Erwin pulls off his helmet the moment his analytics tell him the atmosphere is breathable. He always believed that, to experience a place in full, you have to smell it. It’s his favourite moment every time: the latches of his helmet releasing with a hiss, exposing his bare face to a strange, unfamiliar planet.
The rest of the crew exits the ship behind him and starts unloading their measuring and analysis equipment. Hanji joins him as he’s examining the thick forest surrounding them, and whistles appreciatively.
“Damn,” they say. “This looks good. We’ll be able to take back a bunch of samples.”
To say it looks good is an understatement. The jungle awaits in impossibly bright colours, lush greenery growing from the soft ground, leaves as big as Erwin’s torso hanging from thick, twisting branches. Unfamiliar plants reach towards the minty blue sky, barely visible through the foliage. Flowers blossom in a million different shades Erwin lacks the vocabulary to name, and likely the ocular nerves to properly perceive. The air is alive and damp, water dripping freshly from the plants onto the rich soil beneath. Insects and birds, or whatever this planet’s equivalent is, whirr and chirp all around them.
It’s overwhelmingly beautiful, the sight of a new planet stunning even after Erwin’s already set foot on so many.
Instead of traipsing off immediately, Erwin helps his crew unload their supplies. It doesn’t take long; they’ve been on countless exploration missions for the Galactic Survey Corps and have become used to each other, cogs in a well-oiled machine. By the time they are finished, Erwin is positively vibrating with excitement.
He’s here for the science, of course, to help compile a comprehensive map of all the planets in the system. But he’s also here for the adventure , for the sheer joy of exploring unknown places, of discovering something new . It thrills him, in a selfish sort of way, that he gets to be among the first humans to set foot on many of the worlds they’ve explored so far, with many more to come.
It’s that excitement thrumming under his skin that makes him grin widely as he addresses the group.
“We’re about to go in! Remember: be careful of unfamiliar lifeforms, only take samples when it’s safe to do so, and try not to get lost! Don’t do anything reckless, and don’t hesitate to call for backup. We’ll be here for a while, there will be enough time to explore everything. Now, please make sure your systems are in working order, and get started!”
He receives a chorus of affirmative responses, and the crew enters the forest, smaller groups splitting off immediately. It isn’t long before Erwin is completely separated from the others, more than happy to explore on his own, undisturbed.
The ground beneath his boots is soft and yielding, muffling his steps. It’s almost uncomfortably warm, and after quickly scanning his surroundings, Erwin unzips the top of his protective suit, tying the sleeves around his waist. Even so, his undershirt quickly clings to him with sweat.
As foliage brushes against his bare arms, leaves glistening with condensation in the humid air, Erwin lets out a delighted laugh. With every step, the forest around him becomes more vibrant, more exaggerated; the trees growing taller, vines winding thicker, flowers blooming more boisterously, and the bird-like chirping getting louder in a beautiful, echoing melody.
It makes something catch in Erwin’s chest—a childish amazement that never quite goes away. A smile dimples his cheeks. It feels like he could be the only person on this whole planet.
He lets his intuition lead him through the jungle, losing track of time and space, collecting samples and conducting scans, until the thicket clears and he stumbles onto a small clearing. The forest gives way to a meadow with too-green grass and small flowers so bright they make Erwin’s eyes hurt. A small creek bubbles at the edge, disappearing between mossy rocks. The air here is less oppressive, fresher, and Erwin closes his eyes, breathing deeply.
Somewhere between the noises of water and wildlife, he hears slow movements. Erwin keeps his eyes closed, unconcerned; if the others have found him, they can help him catalogue this place. Steps pad across the grass, come to a stop near him. Erwin grins when his colleagues don’t say anything to get his attention, and opens his eyes.
The person standing in front of him is very distinctly not part of his crew.
“Fuck!” Erwin exclaims, jumping back and stumbling over his feet, nearly landing on his ass. That would be very bad. Shit, how could he have been so careless, so inattentive? Stupid rookie mistake.
