Day 9: A Gift from the Heart

Summary:

It’s funny, isn’t it?

In nearly three years at the hero academy, Katsuki has faced countless villains. Death at this point feels like an old friend, with how many times he has encountered it. He welcomes the rush of adrenaline that courses through him when another disaster strikes, when there are battles to be fought and enemies to be destroyed.

Yet, despite this, the prospect of telling his crush that he likes her is enough to make Katsuki’s stomach hurt.

Notes:

Prompt: Dick-in-a-Box; Confessions (accidental, drunken eggnog)

A huge thanks to Ray, M, and Michi for coordinating and hosting this event!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Katsuki takes a drink of his eggnog—spiked, courtesy of Denki.

It’s the most vile fucking thing he has ever consumed in his entire life, but it doesn’t stop Katsuki from taking another long gulp. He needs all the liquid courage he can get in order to survive this night, one that seems like it was designed specifically to torment him.

Knowing Mina, he wouldn’t be surprised if that was her precise intention. His friend has been hounding him—literally hounding—for months now, trying to get him to confess his feelings to Ochako before the end of their third year at UA. She’s like a fly, buzzing around his ear doing her utmost to annoy him to death. She goads him, provokes him. Anything she can think of to accomplish her goal.

Katsuki can admit, begrudgingly, that his friends have made some valid points as to why he should take the risk and ask Ochako out. However, despite this concession, he hasn’t yet managed the courage to actually do it.

It’s funny, isn’t it?

In nearly three years at the hero academy, Katsuki has faced countless villains. Death feels like an old friend at this point, with how many times he has encountered it. He welcomes the rush of adrenaline that courses through him when another disaster strikes, when there are battles to be fought and enemies to be destroyed.

Yet, despite this, the prospect of telling his crush that he likes her is enough to make Katsuki’s stomach hurt.

It’s actually not that funny.

It’s pathetic.

He would never acknowledge it aloud, but he knows his friends are all thinking it, hence their efforts to bring him and Ochako together.

Eijiro regularly invites her to sit at their table for lunch, and somehow the only spot left to sit in is always conveniently the one that’s next to Katsuki. Mina has been organizing events all year, from class outings to movie nights. Naturally, he and Ochako always end up paired together.

Denki is the least subtle of all.

If it weren’t for his excellent self-control, Katsuki might have murdered the little asshole at least ten times, retribution for all the times his friend has asked Ochako out. It’s obvious that he’s trying to provoke Katsuki into action, especially considering Denki has his own not-so-secret crush on Hitoshi that he’s harboring.

Still, it doesn’t stop Katsuki’s heart rate from skyrocketing every time Denki makes another pass at Ochako.

At least the idiot hasn’t had any success—yet. Every time, Ochako just laughs and brushes him off.

Still, it seems Katsuki’s friends are getting more and more desperate to make this thing happen, despite his protests otherwise.

Honestly, he wouldn’t be surprised if this whole Secret Santa exchange was rigged, with Mina specifically assigning him to Ochako. It’s too much of a coincidence that he would happen to draw her name out of all their classmates.

As if on cue, it’s her turn to open the gift he so painstakingly selected and wrapped for her.

Before she even starts to tear through the wrapping paper, Katsuki can already feel his face getting flushed. It feels like it’s a thousand degrees in their dormitory common room. The noise of their classmates chattering falls away as his focus narrows to her.

He’s almost positive she’ll like the necklace he chose.

It’s only about four times above the price limit that was set as part of the rules of the exchange, but no one needs to know that. The moment he saw it, Katsuki knew it was the perfect present for Ochako. The chain is delicate, wrought so finely that it’s almost invisible, aside from the way it shines in the light. Attached to it is a simple charm, one of the moon.

Her eyes light up when she opens the box, and she’s saying something—she must be because her lips are moving, her cheeks bright pink with excitement. At first, Katsuki can’t hear her, though. He thinks for a moment that the battery in his hearing aid must have died, but that can’t be it, because he can hear Eijiro.

“What about the card, bro?” his friend asks. He’s trying to whisper, but he’s so damn loud that it wouldn’t be surprising if half the room could hear him. The unfortunate question snaps Katsuki out of his daze.

