Work Text:
Stars afloat in the water, my eyes skim the surface
Over oceans of dreams and volatile shipwrecks
Deep purple vortexes and frozen suns,
They’ve splattered their solar matter across a violet sky
Sterling satellites glide through the aqueous black net of space
Starry, starry night of darkness,
What’s on your mind?
At this high an altitude, I can’t feel anymore
Much has been lost while your stars and moons were sleeping
Secrets of whispering, serrated stars spinning like cogs in the sky
Blinking among the tattered canvas and broken masts
Stained sails rest on beams of light
That once stood as tall as deep forest pines
And were as strong as a string in time
The sand from the broken hourglasses settles between my toes
Standing on the edge of the dock,
I am edging over the swirling lavender dream water below
Frightened and wondering if I will fall in, dive in,
Or remain on the brink of insanity?