The person — if they even are a person; the blue shimmer of their skin and the pointed shape of their ears suggest they definitely aren’t human — doesn’t seem angry, though one can never quite know with other species. Erwin’s heart is hammering, his body preparing to flee at the slightest sign of hostility. He’s not eager to get torn apart by a small alien today.
And they are small, barely reaching up to Erwin’s shoulder. Their face is delicate, slim brows furrowed like they, too, are wary of Erwin’s intentions. Their arms are raised, ready to fight. Erwin notices faint webbing between their sharp-nailed fingers and their bare toes.
He stares. The being stares back. Neither of them move.
It dawns on Erwin, slowly, that he is face to face with an unknown alien species closely resembling humans. As frightening as it is, this might be the most glorious moment of his life.
While Erwin stands frozen in shock, the creature begins to inch towards him. Their black hair falls into their eyes as they tilt their head, their pupils narrowed to cat-like slits. Erwin tries not to flinch as they come to a stop in front of him, so close the fabric draped around their body brushes against him.
“Hello,” he gets out, voice trembling.
The alien opens their mouth, and a rumbling sound spills out, gravelly and low. Their teeth look very sharp, but the noise doesn’t seem hostile. It seems inviting.
Erwin sighs, tension draining from him. He doesn’t think he’s in acute danger, the alien’s posture more curious than threatening, and the unlikeliness of the situation makes his body tingle. He’s standing in front of an alien. He might be talking to an alien, in some strange way.
“Hello,” he repeats, and they make the same rumbling sound. Erwin laughs, breathless. “Do you understand me?”
The creature frowns at him and makes another noise, higher, trilling. Erwin has no idea what it means, but he doesn’t care. He points at his chest. “I’m Erwin. Erwin .”
The alien mirrors the motion, and makes a noise that sounds vaguely like Erwin , if it was all growls and clicks. Then they point at themselves, letting out two long, whistle-y noises. It doesn’t sound like any name Erwin’s ever heard. The closest approximation he can think of is Levi . That will do, probably. He doubts he could replicate the exact thing anyway. The alien seems satisfied enough when he says it.
Levi repeats the Erwin sound and reaches for his shoulders. Erwin holds still as they touch him, strangely textured fingertips running up his neck in a swirling pattern that seems meaningful. Maybe a greeting of their species. When Erwin doesn’t react, they repeat the motions. Then they shove their face against Erwin’s neck.
“Wait, what are you—” Erwin splutters, trailing off with a choked noise when he feels a huff of breath, then the slickness of a tongue tracing his jugular, swiping over both sides of his neck.
Levi lets out a curious chirp, looking up at Erwin with wonder, like they’re trying to decipher him. Erwin can relate. He’s speechless as Levi lifts his arm and runs their tongue, too-long and slender, from his biceps down to his palm, making him shiver. Then they purse their shining lips, letting their fingers follow the trail of their tongue, seeming amazed by Erwin’s reactions, or lack thereof. They grumble, like rocks rolling together, and start on the other arm, slower, exploratory.
Erwin lets it happen, breath caught in his throat. He doesn’t know exactly what is going on, but he’s not going to stop it. The situation he’s found himself in is a once-in-a-lifetime thing, and besides, it’s… sort of nice, in a way. How Levi is licking at him, touching him. It makes him feel warm inside.
When Levi brushes up against Erwin’s shirt, they tug at it with their sharp nails, frowning and chirping impatiently. Erwin doesn’t hesitate before pulling it over his head, leaving him bare-chested. Levi makes a satisfied little sound, then pulls softly at the suit sleeves knotted around his waist.
For a moment, Erwin falters. A thrill shoots through him, half fear and half eagerness, as he considers whether he really wants to get naked for an alien. He knows it’s probably a bad idea. But he’s also thrumming with excitement, curiosity, and the knowledge that he’ll never get such a chance again.
So he takes a deep breath, and undresses.