He elbows Eijirou, hard. A warning to shut the hell up.

The card, selected with as much care as the necklace, remains in its envelope on his desk. There’s a confession in it, a heartfelt outpouring of all the ways in which he admires Ochako—how he thinks her smile lights up the whole room, how he sees her kindness as a strength, how he respects her tenacity and drive as a hero, how he wishes he could spend every waking moment with her.

Truly, he doesn’t know what possessed him to write all those things. He must have dissociated while doing it, because Katsuki didn’t even think he had it in him to be so…romantic. He shudders to even consider the possibility, horror washing over him at the thought, just like it did when he first read what he had written in the otherwise innocuous greeting card.

“Bro?” Eijiro presses, interrupting his musing. Apparently, his friend remains undeterred by his initial response, though...that tracks. Eijiro always did have more hair than common sense.

“Shut the fuck up,” Katsuki whisper-yells in response. “There’s no fucking card.”

He doesn’t miss the glance that Eijiro and Mina share, but he doesn’t have a chance to do damage control before Ochako is tasked with guessing who her Secret Santa is.

Naturally, her first guess is going to be one of her friends—Izuku or the frog girl.

While she can’t know the exact cost of the necklace, she isn’t dumb enough to miss the fact that it’s worth more than the measly limit that Mina set for the gifts. And who else other than her friends would spend that much on a present?

Except, she doesn’t name either of them, or Four Eyes either.

Instead, she looks directly at Katsuki.

“It was you, wasn’t it?” she asks.

There’s a twinkle in her eyes, a pretty bloom of pink on the apples of her round cheeks.

Katsuki’s entire world stops. He forgets how to breathe.

It’s not like this is the first time she has spoken to him directly. They’ve had plenty of conversations. This just feels…different. It feels monumental, so much so that he’s stunned into silence. It isn’t until Eijiro bumps him with his shoulder that Katsuki realizes all eyes are on him, not just the pretty brown ones that he spends so much time dreaming about.

“Uh, yeah,” he manages, clearing his throat to buy some time. “It was me.”

“Thank you so much, Bakugo,” she says, her smile growing. “It’s beautiful.”

Sweat beads along his hairline.

“It’s nothing, Moon Face. Don’t fucking mention it.”

With that, he drains his glass.

“Truth or dare, Bakugo!”

God fucking dammit.

Katsuki swallows a groan—and the urge to curse at Mina.

Will this night ever end?

He still hasn’t recovered from the awkward exchange with Ochako when she opened her gift, though he doesn’t know if he’ll ever recover. In fact, he’s pretty sure he’s going to replay the conversation in his mind for years to come, agonizing over what he could have done differently. Would it have fucking killed him to just accept her thanks like a normal person would? Are the words ‘You’re welcome,’ really so hard to say?

Apparently, yes.

Manners have never been his strong suit, but he could have done better than, ‘Don’t fucking mention it.’

Ochako probably thinks he was raised by wolves.

And all he can do is take another drink of this nasty ass eggnog. Unfortunately, the taste hasn’t improved even though he’s four cups in, but he keeps on chugging it like his life depends on it.

“Bakugo!” Mina says, golden eyes fixed on him. “Truth or dare!”

He doesn’t like the way she’s looking at him.

Whose idea was it to play this stupid game anyway?

“Dare,” he says, only because he knows exactly what will happen if he chooses truth. Mina will force him to admit his crush on Ochako.

Except, maybe that would have been better, if the wicked smile that spreads across Mina’s face is any indication. His heart falls into his stomach, dread creeping up along his spine before she even speaks again.

When she does, it only confirms his worst fears. She found a way to force his hand anyway.

“I dare you to give a gift to the person you like—give them your dick in a box, like in that video that Kaminari showed us last week.”

This time, Katuski can’t help but groan.

“You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me.”

“You could always choose truth, instead,” Eijiro says.

Katsuki glances at him, betrayal in his eyes, but his friend merely smiles back that stupid toothy grin of his.

From further down the circle, Denki and Hanta snicker.

So they’re all in on this. Damn bastards.

“I don’t wanna get written up for sexual harassment,” Katsuki protests, a last-ditched attempt to somehow get out of this predicament. “I can’t have that on my record.”

