wasn't one of his light novels he spent hours reading, or his own stories he'd pen when he grew inspired enough to.

He really wished it was. But it wasn't.

And not even someone with as vivid an imagination of himself could fool himself with his own delusions for too long.

Not when the proof was right infront of his face, clutched tightly in his shaking hands as he stared at it with wide eyes.

A small stick, roughly as long as his pointer finger, seeming so innocent and unsuspecting in his hold. But it wasn't. It really wasn't.

Not when the tip was dyed a deep blue.

Pregnant.

He originally brought the pregnancy test on a whim—he had been feeling unusually unwell lately, throwing up what he ate at dinner hours prior in the mornings for the last week or so.

At first he suspected food poisoning, but for good poisoning to last more then a day or so and still have him throwing up a week later seemed to far fetched.

But even so, he had been prepared to just ignore it—roll with the punches, as some would say.

But then..

He missed his monthly cycle.

Xingqiu had always kept a close eye on his cycle, always estimating when it would arrive and for how long—and never had his calculations been wrong, at least not after the first few. It always occurred during his estimated time frame.

And yes, he didn't have particular heavy blood flow, and he knew it wasn't really uncommon for cycles to occur late on the rare occasion.. it had never happened to him before.

His immediate thought was that he was sick, and something was delaying it. Stress, perhaps? He knew that could happen.

But.. then he remembered something.

A few weeks prior to him missing his cycle, he and Chongyun had...

Without proper precautions...

Xingqiu has never rushed out of the estate and to Bubu Pharmacy quicker in his life.

He didn't think it were possible, it had to be something else, however.. it couldn't hurt to check, right? It was just an unwelcome paranoia. Once he got a test and it came back negative, he'd laugh at his foolishness and then go on to figure out what was actually wrong with him.

But when the first test came back as positive and not negative..

He hadn't wanted to believe it, at first. He had thought the stuipd little stick had been lying, or that he had read the instructions on how to use it wrong.

But he had since brought several more from Bubu pharmacy—in disguse, of course—and each and every one came back positive. That disgusting, horrifying, damning blue kept appearing.

He wanted to cry.

He wanted to scream.

He wanted to laugh at the sheer absurdity of the situation.

He and Chongyun had never been more stuipd!

Normally, they were always so careful with their protection! Xingqiu would take contraceptives after each of their unions—Chongyun purchasing them, since Xingqiu couldn't risk his parents finding out he was sleeping with someone to begin with—and Chongyun would always wear a condom. Without fail!

That's.. how it normally was, at least.

But the last time the two had met up and gotten.. touchy.. it had been sudden.

It wasn't like their usual, planned sessions. It had been purely in the moment, driven by lust and instinct and attraction and hormones—they were teenagers! It had been bound to happen, right?

But as a result, they hadn't had anything on them. Xingqiu, no birth control to take afterwards, and Chongyun no condom to wear during the act.

It was risky, yes, but they hadn't been thinking, clearly.

Xingqiu was so sure he had taken some birth control once he had gotten home, though.. he had a packet sitting under his mattress, one Chongyun had brought for him just encase.

Archons, he was so stuipd! He had to have forgotten! Otherwise he wouldn't be-

He wouldn't-

Fuck.

He was pregnant. And it was all because he and Chongyun hadn't used protection and he'd been dumb enough to forget to take contraceptives the second he got home.

It was so.. so abused. The entire situation.

The likelihood of him getting pregnant because of the one time they were reckless..

Xingqiu didn't know what he was supposed to do.

He had to tell Chongyun, didn't he? It wouldn't be right if he kept it from him. But..

He couldn't keep it. He couldn't.

If his parents found out he had been sleeping with someone, and had gotten pregnant, all out of wed-lock..

So he had to abort it. He'd have to schedule an appointment at a clinic, even Bubu Pharmacy, and abort it as soon as he could.

So.. so was there even any use in telling Chongyun?

If he was simply going to get rid of the fetus, then.. wouldn't it save them both the trouble?

Archons, no—he was reminding himself of all those girls in his novels that hid their pregnancies from those around them, only for it to come back and bite them in the rear later.

He hated that mental comparison..

He never thought he'd ever end up in this situation, like those girls he read about.

He was supposed to be smarter—he had thought he was smarter. But clearly he wasn't.

Eventually, Xingqiu found himself sitting on the bathroom floor, having long since abandoned the small mountain of pregnancy sticks he had purchased in the bin to be thrown out by him later, before a maid stumbled upon it.

But he'd do that later. Later, when he wasn't on the verge of a breakdown. Later, when he wasn't fighting back tears. Later, when he wasn't mentally screaming as himself for his stupidly, his foolishness, his recklessness and sheer immaturity.

He was doomed. And truthfully?

He had no one to plan but himself.