“You too,” he says, gesturing at the fabric clinging to Levi’s body. If he indulges Levi, he figures he might as well indulge himself, too.
Levi nods, makes an affirmative noise, and unwraps their intricately tied clothing.
They end up naked at the same time. Erwin doesn’t bother pulling off his boots, leaving the suit and his underwear bunched around his feet. Levi’s sheath flutters to the ground, and they watch each other.
Levi’s body shimmers in various shades of blue, their torso darker than their extremities. Their chest is flat, without nipples, which almost makes Erwin giggle with the absurdity of it all. Curiously, he glances at Levi’s groin. There are no visible genitals, but between their legs is a textured mound that Erwin can’t help but want to touch.
He flushes at the thought, heat gathering in his gut, all too aware of Levi’s gaze on him. His cock twitches at the attention, and he tries not to fidget as Levi’s eyes roam over him. They don’t seem to know where to look, wanting to take in everything at once. It’s intense, to be looked at like that, like a… a specimen. How ironic.
Hesitantly, Levi reaches out, fingers hovering in the air between them. Interesting, that they’re only shy now that they’re both naked. Erwin lets out a chuckle, and extends his own hand.
“It’s alright. You can touch me,” he says, more steady than he feels, nodding encouragingly. “Can I…?”
Levi exhales heavily and nods back. They press their palms against Erwin’s chest and step closer, until they’re almost pressed together. Erwin’s hands settle on their sides, where a ribcage should be if they have one. Levi sighs against him at the touch, their breath warm on Erwin’s skin, then puts their mouth on him, even warmer. Their lips move down the centre of Erwin’s chest, slow and sensual, their tongue flicking out to taste every inch.
Erwin bites back a moan, his grip on Levi tightening, and Levi hums encouragingly. Their frame is slender beneath Erwin’s hands, inviting. When Erwin moves his palms over Levi’s body, he can’t even pretend he’s only being driven by his spirit of discovery. An intoxicating mix of desire and curiosity is making his mind hazy and his blood sizzle. He wants this.
Their mutual exploration quickly becomes frenzied. Erwin is enthralled by the feeling of Levi’s unusually smooth skin, the muscle and bone structure he can feel, familiar in some places, completely unknown in others. Levi licks along Erwin’s body, moving towards his groin, where Erwin is undeniably hard, his cock brushing against Levi.
Sinking lower, Levi licks the tip, the beading precome there, and Erwin moans. Levi glances at his face, seemingly intrigued by the reaction, and curls their long tongue around Erwin’s cock.
“Fuck,” Erwin gasps, knees shaking.
He grips Levi’s shoulder, their hair, the texture strange and waxy, and holds them in place for a second before tugging them up until they’re standing straight, their bodies pressed together, with no space between them. He cradles Levi’s face, tilts their head up.
“Can I kiss you?” he asks, trailing a thumb over Levi’s lip. Hoping they’ll understand him. There is no recognition in Levi’s eyes, but they lean closer anyway.
When their lips touch, Levi trills, high and startled, their mouth opening in a gasp. Erwin moves to pull away, worried he’s done something wrong, but then Levi presses their face closer, and Erwin licks into their mouth, messy and desperate. Levi’s tongue feels strange against his, their spit thicker, the taste almost floral, their teeth a little too sharp. it’s mind-blowing anyway.
Levi kisses like they’re unfamiliar with the concept, but never want to stop now that they’ve learned about it, making eager sounds into Erwin’s mouth, learning quickly, letting themselves be devoured and devouring in return.
This, Erwin realises, the simple act of kissing, suddenly has Levi beside themselves with arousal, and he redoubles his efforts, kissing Levi with a passion he’s never felt before in his life.
Levi mewls, their sensitive tongue twisting eagerly against Erwin’s, and then something else twists against Erwin, something that wasn’t there before, shifting against his hip, his thigh, his cock.
Gasping, Erwin wrenches back, gaping down in surprise.