“You won’t,” Mina insists. “They’ll love it.”

“What is dick in a box?” Shoto asks in that annoying, stilted way of his.

“Oh my god,” Denki exclaims. “You don’t know!?”

The other boy merely blinks at him.

“Pull it up!” Hanta says. “Show everyone the masterpiece.”

Katsuki groans again, his face dropping into his hands. There’s no way his friends are going to let him off the hook. Either he completes this stupid fucking dare, or Mina is going to make him admit that he likes Ochako—in front of the entire class. Fucking hell.

The opening notes of the song play, but Katsuki doesn’t look up. He’s had to watch the video multiple times now, thanks to Denki, who thinks it’s the funniest thing ever created.

The video elicits a range of reactions from the rest of their cohort, from amusement to shock to discomfort, though no one seems to find it as hilarious as his friend does.

“Well?” Mina says when it’s over.

She’s looking at Katsuki expectantly, that impish grin still plastered on her face.

Katsuki will get her back for this—eventually. He’ll get them all back. He’ll wait until they’ve been lulled into a false sense of security, until they think that he must have forgotten all about this little scheme of theirs. He’ll strike when they’re least expecting it, leaving nothing but devastation and ruination in his wake. These assholes aren’t his friends anymore, they’re his nemeses.

“He’s too chicken to do it,” Denki says, laughing.

Katsuki responds with a blast aimed directly at his feet. He’s skilled enough with his quirk that he can do that—striking only his intended target with frightening precision. He hits his target, causing Denki to jump with a yelp, unaware of just how lucky he is. If Katsuki wanted to, he could have done far more damage.

“I don’t have a box,” he says to Mina.

An admittedly weak excuse.

“We’ll find one for you!” Eijiro says, the fucking traitor.

“When do I have to do it by?” he asks, resignation and rage dripping from every word.

“Tonight,” Mina says.

“It’s already two in the morning!”

“Then I guess you better get to it!”

“Give him twenty-four hours,” Eijiro says.

Mina considers the suggestion for longer than necessary, clearly enjoying Katsuki’s discomfort as she taps her chin with her finger.

“Fine,” she says finally. “Twenty-four hours. But I will be following up. And if you don’t do it…”

“What, you’ll report me to the truth or dare police?” Katsuki asks sarcastically.

“No, I’ll just tell the person myself.”

“You wouldn’t.”

“She would,” Izuku chimes in.

He would know.

Mina helped arrange his own confession to Shoto earlier in the year, a matchmaking feat that she hasn’t shut the hell up about ever since.

“I’ll murder you,” Katsuki growls at her.

The impudent little shit merely laughs.

“Sure you will, Bakubro. Twenty-four hours. Now, who’s next?”

Every step Katsuki takes toward Ochako’s room feels like one step closer to the gallows.

Fuck, he can’t remember the last time he felt this nervous.

He tries to imagine the worst-case scenario—a little trick taught to him by the therapist that the school mandates. One way he has learned to manage anxiety is by bringing to mind the worst that could happen and then to figure out how to cope with it. Nine out of ten times, the catastrophe his mind creates is far beyond the realm of reality. And when it isn’t, he can always think of a way to deal with whatever situation might arise.

Except, that’s not how it is this time.

When he imagines the worst-case scenario, Katsuki’s mind is filled with images of Ochako laughing in his face. Of course, she wouldn’t be cruel about rejecting him. He doesn’t even think she has the capacity to be cruel. Still, she could laugh in surprise, and that would be just as devastating. Or her little brows might furrow in pity as she tries to figure out a way to let him down easy. That would be even worse.

He almost turns back then, but something keeps him moving forward. There's a little voice that sounds just like Mina, telling him that he has never once played it safe in his entire life and now is definitely not the time to start. Or else.

All that’s true, but it doesn’t make it any easier.

At least no one is around to witness his shame.

Katsuki waited until his friends were deep in an alcohol-induced stupor, too dead to the world to wake when he snuck out of his room to complete this stupid dare. He has the box under one arm—he’s not going to wear it through the hallways for fuck’s sake. In his other hand, the card that he meant to give her for Christmas.