Between Levi’s legs moves a small mass of tentacles. They curl from the spot where the textured mound had been — they’d been lying dormant before, Erwin realises. Now they’re alive, dark blue tendrils winding like snakes, grasping at him, wet and warm.
Fascinated, Erwin reaches down, twining his fingers through them. They respond to the touch, reaching for him, slickness oozing as they twitch beneath his attention. There’s a lot of them, the outer ones slightly thicker than his thumb, the inner ones thin, wispy. Levi squeaks as Erwin rubs at a thick tentacle, stroking it between his fingers. Their hips push against Erwin’s, and the tentacles move wildly, some twisting around his cock.
Erwin moans as the smooth tentacles clench around him. He’s not sure if Levi is doing it on purpose or if the movement is uncontrolled, instinctual, but it feels incredible either way. Fiery arousal sweeps through him, and Erwin pants as they find a rhythm in their movements, hips rolling and tendrils stroking.
He pulls Levi into another deep kiss as he thrusts against them, his cock rubbing over a spot at the centre of the tentacle mass he thinks might be an entrance. Levi groans, clutching him closer, licking into his mouth sloppily and rutting against Erwin with abandon.
It’s hot and heavy, the sounds of it slick and lewd in the humid air around them. Erwin thinks he might combust from pleasure. He’s tumbling towards the edge quickly, his arousal a wildfire consuming him from the inside, and before he knows it, he’s coming, all the foreign sensations wrenching a mind-numbing orgasm from him.
Levi gasps against him, from surprise or pleasure, as Erwin paints their tentacles with come, and pushes against him once more before their body clenches. With his cock embraced by the tendrils, Erwin can feel when something floods from the opening at Levi’s centre. Something that is definitely not normal come.
Curious, Erwin peers down between them, Levi trailing after his lips with a displeased sound.
Dripping over his cock and the tentacles is a mess of light blue fluid, thick, almost slimy, and carrying with it countless round, deep blue spheres. Erwin dips a finger into it, scoops it up, feeling the little balls between his fingers, their smooth and squishy texture. There are so many of them, and Erwin’s cock twitches one last time as he realises they must be eggs .
His breath catches in his throat. “Fuck,” he gasps, overwhelmed and still insanely turned on. He feels sticky, shaky, and completely elated.
He just had sex with an alien. He just had sex with an alien, and it might be the best thing that’s ever happened to him. He’s not sure his heart rate will ever return to normal.
Levi lets out a rumbling purr, nosing along Erwin’s jaw, licking the sweat from his neck, their fingertips wandering over Erwin’s body, through the mess between their legs. Erwin kisses their temple, stroking their back with one hand, feeling the eggs with the other. He could stay like this for a while. Regain his bearings. Attempt conversation. Maybe go for a second round.
His peaceful musings are interrupted by the sudden sound of branches breaking nearby. Levi flinches violently, ripping themselves from Erwin’s embrace and staring in the direction of the noise with wide eyes.
For a second, they’re both frozen.
Then the noise comes again, closer, and Levi grabs their clothing from the ground so quickly that Erwin barely even realises what’s happening. They throw a glance at Erwin, almost apologetic, then dash towards the treeline.
From one moment to the next, they’re gone.
Erwin blinks after them, stunned and unmoving. He wants to shout Levi’s name, run after them, ask them to stay, but he knows it’s too late, and it would be stupid anyway. Even so, he can’t help but gaze after Levi longingly. His brain is still scrambled, and he just fucked an alien; he thinks he deserves to be a little irrational.
Another crack nearby, followed by familiar voices, startles him out of his stillness. Heart pounding, Erwin scrambles towards the creek, quickly washing away the worst of the mess, then pulling his clothes back on at lightning speed. He tugs his shirt into place a second before Hanji stumbles onto the clearing.
Erwin sighs, and decides that even though he just had the most mind-blowing experience of his life, he’s never going to tell anyone about it. This one thing, he’ll keep for himself.