He’s going to do his best to put to words what he feels for her, but in case all else fails, it never hurts to have a backup plan. Honestly, he kind of just hopes she won’t wake up when he knocks.

Of course, nothing ever goes the way he wants it to.

The moment his hand makes contact with her door, it swings open to reveal a rather flustered girl. It’s almost as if she was waiting for him? That can’t be right, though. It’s not like she knows about his crush, unless…

Did Mina already tell her?

“Bakugo?” Ochako says, her voice bringing him back to the present moment.

“Um, hi,” he says.

Wow. Off to a fantastic start.

“Is there something I can help you with?”

God, how is it even possible for someone to be so fucking perfect? Even when faced with his awkward, fumbling greeting, she’s still so damn sweet. Suddenly, it feels like he can’t breathe. Why the hell would a girl like Ochako ever be interested in someone like him?

For all his bravado and bluster, there’s a part of Katsuki that’s deeply unsure of himself, one that very few are privy to. It’s in moments like these that he wishes he had Eijiro’s sunshine disposition or Mina’s disarming charisma. Fuck, Katsuki would even settle for the way Izuku stammers and blushes—at least his disposition is charming in its own pathetic way.

While Katsuki has worked tirelessly to improve himself over the last few years, he’s never going to be the polite, respectable man that Ochako deserves. It would be disingenuous to change himself that much—even if it meant gaining her approval.

“Bakugo?” she says again.

This puts an end to the self-deprecating spiral he’s sinking into.

“What’s wrong?” Ochako asks.

That’s when she notices the box he’s holding, wrapped haphazardly with red and green paper. His face grows impossibly more flushed—he wouldn’t be surprised if he resembles a tomato. At least she can’t see the circular hole cut into it. This whole ordeal is already mortifying enough.

“Did you need help with—” she trails off as she gestures toward the box.

“Help with it?” he manages to choke out.

“Well… Yeah? Why else are you here?”

What is happening?

“The others don’t mean anything by their teasing,” she continues, oblivious to his inner confusion. “They just want to see you happy. But I do understand why you might not feel comfortable asking one of them for assistance. I’m more than happy to do whatever it is you need from me, though!”

She smiles then, but it doesn’t reach her eyes.

“I don’t…” he pauses, dumbfounded. “What?”

Maybe he’s been hit by some unseen quirk that has rendered him stupid enough that he can’t form full sentences. It wouldn’t surprise him, seeing how this night has gone.

“Aren’t you on your way to tell Momo how you feel about her?”

Katsuki blinks, stunned speechless.

What the fuck is happening?

“Do you want me to go ahead of you and let her know you’re on your way so you don’t have to stand too long in the hallway with…that?”

She waves her hand toward the fucking box again. If a crater would open up in the ground and swallow him up, that would be fucking great. Anything to save him from this absolute tragedy of a conversation.

“I’m not going to Momo’s room,” he manages.

“Who then?” she asks.

“Yours..?”

“Well, you’re here,” she says, laughing uncomfortably.

He looks at her and waits. She has to put the pieces together. If she doesn’t, he might actually die of humiliation and embarrassment.

How is it that he can show up at a girl’s room with a box for his dick under his arm and she still doesn’t realize that he’s there for her? Especially given that said girl was present when his friends issued the stupid dare to begin with?

Finally, her eyes light up as she connects the dots.

“Really?” she asks.

He nods.

“I thought you weren’t interested in me like that.”

“You’re the only girl I’ve been interested in for the past two and a half years,” he says, wincing at his lack of finesse. There’s no room for flowery words now, though, not when they were just on the brink of a devastating misunderstanding.

A blush crawls across her cheeks, painting them pink.

“I thought you and the girl from Shiketsu—”

“Just friends,” he says.

He hasn’t had time for relationships since starting at UA, nor has he been particularly interested in them. There have been plenty of opportunities, but none really caught his attention. He’s been too singularly focused on training to be the future number-one hero.

And his heart was already taken, as fucking corny as it sounds.

Katsuki found himself comparing every girl to Ochako, even before he realized he was into her.

“Two and half years?” she asks.

“Yeah. It’s embarrassing, I know.”

She shakes her head.

“I think I’ve had a crush on you for almost as long.”

“Really?” he asks.

Suddenly, it feels like he’s on top of the world.

“I just figured you were too focused on your studies… And then Mina started dropping hints that you might like me too, but when I tried to get close to you… You were always so aloof.”

“I’m an idiot,” he says.

“You’re at the top of our class in marks.”

“Still an idiot.”

He drops the box, takes a step closer.

Ochako meets him halfway. Tentatively, she puts her hands on his chest, leaning into him when his hands find her hips. He presses his forehead to hers, and his eyes fall shut.

“Sorry,” he whispers.

“For what?”

“For taking so long…for being too scared.”

“It’s okay to be scared.”

She presses a kiss to the corner of his mouth.

“No, it’s not. I wasted too much time when we could have been like this all along.”

“We’ve been really busy. And that’s putting it lightly. It’s probably best that you waited.”

He opens his eyes to find her watching him, her mouth curled into a small smile.

“Can I make it up to you?” he asks.

“What did you have in mind?”

“Maybe I can start by kissing you…”

“I would like that very much.”

Before he can respond, she tugs him into the room and closes the door behind them.

As badly as Katsuki wanted to be with Ochako the night that he confessed, he also wanted to do things right by her, to give her all that she deserved and more. Call him romantic, but it just didn’t feel right to rush into it. He wanted Ochako to know that she was more than just a hookup to him. That meant that he couldn’t fuck her senseless…not before he took her on a proper date.

It’s a good thing that he had spent countless hours fantasizing about what their first date would be because that’s apparently just who he is now. A corny, lovestruck son of a b—

Anyway, first, he takes her to dinner at his favorite ramen restaurant. Then, dessert at a little shop that specializes in mochi. Finally, he walks her back to her dorm room, eager with anticipation of what might follow. He has no expectations that they’re going to have sex tonight, but given how badly she seemed to want him that first night…

Well, he’s hopeful.

“Come inside?” she asks when they stop in front of her door.

“Yeah,” he says, nearly tripping over himself in his haste to follow her in.

“I’ve dreamt about this for so long,” she says as she pulls her shirt over her head and undoes the button of her skirt. Her shoes and tights soon join the pile of clothes on the floor.

And even though she undresses with the same efficiency that she must use every day on the job, it’s the sexiest fucking thing Katsuki has ever seen. It’s so sexy, in fact, that he just watches her, eyes wide and lips parted slightly. When she stands upright in her bra and panties and flashes him a little smirk, he nearly combusts.

Given Ochako’s confidence, he can’t imagine it’s her first time. And it isn’t for him, either. Still, it might as well be, seeing how flustered she makes him. When her fingers find the buckle of his belt, he almost comes in his jeans.

“Is this okay?” she asks, sensing his discomfort. “If we’re moving too fast—”

“No!” he nearly shouts. “Not too fast.”

Rather than sticking his foot further in his mouth, he disrobes with so much haste that he almost elbows Ochako in the face. He’s able to avoid it, thank fuck, but he stumbles backward and crashes into the bed as a result.

Her laughter fills the room as she follows him, making use of her quirk to pull him up onto the mattress so they’re lying side by side. If it were up to Katsuki, he could spend hours just admiring her—because love has made him incredibly fucking soft.

Ochako, however, has other ideas in mind.

Not even a minute passes before she’s pressing her lips to his, circling his cock with her fingers. Even with the fabric of his briefs providing a buffer, it’s the best thing he’s ever felt.

“I never imagined you’d be shy in bed,” she murmurs, the words whispered against his mouth. Her tongue brushes the seam of his lips as she slides her hand beneath his waistband so that skin meets skin.

“I’m not,” he says, a low groan catching in his throat when her thumb slides over his sensitive cockhead. He wraps an arm around her, pulling her close.

“Could’ve fooled me,” she says.

Katsuki can hear the teasing note in her tone—he knows she’s riling him up on purpose.

He loves it.

He grabs a greedy handful of her ass, bites her lip. Then, before she knows what’s happening, he flips them both so that Ochako is flat on her back and he’s hovering above her. Slowly, he rolls his hips against her and revels in the warmth that radiates from her cunt.

God, he can’t wait to be inside her. He wants it almost as bad as he wants to taste her. And why should he deny himself, after waiting so long? He starts by leaving a trail of kisses along her collarbone, down her stomach, and across her hips. He laps at her before he takes her panties off, until the silk is sticky with spit and her arousal.

Only when she’s squirming and whimpering does he tear the fabric away and press his mouth to her cunt. He listens to the noises she makes, noticing how her body tenses when he drags his tongue in a slow circle around her clit.

When she demands fingers, he slides them into her. When she buries her hand in his hair and holds him so close he might suffocate, Katsuki accepts that death might be imminent.

He lets her ride his face, lets her take and take until she reaches her peak with a soft cry. Only then does he pull away, gasping for air as he crawls back over her until his chest is pressed to hers once more.

“Where the fuck did you learn how to do that?”

The expletive sounds so foreign on her tongue that Katsuki can’t help but laugh.

“I actually haven’t done it very many times before.”

“You’re lying.”

“I swear,” he says. “I’m just a fast learner.”

She looks suspicious, but rather than continue arguing, she loops her arms around his neck and tugs him close to taste herself on his lips. It feels like his balls are going to explode.

“Do you have a condom?” she asks.

Fucking fuck.

He shakes his head. He has a box in his room, but he didn’t bring any with him, lest he seem presumptuous. Now, he could kick himself for his lame attempt at chivalry.

“I’m on the pill,” she says. “And I’m clean.”

“Me too,” he says.

“Do you feel comfortable…”

In response, he pushes his briefs down until his cock springs free and notches it at the entrance of her cunt.

“Are you sure?” he asks.

Ochako wraps her legs around him, her thighs squeezing his hips and her heels digging into his ass as she pulls him closer.

“Fuck,” he groans as he slides further into her. “You feel so fucking good.”

“You do, too.”

She’s breathless.

He did that to her.

“Tell me what you need,” he says.

“More,” she urges.

He takes his time in filling her with his cock, savoring how tight and warm she feels stretched out around him. It’s the best feeling in the entire fucking world. He has reached nirvana.

“Move,” Ochako says, her teeth tugging at his earlobe.

A little moan escapes her when he pulls out only to push back in. Now that he’s had her, he’s always going to want more. He’s never going to be satisfied, never satiated.

It takes a minute or so to find a good rhythm, to learn what she likes—what feels good for her. Soon enough, Katsuki has her clawing at his back and digging her teeth into his shoulder, the muscles of her cunt rippling around him as her orgasm approaches.

His arm aches from the awkward angle, pinned between their bodies so he can tease her clit in time with the movement of his hips. It doesn’t matter. The way she whimpers his name makes it worth it.

His cock has never been so hard. It’s honestly a miracle that he hasn’t exploded yet. He doesn’t know how he’s managing to resist given how good it feels. Maybe it’s sheer willpower—mind over matter.

While he could always finish her off again with his mouth and fingers if he comes first, Katsuki is determined to feel her fall apart with his cock still buried inside her. It’s not enough to give her a second orgasm. He wants to know what it feels like when she comes undone.

Soon enough, his wish is granted and reality is even better than anything he has ever imagined.

She cries out when the waves of her orgasm wash over her. Her cunt milks him, making it impossible to hold off any longer. With a low groan, he comes, too.

They stay tangled together even after his cock grows soft and slips from inside her. Katsuki lies on his side, Ochako close to his chest. Their legs are entwined, the sound of her slow breaths soothing him.

“I need to get you a Christmas present,” she says sleepily.

“What?” he asks. “Why?”

“You gave me two and I haven’t given you anything.”

“Two?”

“The necklace…and your dick.”

She laughs softly, her breath warm against his skin.

“You gave me the best Christmas ever.”

Ochako pulls away, far enough to look at him.

Shame, his old friend, resurfaces. Was that too much? Now that he has her, now that Katsuki knows how she returns his affections, it’s impossible to temper all the corny ass thoughts that come to mind whenever he’s around her. But maybe she doesn’t want that…

“I like it when you’re sentimental,” she says.

Immediately, his insecurities are quieted.

“Yeah?” he asks.

“Mhm. Now, kiss me.”

He obliges readily, basking in the warmth that rushes through him at the taste of her lips.

This really has been the best fucking Christmas ever.
